I've been here dozens of times for lunch and some beers, and it's always pretty okay. Not exceptional but not bad. If I want a pub lunch in the area, this is generally my go to for lack of other options.
It's great on a sunny day for some fish and chips in the outside seating area with the bar menu. Although I the inside dining "wine bar" area they have to be a little stifling and unpleasant. I don't know what this Aussie fascination with turning pubs into posh wine bars is, its a bit out of place and super expensive (given that pretty similar items can be pulled off the bar menu for half the price).
Also the staff on occasion can be a little clueless here, mixing up orders, making stuff spicy when they should be plain, etc etc, and forgetting things and what not. But all in all, this is a cool place if you just keep your head focussed on the pub/light aspect on it and don't get sucked into expensive wine bar dining "experience" because it just fails so badly in my opinion.
I'd probably always return though if wanting some lunch and a pint and in the area. read more
