Halal House is one of those places that reminds you why you should never judge a restaurant by its location. I'll be honest--the area isn't exactly what most people would call inviting. If you're the type who only eats at places in shiny new shopping centers, you might drive right past it. That would be a huge mistake. The food here is phenomenal. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The portions were generous, the meats were perfectly cooked, and every bite reminded me why great food can be found in the most unexpected places. This is the kind of spot that earns loyal customers through quality rather than flashy marketing. What really earned this review, though, was the staff. After finishing my meal, I realized I had somehow lost one of my AirPods. I didn't notice until just before closing time and figured it was gone for good. Instead of rushing me out the door, the staff immediately jumped in to help. Multiple employees looked around the dining area, checked under tables and chairs, and helped me search long after they could have simply locked up and gone home. Just when I was about to give up, we found it. That level of customer service is rare. The team was patient, friendly, and genuinely wanted to help, even though it was the end of a long day and they were trying to close. Great food gets people through the door. Pleasantly surprised by this spot after my wife suggested it. It's a bit unassuming, but the food was excellent. There was a short wait, which is exactly what you expect when everything is made fresh, and it was worth it. I had the kafta wrap combo and she had the chicken shawarma combo, both were packed with flavor and the sauces were outstanding. She had the zesty ginger drink and I went with the blossom tea, both were really good. The dining area is small but comfortable. I've had my fair share of Mediterranean food and Hilal House added another element to this cuisine, Moroccan food. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and the flavors I experienced at Hilal House. If not for the reviews on Yelp, I might have passed this place over. Not only was the food a delight but the owners went above and beyond to make sure I experienced their fare as close to authentic as possible. They even gave me the delight of experiencing Moroccan tea for the first time. The ambiance and atmosphere is nothing fancy but if you can get passed the carryout preparations, you will be pleasantly satisfied with choosing to eat and dine here. Nonetheless, I am likely not returning. Not for lack of taste, but rather the owner everybody raved about, just seemed to be having a rough day and I don't want to travel 20 minutes to just have a weird experience. I thought everything was going to be relatively normal, as we waited for a customer to pay their bill. Owner welcomed us. I started placing order...and THEN he just walked away towards the kitchen to take a moment and YELL at the kitchen staff. No notice. No explanation. Just turned and walked thru the kitchen doors. He was clearly mad at the world (not me, although maybe he is if he reads this review). He returned 30 seconds lter, and picked up asking us what menu items we desired. Just weirdest service experience in awhile. Love the food, just not the vibe. Halal House is a fabulous hole-in-the-wall and hidden gem located on Decatur and Oakey. The restaurant is by a huge billboard signage, in the same area as Fantastic Indoor SwapMeet. You'll find them right next to Chinese Cuisine Food Express. There's good parking available. Inside is a casual and homey atmosphere with adequate seating for up to 24 people. Despite the simple appearance, there isn't much decor, the focus is mainly on good value and great food, and I noticed customers were coming in for takeout. Menu offers a nice selection of starters and sides, assorted soups and salad, as well as entree for grilled kafta beef, grilled chicken kabab, beef steak, shrimp, lamb shank, and fish platter. There's also Moroccan Bocadillo in French Baguette, pita wrap, combo options, canned and bottled beverage. I ordered a custom bowl ($15.99) and opted for half saffron rice and half salad with a choice of protein for falafel, a side of hummus, tzatziki, and halal house sauce. It was served in a takeout bowl and presented so beautifully with vibrant colors, and very delicious! Falafel (3 pieces) is excellent, soft, crisp and has wonderful flavor! Saffron rice is delightful, has a lovely aroma and so fluffy. Hummus is fresh and creamy, tzatziki has a nice tang, and salad is very refreshing, there's a medley of crisp veggies and feta cheese, so YUM! The meal portion is actually perfect and price is reasonable. I tried Fried Eggplant ($5.99), it's magnificent and superb! The flavor and smooth texture is very appealing and is not oily, it's a side dish that I highly recommend and is amazing on its own or with pita bread, it's really good! For refreshments, they have canned soft drinks, bottled water ($1.50), tea, and mango lassi. I had Moroccan Hot Tea ($9.99), the drink is soothing and remarkable! Tea flavor has a lovely fragrant and pleasant sweetness, made of green tea, mint and honey, served hot in a beautiful Moroccan glass, and comes with the teapot for refill. There's a few desserts available including Fekkas also known as Moroccan biscotti, and Dubai Style Chocolate bar. I had Moroccan Cigar ($7), it's a light crispy pastry similar to a cannoli, but filled with ground almonds, infused rose water, sweetened honey, and taste incredibly delightful! Dubai Style Chocolate bar ($10) is sourced from another vendor, it's made of milk chocolate, inside has a wonderfully crispy kunafa pastry and pistachio paste filling that's absolutely delicious and not too sweet, I love it! Service from owner Anas (pronounced ah-nas) is very kind, welcoming, attentive, personable, friendly, and outstanding! The restaurant is family-owned. I did hear the owner yelling in the kitchen (which is nothing to be alarmed about), he is doing his job to make sure the food is cooked, and I can tell he puts a lot of heart, dedication, and passion in delivering great food, everything is made with high quality and fresh ingredients. This not an fancy restaurant but the Habibi's running it are so kind and provided excellent customer service. We walked and ordered a lot. The chef/owner stepped out from the back and welcomed us. He was gracious enough to tell us that the arugula had gone bad so he didn't want to use it for the falafel pita wrap and arugula salad. He was extremely friendly and we chatted with him the whole evening. I could see why his food was the best, because he had true passion for cooking. We ordered the following: Hummus: the BEST hummus in Vegas because it was fresh and creamy. All house made. Tzatziki sauce: also fresh made and tasted delicious. Fried eggplant: the BEST fried eggplant because it was extremely flavorful and well seasoned. Falafel pita wrap: the yogurt paired really well as a sauce with the wrap and made the falafels taste even better. Falafel bowl: amazing falafels that were perfectly crispy and not too hard or soggy. Well seasoned. The rice was appetizing, salad tasty, and the sauce amazing. Harira soup: reminded us of Indian dhal so we had no complaints here. After a long talk dinner session and chat with the owner, he let us try the Zesty lemon ginger mint drink and it was a perfect way to end the meal as as it refreshing and made a nice kick to the ginger. Okay, so we've tried a LOT of middle eastern places in Vegas, and this is one of the best! A little hole in the wall place off of Charleston, right next to the indoor swap meet. Great food in da House! Halal House is a new business that, per the gentleman whom I assume is the owner, has been open for about 3 months now. I was on the westside today and found this spot on Decatur near Oakey via Yelp, and it's gotten rave reviews so far, so I had to check it out. I saw some interesting beverage options, including a minty Blossom Green Tea and some sort of Zesty Ginger. However, the Mango Lassi ($3.99) seemed safer than the others. It was refreshing, with a light but not too light mango character with enough sweetness and creaminess to offset an intensely flavored food dish, such as what I had. For my lunch, I went with the Merguez Bocadillo ($16.99). I'm pretty sure I've heard of Merguez being a Moroccan specialty, and the bocadillo sandwich style must have spread here from nearby Spain, so this seemed like one of the more authentic options compared to other proteins or the pita options (not that those can't be great too). The sausage was 100% ground beef and freshly/recently made in-house, as the owner proudly boasted to everyone, and it was pretty tasty with harissa and/or other warming spices. The bread wasn't too heavy, the fries added filling without distracting from the merguez, and the spiced mayo was portioned lightly enough. I also ordered a takeout platter, the Lamb Shank ($22.79), for dinner. It's a huge bone-in piece of lamb with a lot of yellow basmati rice. This was definitely a bit more intense, possibly due to a little moisture loss? It's not like it was too dry when I got to it. Definitely try to eat it fresh (perhaps shared with someone), and expect big flavors including warming spices. And in case you're wondering, no white or red sauces were needed. Halal House is a great new restaurant with Moroccan and other Mediterranean food options. No tagine dish is on the menu yet, but I did see at least one of the requisite cooking vessels on premises, so who knows about the future? I'll have to make another trip soon to try more of what they already offer. read more

We are so grateful to have found this gem on google. Everything was fresh and delicious. Here's what we had and our review: - The lamb shank, covered in fragrant spices, fell off the bone, and the rice it was cooked with would have been a satisfying meal on its own. We saw fresh bay leaves in our dish - always a good sign of home-cooking. - The spices in the kofta sandwich were perfect, not too spicy but very flavorful and the kabobs were incredibly juicy. And the hoagie roll was crisp on the outside, soft in the center, so clearly fresh - The gyro sandwich was also delicious, covered in what tasted like a fresh tzatziki sauce, fresh tomatoes, fresh onions, fresh parsley, etc. The bread was soft and fresh - fries were crispy and scrumptious, straight outta the fryer - the ginger drink made with fresh ginger and fresh lemons daily was the perfect way to quench our thirst in this over 100 degree weather and boost our immune system before our upcoming hikes And the owner was so friendly and engaging. I ordered the same thing twice now and both times have been extraordinary: -Lamb Shank (the meat melts off the bone and the seasoning + veggies on the rice is not overwhelming at all even my picky 5 year old eats this!) -Lentil Soup (this is by far one of the best lentil soups I've ever had and reminds me of a grandma's cooking 100%) I really wanted to try something new but I just had to order the same thing because how good it was!
