Delicious & Worth the Stop! Halal Time is a true gem in East Austin! The chicken over rice was packed with flavor--tender meat, fluffy rice, and their sauces are so good. Portions are big and prices are fair. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. If you're in the area, this food truck is a must-try!

I am so glad to see Halal Time still thriving on E. 6th! Drove by last weekend and the area was packed. Parking is not easy but made my way over to this trailer. Sam (the owner) was there, working his tail off as usual. I went for his awesome Falafel over rice, minus the yellow sauce. And it's been a while but his cheese fries are to die for! After several years - the falafel here is still the best I have ever had - no joke. It has this nice robust seasoning and a tad bit of heat to it. No other falafel tastes as good as his. It's my favorite dish here - anything falafel. I love his red and white sauce too. Now - he used to have purple pickles, and they were slightly sweet, but he changed the recipe to a salty pickle. They are good, but those purple sweet pickles were oh so awesome, and a great balance with the savory dishes. Those cheese fries - omg - now I know it's just melted cheese in the microwave added to his crispy fries - but he adds in the white and red sauce, and ketchup, and oh man that is an awesome late night gluttony dish. I just love it. Took the two dishes home to share with my neighbor girl - she went nuts and now she's in love........with Halal Time, not me. ; - )

I love Halal time!! I get the falafel plate and it's enough for my partner and I to get full, with a side of the fries. We can always count on Halal time on a late night! The customer service is always genuine and pleasant. We Always look forward to going back! You won't regret it! The environment is always nice and we feel welcomed to eat there or in our car!

    Chicken over rice

Classic halal cart although you can't beat their price. Only $12.99 for a chicken over rice plate, I feel like most carts charge $15-16. They give you a lot portion wise and load up the white sauce

I love halal food, and I love places that open late even more. My friend highly recommended this food truck and after a long night out, it truly hit the spot. I recommend getting their gyro over rice. As you can tell, they give a really good balance of salad, meat, and rice. They were also super generous with the white sauce, which I love. I like the rice grains a lot because I've been to some halal food places where the rice grains are a bit too hard. Overall, 10/10 halal food. I will be coming back again and again.

So I have developed a halal addiction since a few weeks ago. My latest halal adventure happened while having drinks at the Low Down Lounge. Halal Time is right next door and conveniently open early. I had lamb shawarma and chicken over rice and it was so good. I was disappointed about the garbanzo beans given I had ordered it without but other than that, I was extremely satisfied with my food.

Halal Time is a good time! logistics: We came here after happy hour drinks in East Austin based off a recommendation from some guy with a podcast. We had street parking and just walked the couple blocks over. food: This is the perfect late-night, after drinks food. Given it was only 9pm or 10 pm on a Friday, it wasn't busy. They didn't have Falafel that night (probably because of the ice storm), but the lamb was cooked to perfection. That white sauce is the star. I think it's tzatziki and it's delicious on the rice and the fries! I ordered fries for the drive home and they were so crispy and warm. In-n-out needs to take some notes. service: The service was outstanding! The gentleman who took our order was so kind and helpful. He apologized multiple times for the wait and it had only been about 10 min. I really appreciated that even though I was perfectly fine waiting.

Excellent fries - huge portion! Like, seriously, absolutely the best French fries I've ever had!! The lamb over rice was also very good per my husband's discerning feedback.

Was looking for a quick and easy bite and saw this food truck with a decent line even after 9pm. I got the lamb wrap to share and it was delicious! Loved the flavors of the lamb and the veggies tasted fresh and gave the wrap a nice crunch. I appreciated that there were a few benches near the trucks that we could sit and eat out!

I was glad we were seated outside though because even though it was a warm evening, their fans were very effective creating a constant gentle breeze. The music enhanced the experience with a fun and upbeat vibe. I truly felt like was sitting at club/bar/restaurant during a cool summer night in Greece! Just incredible. The staff were also great! Friendly and accommodating from the time we checked in for our reservation. Our server was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with my gluten sensitivity! The food was delicious too. Shout out to the chefs! The village salad (also reminded me of a traditional Greek village salad) was refreshing, the hot honey halloumi was like nothing I have ever tasted before, I regret not ordering extra to-go!, the Lamb chops made me feel like we were celebrating Easter - the seasoning was spot on and cooked to perfection, the Lamb and beef kefta with rice was also tasty, but the lamb chops are the clear winner. Don't forget to get dessert! If you have a gluten sensitivity like me, you are safe with the Pistachio Panna Cotta. It was a flavor high I didn't want to end! Lol. But seriously, it was super delicious, sweet, and just the right portion. Also FYI: we shared every plate. It's the way to go there, and I'm glad our server recommended that we order everything up front and they simply bring it out as each plate is ready. (Except for dessert and drinks - order those at the appropriate times of course). Speaking of our server, Lauren S, she was on it!!! Not only was she able to serve us and other tables extremely well, there was also a very large party of around 15 people next to us that she also served. Yet she always seemed to be around when you needed her and always with a friendly smile and positive attitude. Shout out to Lauren!!! You were amazing. Thank you for making our anniversary dinner memorable. Can't wait to visit Aba again!

The indoor space flows nicely with the outdoors and feels trendy and polished without being overly formal. Parking is the typical South Congress challenge. There's access to the Music Lane underground garage (with a small validation discount from the restaurant) plus nearby paid lots and street options, but it can feel competitive and a bit chaotic, especially on busier evenings. Plan ahead or use rideshare if you can. Service was great--attentive and smooth throughout our meal with two adults and two kids. We ordered the whipped feta spread (excellent with the pistachios and oil; the house bread was a bit salty), Brussels sprouts (cooked perfectly), grilled chicken kebabs, the shawarma-spiced steak frites, and the grilled Branzino. The Branzino was the clear star of the show--flavorful and well-executed. The chicken and steak were mediocre at best. For dessert we shared the sticky date cake, which had a nice crunch outside and was warm and moist inside. It's a bit pricey (we paid over $240 for the four of us), but the setting, strong service, and that excellent Branzino make it worthwhile. I'd definitely come back.

I put in a to-go order for a kibbeh wrap; the price seemed typically high for the area, but when I got my order its quite a sizable wrap so all-in-all a pretty good deal! The food did take about 20 minutes to come out- I wasn't going to complain as there was a line of people the whole time so I could tell it was busy, but when I did get my food they apologized for the wait and gave me some free baklava so even if there had been hard feelings that would have 100% fixed it lol I'm a huge baklava fan and had actually been considering adding some onto my order but didn't because of the long line! So service was great, but most importantly- the food! The kibbe wrap was huge; I managed to finish the whole thing but in two different sittings lol. The kibbe was generous, and the pieces were flavorful and juicy. The veggies were fresh and crisp, and the whole thing was lightly sauced but the flavor of the kibbe popped enough that I didn't think it needed more sauce. Delicious and I would 100% order again. Plus the (free!) baklava was top notch! Sometimes you get the ones where the filo dough is a little tough/chewy and it still tastes great but the texture isn't there- not with this baklava! It was tender, delicious, and a perfect end to the meal. Parking was limited on the street but I believe the Triangle has garages also- I was able to snag a short term parking spot for MezzeMe which is actually why I originally decided to check it out!

It's easily my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in Austin, even surpassing Aba for me. The restaurant itself is cozy and inviting. While the decor is understated, it's clear that most of the attention goes into the food and drinks. Every cocktail and dish I've tried has been thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. One of my favorite dishes is the seared octopus. It's cooked perfectly--tender with just the right amount of char, never rubbery. You also can't go wrong with any of the dips. I ordered the classic hummus, which was smooth, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. The smashed cucumber with smoked labneh is another must-order. It's refreshing, savory, and makes the perfect appetizer to share. For drinks, I loved the Everything Bagel Martini. It's such a fun and creative twist on a classic martini, and somehow it really works. Overall, Ezov is a restaurant I happily recommend to anyone who enjoys Mediterranean cuisine. One of the first things you notice when you walk in is the eye symbol displayed throughout the restaurant. According to the staff, it's meant to bring positive energy, and honestly, the vibe starts working immediately. As first-time Ezov diners, we were completely captivated by the décor. From the beautiful oversized colorful lanterns to the vibrant graffiti art (which also extends to the exterior of the building) and sleek modern furnishings. The space felt both stylish and inviting. We instantly slipped into relaxation mode. Ezov's menu features Mediterranean-inspired dishes designed for sharing, so we selected three items: the Whipped Bulgarian Feta, Lamb + Beef Manti, and Grilled Branzino. Let me start by saying I don't recall ever having whipped Bulgarian feta before, and it was a delightful surprise. Smooth, creamy, and packed with flavor, the combination of honey and hazelnuts elevated the dish even further. The Lamb + Beef Manti was the standout of the evening and easily my favorite dish. It was an incredible explosion of flavors and textures...a thin, crispy flatbread layered with rich tomato ragu, tangy yogurt sauce, and chili oil. Every bite was absolutely delicious. If I could have ordered a second round, I probably would have. The Grilled Branzino, served with peas, kale, and peppers, was also enjoyable. To be fair, the kale was a bit coarse for my taste, but my friend happily took care of most of it. James, our server, was fantastic. He guided us through the menu, offered helpful recommendations, and checked on us at all the right times without being intrusive. While the shareable plates are on the pricier side, sometimes it's worth treating yourself to a memorable dining experience. Between the flavorful Mediterranean cuisine, the energetic atmosphere, and the opportunity to reconnect with a dear friend, our evening at Ezov was well worth the splurge.

We spent around $600 with tip and fees for 5 (mixed grill, two apps, two drinks each); and while the food was delicious the meats were luke warm not piping hot, our server while very friendly was not the best at giving suggestions (basically she said everything is good lol) and wasn't able to split the check 2/3 and 1/3 instead of 50/50 ("... I don't know how to do that"), and the cocktails while tasty didn't really feel special enough to be $21-25 each. It was a very enjoyable experience I just don't know that it lived up to the price tag. For that price I'm looking for exceptional not just very good. That being said the food was delicious! Pricey but pretty good portions. The server said the mixed grill was good for around 4 people, but with two apps it was actually a little too much food for the 5 of us. Mixed grill ($220): -Rosewood Wagyu Strip and Lamb Chops: tie between these two for the best dish; they were both juicy and tender and the sauces were delicious. Not served piping hot but they were so good I didn't really mind. -Harissa Marinated Beef Tenderloin: great flavor- a tad dry. -Spiced Lamb Kefta: also dry, I liked it best with the yogurt sauce. -Red Pepper Chicken Thigh: delicious, one of my fav kabobs. -Herb & Garlic Shrimp: tasty and not overcooked -Charred King Trumpet mushroom: loved the veggie option! they mushrooms were substantial and the sauce was great. -Crispy Shallot Hummus: very good- loved the crispy shallots in particular! -Manti Dumplings: top app- I would 100% order this again the dumplings were delicious and the sauce/yogurt on top of them was the best, we wiped up every drop with the pitas! -The pita bread was hot, fresh, and delicious and our service kept on offering more, so I don't know if they've changed their policy but my experience was not the same as reviews that said only one pita per person. We refused extra pitas 3 times I think! Cocktails- everything we tried was quite good, but again there wasn't the pizaz or just 'blown away by the flavor' to feel that the crazy price was totally justified. We tried: Spanish G&T (very refreshing- don't chew on the juniper berries lol), Banana Bread Old Fashioned (pretty good even for someone who doesn't much like whiskey!), Bonfire on a Beach (fun, smokey, love the harissa on the side), Peach Martini (teensy bit sweet for me but good). The manager stopped by a few times to check on us and our server was very attentive. She did give us good service its just for the high price I would expect some more detailed suggestions on drinks, being able to split the check other than 50/50 (or at least ask someone instead of just saying 'I don't know how'). It was friendly and enthusiastic service just not 'wow this truly is fine dining' service. Outside of the restaurant, parking is a bit of a pain but that is normal for down town. We parked at the Laz garage half a block away- $8 for 2 hrs instead of the $27 for valet.

This is a must get especially if you love warm and creamy stuff. The outside is nicely fried and if you never had it, it's similar to Japanese takoyaki. Although I love it a lot, the portion was just right for sharing because it really fills you up. We also got the potatoes (nice, but nothing that blew my mind) and chicken empanadas that I thought had a strange, sour taste. I wouldn't get that again. I highly recommend getting different tapas instead of the main courses so you can try different things. We were completely satisfied with the meal after getting these but still made room for the orange almond cake!! This was extraordinarily good!!
