This one probably has the biggest variety of stock and is in the westfield centre for convenience. The layout is quite simple and everything seems to be in a relevant place although the shopping aisles seem a little small and the shelves are usually packed very fully. The staff are not that friendly and i wouldn't really want a conversation with them anyway. They just want to get the queue down as quick as they can which is very efficient but not very customer friendly. This shop always seems to be extremely busy and it is hard to get around. There is a policy in this store: If the till operator does not give you a receipt, go to the manager and they will give you £5. Sounds good but they will always give you a receipt. The prices are very good and they offer some brill brands for the price that they offer. It is also useful when you don't have much cash and fancy a cheap drink. Probably the cheapest place in westfield.

It is like my new favourite hang out as I know that whatever I need I am bound to find it in there. For instance, I have discovered Mr Muscle Frozen Lime and Vinegar wipes. They would probably be about £2 in Wilkinsons and they clean anything and everything for just 99p.They also sell 2litre bottles of Pepsi for 79p. I also bought a mop and bucket for 99p each. The best thing about the 99p store compared to the £shops is the variety of lines and there is so much more choice especially with the food and confectionery aisles. Just think if you spend £10 a week in Poundland then go to the 99p store and save 10p a week and those pennies will mount up :) Back to the reviewIt is well laid out with plenty of room to get round up and down the aisles with the major plus being the till staff. They are all very polite. They always say Hello and Goodbye and Please and Thank you and they are very fast. The queues go down very quickly without fuss. Also they are trained to give you a receipt every time so if they don't, you can go to the manager and he will give you a fiver!

From clothes and shoes to electrical goods and DVDs all cheaper than high street prices. I recommend checking the Factory Shop out for Aftershave and Perfume bargins for christmas. As they motto states Big Brands, Big Products, Big Savings i think that says it all really. The only bad points that i can think of is that its packed with products - not suitable if you have a pram or pushchair, and the lack of car parking facilities outside the shop. The best bet is to park in the windmill car park and walk up to the Factory Shop.

The prices are amazing especially on the toys which you can expect to get for a fraction of what you would pay in the big toy stores. Of course they don't have steady lines of items so if you see it you should get it straight away or they probably won't have it next time. I like to shop there for cleaning stuff and neccessities like Washing powder and toilet rolls. A huge box of washing powder just £2 which lasted a month has to be a bargain. The one thing you do have to be careful of is a lot of the food and chocolate is past the BB, SB dates but it usually makes no difference to the quality and taste. My problem is I go for a couple of things and come back with boxes full. You can pay by cash or if you spend over £10 you can pay by Debit card. Oh usual C&C rules apply. You have to be over 16 (My daughter is 16 and always gets asked for ID) You are allowed to take youngsters in if they fit in a trolley though. No bags allowed in the store but you can leave them in the little room.

I don't know how the system works as some of the stock they have was in Argos six or seven years ago (where has it been in the meantime?) but it's well worth a look. The items are good quality and have been well stored, but the shop can be very difficult to get around. There is just a massive amount of stock there, and it is often not clearly marked (plain brown boxes etc). So you may have to do some digging around, and keep your eyes peeled. You could miss some great stuff! I think the place could do with its own catalogue, but that's probably not viable considering they likely get daily deliveries of random old Argos stock. So heartily recommended, but you have to go in with either a great amount of luck or a lot of time to really get the most out of it.

When I lived in Victoria Park I would always pop in and see Jaz on my way home from uni. He always recognised me and had something to chat about. He sells everything you'd expect to find in a discount store - 4 cans of pop for £1, chocolate bars, laundry baskets, clothes airers, Christmas decorations, pens, notebooks, loo roll.... I've actually bought all of the aforementioned goodies here and they are of surprisingly good quality. I bought a dirty washing basket from here for £1 in 2005 and it's still going strong! On more than one occasion Jaz has offered to pick me and my friends whatever we wanted up from the cash and carry and he's even requested our advice on pricing. Once he asked me how much I'd be willing to pay for a horrid talking Christmas tree. Not wanting to offend him, I told him I'd pay £5, which I think was a bit ambitious. The inside of the shop is nothing fancy time looks as though it has stood still here for a long time. However, the shop is packed with nearly every conceivable household item you could imagine (excluding furniture and appliances). If you are familiar with Latif and Sons in Birmingham City Centre, think of this shop of a condensed version of the same type of store. Another way of describing it is as 'Northfield's General Store' - everything from kitchenware, cleaning products, garden, diy, computer and automotive accessories are in stock at very reasonable prices. I managed to buy a bunch of last minute Christmas presents here this last year and I had never thought a shop on Northfield could offer such choice, quality and value. The couple who run the shop are lovely too; very friendly. Also, If there is something you are after and they don't stock it, they are happy to source it for you. Often I have bought items from larger stores and supermarkets only to find the same products sold here at a cheaper price. I now usually pop in and check here first if I am after something in particular before shopping around It saves the disappointment! Definitely recommended, especially if you are setting up home and need a local, independent shop to buy the basics!

Last Christmas I got two kids pressies for £5 each that were retailing in the shops for £30, and I even got a free game with each one. Parents of recipients thought I had gone crazy or come into money. lol. The best bit is all the sweets on the end Isle, they have boxes and boxes of stuff usually 10 for £1. It does differ each time you go in, on rare occasion I didnt think it was as great as the last, but thats the beauty of it, if you time it right when they have a load of stock that you like you will be quids in. Beware parents, they dont allow children in??? dont know why.. Or big bags, for obvious reasons.. If you liked Tradex (that was) you will like this 10 times better, minus the clothes.
