It makes sense? But still I was surprised that there's no yelp page for this halal cart. For years it's been here, although admittedly it wasn't the first in the area. The first is right on the other side of the block, next to a Chase Bank (that one is not as good). Looking at this fact I figured this would be the first business I personally give a helping hand to. Being a New Yorker, many upon many people will try halal cart food at some point in their life. I remember the days before it was such a big thing. Here's the problem with many halal carts, and it's that they all look the same, and taste the same. That, my reader is the exact reason why this place stands out. Unfortunately it doesn't stick out too much visually but I feel like people need to know how different it is compared to the other car next to Chase Bank, and countless other carts you will encounter. the difference is this, it's the chicken. This is the only place I have encountered thus far that will prepare the chicken as you order it. By prepare I mean take an unknown amount of it in a whole piece form (I'm pretty confident they use thighs) and chop it up, grill it, yadayada. The result is a much more fresh feeling product, even the infamous Halal Guys don't have such a feeling. Now allow me to answer a thought you may have. Yeah it's fresh, but what about the taste? Although I can't comment on what spices are used as that's a cart by cart secret I guess, I can say that the aroma and combination of flavors is far different. First off you have the freshly cut and prepared chicken, automatically making it better than the place next to it, but next you have the fact that they grill and cook onions and peppers directly onto it. Resulting in that fresh crunch that's infused into the flavor of the food. Go on, try it, it costs the same as most carts. (at the time of writing this review it's 5 dollars for a plate) Oh! last tip, although you also get the choice of freshly prepared lamb, with options of onions and peppers cooked into them the meat is still that same grunt amalgamation of lamb parts all carts get. Aka, get the chicken for a unique experience.

So the Morocho food truck I went to and am reviewing now was located at 6th and 52nd, next to a…read moresecond Halal Guys (there was also another Halal guys that had a huge line still at 1:30pm on a non-holiday Monday at 6th and 53rd - not sure what the diff was). The ambiance of food truck - like any other food truck but without the frustration of long lines. I came at about 1:30pm on late October Monday 2023. I was not about to wait in line for halal guys, and so I totally came across this food truck by chance. God provides! The guys on the truck Saul and Cecilio (I probably am not spelling this correctly sorry!) are so nice. I asked the guy in front of me for rec and also the guys on the truck. They all said the Saltado with steak. It's now $15 (I was looking at some previous 2021 yelp prices when it was only $11!!!) but considering the recent times, it was reasonable with all the inflation stuff. I was really hungry (haven't eaten for 8 hours at this point) so I ate the whole thing pretty quickly. I think it might not be enough food for a really big guy, but I was also really full after, so maybe it is sufficient. I was eyeing the "poor man's" burger and pork belly sandwich hard though, good thing I have several more days here in NYC to try those out. It's so close to the conference hotel I'll be spending the next several days in. Totally agree with Barney - it's definitely SMALL but the service was quick and they do take card!! I'll most definitely be back later this week for a quick lunch! Thank you Saul and Cecilio!

They're jam packed with goodness. They don't skimp here. - The stir fry is the bomb too. - The flavor is very authentic to Peru cuisine. Location: 5/5 - Right next to a wine shop. Convenience. - Right next to the Courtelyou train station on the Q. More Convenience. Value: 5/5 - It's nearly impossible to get a burger under $15 in NYC and odds are it's not going to be great. - Morocho puts out some seriously delicious burgers and food overall at a price that keeps me coming back. - I'd probably come back anyway, it's that good.

A halal truck in Sheepshead Bay that I can finally trust will give me my bang for my buck!…read more To be honest, I haven't tried too many halal trucks in Sheepshead Bay because (1) there aren't many of them and (2) the ones that do exist do not look too great. Typically, I would trek all the way to Bay Ridge on 4th Ave. to get some good halal, and I know that's a very long distance, but I swear I was crazy hungry every time I went! Anyhow, I did a little research online and BAM! Sammy's was the best and most rated halal cart on Yelp so I needed to check it out. My wife and I swung by, on a casual Sunday morning, and it was exactly where it was supposed to be located, on the corner of Coney Island Island Ave. and Brighten Beach Ave. As expected, there was no one waiting on the line on the busy street. What was surprising was that we were only charged $5 for each box of food! In the year of 2018, it's like finding gold when you find a halal cart that still sells chicken/lamb over rice for $5. By now, most carts are at $6 or even further north of that. So the verdict? Excellent quality! Being native New Yorkers, we considered ourselves halal cart food connoisseurs and Sammy's was right on with the best of them. We had a lamb over rice and a chicken over rice box and the meats were hot, fresh and tasty. The rice was also cooked perfectly. Besides the flavors, we loved the big portions too. We both added barbecue and white sauce onto our boxes of rice and the sauces were exactly as we have had elsewhere. Tip: Yes, barbecue and white sauce are the combination of sauces to go with! (not hot and white sauce) The bottom line is that you can trust the food quality and portions of rice from this halal truck. It's exactly what we were looking for. Best of all, now we no longer have to schlep ourselves to Bay Ridge for some good ol' NYC halal food because there's one right in our backyard!

In 2014 when I moved to Brighton Beach this was the best halal food cart around. The rice was the…read morereal deal -- perfectly cooked fluffy basmati with all the herbs and spices but none of that fake processed barely seasoned yellow rice you find in the franchised halal carts. The chicken was in identifiable juicy chunks and their sauces were legit the real deal. Today I had the chicken rice...and I was devastated. Like "The Halal Guys" assembly line carts throughout Manhattan and gentrified Brooklyn, the rice was radioactive-orange and tasteless, the questionable chicken was dry and gristly and the white sauce was -- I kid you not -- freakin' ranch dressing. I ate less than half but couldn't bring myself to finish it. Sigh. Another one bites the dust. Go to Gyro Express down the block. They have tandoori!
