The staff couldn't be more friendly and will bend over backwards to help you. Nothing is too much trouble. The prices in there aren't too bad at all. OK the nature of the business means there are no cheapies but certain stores are still well over priced but not here at Music man. The after care service is great, nothing is too much trouble for them and they want their customers to go away happy. My daughter is quite happy to go back here for all her guitar accessories as well as the next time she needs her guitar restrung.

They specialise in the cheaper range of gear like behringer and their clones and they strike an uneasy balance between musical instruments and accessories and mobile DJ's and karaoke machines. I get the impression that they started out as a mobile DJ and karaoke machine supplier along with some cheaper PA's and sound systems and branched out into a few of the budget guitars and things and now they've got this uneasy mix. I'm always going for either highly technical queries regarding professional equipment which they can't really help with and would have to order in anyway or I'm on the musical instrument side which they only cover the basics of for the purposes of the beginner. It is nice to see independent businesses though.

While they don't have the personalised book recommendations and tags describing the book, handwritten using the opinions of staff and newspaper reviews, the store did still have a pretty good overall feel and selection. Another understaffed store within the mall however and I do think the stationery and newsagents part of the business did suffer a little bit due to the decision for this store to have a focus on books. It is still, however, a pretty good branch of WHSmith within intu Derby, being one of the few places to have a selection of books within the city centre, even if the prices are slightly higher than online giants such as Amazon. 3*

The store now seems much more bigger than it did in the old Eagle Centre and it is definatly more bright. I've visited the new store several times looking for gifts. A lot of the promotional books are laid out well and not hidden like most stores. The stationary is pricey if you compare it to somewhere like The Works, but with good quality brand names, you pay for quality. Staff are always very helpful and polite and queues are never bad.

Now a franchise of Londis…read more This store is your average Londis convenience store. It has good lines of everything although the prices are a little more inflated than most of the other stores in this area. They have a big deli section with a huge choice of sanwiches and rolls, pies, microwave goods. Lots of yoghurt and desserts too. The fruit and veg section is a bit of a let down and very expensive. I would try and my fres stuff from other outlets. They stock everything else you would expect although the store is small and everything is packed in so the aisles are very narrow, not much chance of getting a pram around the shop so you have to leave the baby at the front of the store while you shop. They only have 2 freezers but they are packed full of anything you might need. Not a big selection of bread and cakes though and I can never find any rolls for burgers or hotdogs. They do have some great offers on each month. The same offers probably as any Londis. They actually do have a lot of reduced goods too which have passed their sell by dates. These are the kind of offers I like. As all convenience stores you can also buy your lottery tickets (They have the fast pay lottery machines too) as well as your electric/gas/mobile topup and they have an ATM although remember they charge you £1.75 for drawing cash out. As for the staff, The family that run it are a bit ignorant but the lady that works in there is lovely and always friendly and chatty.
