Halal Spot is a place that has slowly but surely crept up on my radar the last few weeks…read more Apparently, the reviews here are very good. One thing however that did make me nervous about the quality here is that halal foods in Waterbury have so far been complete misses if my past reviews are to be believed. This was also my first time using Yelp to have food delivered. So let me first talk about how long it took from the time I ordered to the time I had my food delivered. The service was pretty fast. On my receipt, my order was placed at 9:33 PM. Initially, Yelp estimated my delivery time to be between 10:12 - 10:32. As of this point in my typing of this review, it is 10:11. When my order was received and confirmed to be in the works, the delivery time changed from 10:05 - 10:25. It actually took less time than that for my food to arrive! How do I know this, you might ask? At 9:56, I had decided to head downstairs from my apartment to check on my order and wait for the delivery driver. Little did I know, it had already arrived! So far, off to a great start! When I got back up to begin my dinner, I took photos first just to have something for my review tonight. I will say that the prices are actually very reasonable, but if you really want to save money, go to the restaurant and pick up the order yourself. I tipped $6.55, so my total for the delivery was $28.88. On my receipt, the total for the order itself was $16.63. If I do order from them again, I will make sure I go at a time that is not so close to closing. Onto the food. For the $16.63, it's not a bad deal. I got the cheesesteak combo, and I will say that the cheesesteak was definitely a decent sandwich. The meat by itself was seasoned well and was flavorful. When I bit into the sandwich, the cheese and mayo were the tastes that prevailed tonight. I do definitely prefer the cheesesteaks I have cooked up on my own, but this does hold its own. If I had been the one coming up with this on the menu though, I would definitely have this only have the cheese, the steak, and the onions. But still, I will say for its price you can do far worse. As for the fries, they were okay. They weren't very crispy, but you can definitely taste some pepper with this one. That pepper seasoning kept these from being bland. The food overall would be anywhere from a 3 to a 3 and a half. That 4th star I am going to award is because of how fast I got my food delivered as well as the reasonable pricing.

I did not expect to be as impressed as I was! I wanted to see what the difference in the chicken dishes so I had the boneless tandoori chicken tikka, chicken malai boti. Both are boneless chicken. The tandoori chicken tikka was my favorite, spicy but not overpowering, super juicy a lot of seasoning. The chicken malai boti was also juicy, but it is a very subtle light seasoning. Not too salty, not spicy, still with very nice char on it. I like that the chicken dishes did not come with rice as I don't eat it and it's a waste when I order elsewhere. I felt the prices reflected this, and you can get a side of rice if you would like! I also got the appetizer pakora chicken. It has a very light coating on it and is fried chicken, definitely was made fresh, I'm not sure how I would describe the seasoning but it was very tasty and unique. I didn't care for the dipping sauces, just personal preference. There's another very well-known Indian restaurant in town that I ordered from often and I have to say A&B is giving them a run for their money. Definitely will order again, if you like healthy fresh chicken at a reasonable price check them out!

I grew up eating Lebanese food, since my paternal grandparents were full Lebanese (therefore, of course so was my dad, and therefore I'm half Lebanese). This food tasted nothing like the food my Sittu (Lebanese for grandmother) or my aunts made... or even my mom, who learned to cook Lebanese food from my Sittu and from her sisters-in-law. We ordered appetizers to get a good range of variety. The service was sooooo slow. And the glasses seemed as if they had been sitting on the table forever. The food was tasty. I had the mustard shrimp and potato paratha. Both were amazing. My one complaint of the shrimp was that some pieces were without tails which gave the appearance that they were left over. It just seemed odd. The temperature of the shrimp were a bit under warmed for my liking but the flavor was amazing. They gave three sauces- that were all bursting with unique flavor. Some were spicy. I did see they were preparing a ton of uber eats deliveries and there appeared to be one person managing all of that. So it makes sense for the slow service. I think I'd prefer to order takeout to dine in. Although the dining room is gorgeous, I wish they had someone to be more attentive to customers and describe menu options with a bit of feeling.
