Im an international student and have a terrible experience with this Rocky rider shop in Beeston…read more The owner give me a good impression at first time when he tighten and inflate my bike for free. But later on when I try to repair a bike i bought elsewhere I was charged 20 more pounds each time with a broken component and not being advised on the overall quality of the bike and whether it's better idea to abandon the bike. I feel like the bike is an infinite money black hole with unforeseen spent on repair. Last Christmas, I bought a second handed bike from the shop, i chose a 75 pounds bike initially but advised that if i buy 120 pounds one would receive a quality guarantee, but it turns out to be a lie even with the receipt. The first break down happened 2 months later. when I go to him with a long walk he told me the axis of the wheel is snapped and expected me to pay for it. When i showed him the receipt, he reluctantly agree to repair but let me come back in an hour. I went back home and went for a run thinking when i finished running could ride it home. But when i came to the shop after 2 HOURS. HE HASNT DONE A THING WITH MY BIKE. I have to wait in the cold air with my shorts on for another hour to watch him fix it. By the time I ride home both my arms lost feelings in the cold post winter temperature. Second breakdown happened 1 month after as the exam seasons. I didnt have time to repair and only got the time after exam and this time he again try to charge me and when I mention the quality assurance. He said that only last a months and THAT WAS NOT MENTIONED AT ALL WHEN I PURCHASED IT and think about no products have insurance of that short time. it was completely made up by the owner. I have to blame myself for buying in private business as there's no regulation to trace. The receipt is just worthless

Mick amd Langdales is very well known to cyclists in the area as they have been based in Mapperley…read morefor the past 30 years. I have got to know Mick and his family over the past few years as my husband is a keen cyclist and now won't go anywhere else due to the great service that Langdale offers. During the time when the gentleman above had issues Mick's wife was battling leukaemia and died in July 2011 aged just 42, leaving behind Mick and their two daughters who were aged just 5 and 10, during this awful time Mick was taking Karen to and from the hospital whilst caring for his kids and elderly mother, whilst I am not making excuses for any perceived poor service from Langdales this certainly isn't typical and obviously the gravitas of his personal situation must have had an impact on the business to a degree as there is only Mick and Karen's dad that work in the shop. What I am saying is please don't take the other review as a typical customer experience. Things seem to be back on track now at Langdales and Mick also started a charity in his wife's name in case anyone is interested; The Karen Green Foundation http://www.karengreenfoundation.com

I used Mick at Langdale's twice for wheel builds as some forums recommended him for wheels…read more 1st time a pair of American Classic wheels were checked and retrued. These were apparently a nightmare and despite advising of cassette body cahnge from shimano to campagnolo, and supplying this and instructions, found this not to be done when I arrived which meant I had to point out this on collection, wait whilst it was done, and also point out that the dishing would now be incorrect on freehub change and this would also need doing. Stupidly I got a front AC wheel which was brand new checked and a rear wheel built at Langdales having to wait months for him to find time to do it. When I collected the Campagnolo freehub was still on that was needing to be changed for Shimano and I advised this would then require a check of dishing only to be told it would be fine. These wheels were a belated present for my father, took so long they were supposed to be for Fathers day, may have been for christmas before, who knows. Long story short my father on receiving his wheels as a present had to try and redish them himself. And I paid £55 for 1 wheel to be built with me supplying everything which seems to be a lot when I have compared with other recommended wheel builders. On this basis 1 star and I would never go near this shop again.
