I came in really excited because the salon's social media gives off such a fun, welcoming vibe, so…read moreI was expecting a completely different experience. Overall, I'd probably give my visit around a 3.5/5.
When I arrived, the door was locked, and once I got inside, I was the only client there. Granted, it was a Wednesday around 3 p.m., so I understand it may have just been a slower time. I was also under the impression that the stylist I had seen on social media would be doing my hair, but that wasn't the case.
My stylist, Daniela, was incredibly sweet and did a lovely job on my hair. I want to make that very clear because she was kind and professional throughout my appointment. However, she did not speak English, and I don't speak Spanish, so there was a significant communication barrier. She had to call Nora, explain my hair to her, and then have Nora communicate everything back to me. I had originally considered going shorter with my haircut, but because I couldn't communicate directly with my stylist, I didn't feel comfortable making those kinds of decisions. That was probably the biggest disconnect for me.
The other surprise was the pricing. I had seen pricing around $120 and mentioned when booking that I had a 20% first-time-client discount. Before my appointment, no one asked about my hair length or explained that the price could be significantly different depending on my hair. I was told during the appointment that my hair was considered long, although I personally wouldn't consider it extremely long. Nora quoted the service without actually seeing my hair or a photo of it. I believe the total was around $198 before the discount and approximately $150 after it.
I do like how my hair turned out, and I'll have a better idea of how I feel about the actual cut once I wash and style it myself. Daniela truly did a nice job. Unfortunately, for the price, the communication barrier, and the overall experience, I don't think I would return.
I specifically chose this salon because their social media made it seem like I would be getting more of an elevated, personalized experience, and that just wasn't what I experienced that day. I can get a great haircut and blowout much closer to home for significantly less, so it would be difficult for me to justify coming back.
Would I recommend them? Possibly. If the pricing works for you and especially if you speak Spanish, you may have a completely different experience. My hair turned out pretty, but for me, the overall experience just didn't match what I expected based on their online presence or the price point.
