I would give this place a 0 star if that was possible. The lady that helped us or should I say didn't help us! Claims to be the owner was so unprofessional and rude she messed up on my nephews suit charges my sister 325$ jus for the top half. When we asked about the pants she made it seem as if she was doing us a favor for her mistake. Don't go here for your prom needs she will make you think your all set n last minute not have what u paid for.. this lady is so lucky that I didn't want to go to jail. read more

Went here to look for a wedding dress for my plus size daughter. Was surprised that there were very few plus size options. The manager showed us several "gowns" in "similar styles" but very few actual wedding dresses. She encouraged us to look at pictures and "similar styles" and then order a dress from this piecemeal process! The manager was nice and helpful, but the poor selection and the fact that we couldn't try any dresses on that were in the style she was looking for was disappointing. Worst service EVER!! If I could, their rating would be in the NEGATIVE. This company has the absolute WORST customer service and they cannot hold themselves accountable for anything. All she ever does is blame everyone but themselves. I ordered all the tux rentals, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, mother and grandmother of the bride dresses, shoes, clutches, and more from this store to end up receiving the worst service of my life!!! Just a COUPLE of examples... 1) The day after you place your order you will be guaranteed to receive a call asking what the order was, what the color was, and what the style was. Apparently she can't read her own writing OR she doesn't know how to write down the damn order. 2) BEWARE there are technical color names and if you get confused even if she knows that color does not come in the style she will order it and not question the concern. When everything comes in it'll be YOUR fault that the order was wrong and MAKE YOU pay for her to re-order it in the correct color. She will not just exchange it, but she will charge you for a whole new set so technically make you pay twice. 3) The bridesmaid dresses won't come in until the day before the wedding although she tells you at the time of ordering that they will be there in January for a March wedding. We then make arrangements to have her meet us at the hotel on Friday and pay her the travel fee to do the alterations as many are coming from out of town. She agrees to be there at 3:00 PM, BUT at 5:00 PM she's still in Hilo. The bridesmaid dresses were not completed until the day of literally a couple hours before the ceremony!!! Believe me there were MANY more scenarios including kicking out our wedding assistant from her store, throwing our items on the table, and NOW just bad mouthing us to EVERYONE in the community including our family members when they went to pick up their items. Obviously they have no sense of customer service if they have the balls to talk crap and blame us for everything to our own parents. If you want more details please feel free to ask! read more

I really don't think it has gotten any better here since the beginning of the reviews to now. I went in with my good friend to help her find a wedding dress. It was the bride, myself (bridesmaid) and another bridesmaid. We all were looking for dresses for a wedding that was a year away. The main sales woman was very nice to the bride, but cold and rude to the bridesmaids. It really made no sense. The bride came in with pictures and an idea of what she wanted, even from a brand Haku Formals sold but there apparently there was nothing that this size 4 bride could fit into or even look at that was remotely close to what she wanted. It was obvious the sales woman was trying to sell her old stock before the new year's styles came in (in a month). Then it came to me, a larger girl but I wear 14-16 in dresses. So not an outrageous size that there would be nothing. The sales woman gave me one dress to try on and as she was leaving the fitting room warned me, "Don't force the dress on. If you rip it you'll have to buy it". It was a size 26! I put it on, zipped it up, let go and it fell the the floor. Wasn't even close. But the sales woman continued to insist that there would be nothing in the store for me to try on and that I would need a style with lot's of ruffles around the mid-drift to cover my stomach. The other bridesmaid had very little luck as well. She was also a size 4 like the bride. But the sales woman wanted nothing to do with the bridesmaids. All in all she tried on 3 very unappealing dresses. Eventually, we all left. I had to return several months later to order my dress from them as they were the only Mori Lee vendor in town that could get the specific dress I wanted. Even my second appointment with them, the woman was 20 minutes late and still very rude. I do not recommend. However, they are almost all we have in Hilo. :( read more

Went to pick up daughters wedding dress the very next day the owner said she opened at 10:00 am also the website said 10:00am. Left messages on her voice mail no returned calls left at 10:40am and returned that afternoon at 1:00pm picked up the dress and she was rude and very defensive she said "I can open and close whenever I want" but I said not when we made an appointment to pick it up at 10:00 am! I highly recommend Haku Formals as the best place to find your wedding or prom attire. When my niece was turned down from another bridal store, Haku Formals went beyond the call to help. Even though the wedding was in 3 weeks, and she had 5 wedding going on, she still took us and treated us as if we were tbe only bride. She had us look at books and she got a feel of what we liked. Within minutes my niece was trying on gowns and we left with the perfect gown. Haku formals staff were so pleasant and so cheerful. They made us feel so welcomed and took all our stress away. Store only gets 2 stars because I did somehow find a silhouette that I liked. If I hadn't, there would have been 0-1, based on service and selection. My mom had made an appointment here when I went to visit some months back, and we thought it would be a great place for a first dress shopping appointment, especially since girls on the island tend to have a body shape/size closer to my own (plus size), and it was the only real shop in town. The experience was, well, lacking. Bathroom was out of order due to some flooding, so mom had to go to the gas station across the street. No offer was made at all to assist in and out of the dresses, even though we had said it was my first time trying dresses. As in, I had never gotten in or out of a big, heavy wedding dress before. There were VERY few plus-size samples in the store, and to make matters worse, a walk-in customer came in shortly after us, and the only person working pretty much ignored us and left us to our own devises while she went off to help the walk-in, even though we had an appointment. My guess based on the lack of selection and service is that most brides go off-island to do their dress shopping (and if they don't, maybe they should). read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT! My son rented a tux for his senior prom and he was not informed of when to have the tux fitted or what time the pick up would be. The day before his prom he went to the shop and was told that my credit card did not go through (I was never contacted regarding this) and they proceeded to run the same card number which magically worked this time around. The tux was ill fitting and there was no offer to hem or to help him have the jacket fit better. The service was poor and overall very unorganized. I do not recommend this business to anyone. On a side note, there are other businesses in town such as Love and Lace as well as Simply Said who offer better service and don't leave you annoyed at paying such a high price. read more

Being newly engaged, you want to find that perfect dress and have that happy moment finding it. This is not the place to look. I think it's only the one lady working there because I remembered her since I bought my homecoming dress there. Anyways, I first walked in and I told her I was looking for a wedding dress. I told her my budget and it seemed like she belittled me after telling her. She kept saying "I'll just have to work with your budget." Sorry if I don't want to pay thousands of dollars on fabric. After telling her my budget she did not let me look through dresses at all and insisted that she picked them out for me. I told her simple with a little detail work. She kept picking out these poofy ball gowns. So I asked her a few times if I could just browse through some dresses and her only reply was "but because of your price point, I can't let you do that, it's just easier if I picked it." I felt so offended. Did she not have price tags? She did not let me try anything without paying her a fee, which I understand for trying on dresses and local businesses need to make money, but what if I don't find something I like on my body. That would be completely wasted money. So I absolutely do not recommend buying any sort of dress or tux from here. This was a sad experience. I do highly recommend simply said!! They took me with open arms and the worker was so welcoming and I did end up finding my perfect dress there for only $450!! read more

Not worth your time to go here. I had an appt for bridal fitting and she reportedly didn't have enough pins (which seems absurd to me seeing as she is a seamstress) so I had to come back a couple days later and she wasn't there for my appt. She had a lot of excuses about why she missed my appt and I just went back there to pick up my dress and take it to another seamstress. It was very upsetting and really sad that someone can take such a magical time of your life as a bride and make it into something frustrating. There is no respect for their customers time. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Not worth your time going. The dresses are overpriced and when you get the dress, be prepared to make drastic alterations. (I was under the impression that I was only going to need to hem my dress). I am a size 2/4, paid rush order to get a bridesmaid dress and it ended up being a size 8! Apparently they order your size based on your waist so when I got the dress it was huge! And You would think the waist would fit perfect since they went off of that but nope! I have to take everything in!! Not worth it. My $180 BRIDESMAID dress is going to end up being close to $300 after all my alterations. The only compensation they gave me was to do their alterations through them. My brother got married at the beginning of this month in Waikoloa. They ordered a suit for the ring bearer that they didn't receive till the day before the wedding and it was two sizes two small. And it took so long to come in that if my brother and his bride didn't have a back up plan they would have been screwed. The shirt that I was fitted for was too big. The other groomsmens shirt was two sizes too big. We ordered regular ties and received bow ties 5 days before the wedding. So we went and bought ties rather than dealing with this so called professional. I went in to pick up our order on Friday. Nothing was ready to go. When we got to Waikoloa the other groomsmens shoes didn't fit. None of the shoes we received fit him. He had to go to the store and buy new shoes. I had to purchase a new shirt. My brother, the groom, had completely different shoes the day of his wedding than the day he tried um on. When my brother went to speak to her about it she started yelling and quoting bible verses at him. When the bride and I went to get a refund on the ring bearers suit she blamed me for the whole ordeal and said it was because I picked up the suits too early. Also when she ordered the grooms shoes she never explained to us that the shoes that came in were size 18 and not size 8. She never mentioned through the whole renting process that there was a problem with shoes. This was the worst experience we've ever had and I would never put anyone through the stress we went through throughout this process do not go here!!!!!! read more
