I've been wanting to get my hair permed for awhile now so I finally decided to see if someone could squeeze me in before I go back to work. This was the second place I called (in the same complex but the other one was on vacation for a week). They had time for me same day, so yay! At 10:15, she says I can come in at 11. At 11, there are a couple of walk-ins ahead of me, but she STILL had me in the chair by 11:10 since she is apparently ridiculously fast at doing good looking men's haircuts. (Disclaimer: that is "good looking haircuts for men", not "haircuts for only good looking men". The haircuts looked good, not the men. I'm sure she doesn't discriminate.) Anyway, grammar aside, she was very prompt. She washed my hair, put it in the curlers, applied solution and set the timer for 20 minutes. 3 other gentlemen walked in while I was setting and she knocked out all 3 in that 20 minutes. And the haircuts still looked good. She really is fast. The only downside to this whole thing is that the towel around my neck and the cotton wrapped around my curlers (anyone that has ever had a perm knows what I am talking about) was not nearly tight enough, so after a while, I started to get pretty tingly. And then burny. And then uncomfortably. I dabbed it away as best as I could but as I am sitting here this evening I noticed that I have a kind of gnarly chemical burn (Excuse the quality of the picture, it was hard to take a picture of the back of my own neck.) Once the initial irritation happened, I didn't realize it was still bad since the skin kind of went numb. I should mention though, I have EVERY intention of using this place again. Other than the burn, I love how my hair came out. I love that her prices are posted right at the front and that was exactly what she charged. $55 for a head of beautiful curls is a great deal. I'll just have her tie multiple towels very right next time. * * * Update * * * One more downside I have noticed: it has been almost a week now and my hair still reeks of the perm solution. Especially at the nape of my neck where it doesn't seem to have been rinsed enough. It leaves my fingers smelling like it when I touch my hair and neck and other people can smell it too. I didn't know this could be a problem since it has never happened before when I have had perms. Next time, I will ask for an extra long rinse and make sure the solution gets off my hair, nape and neck area. read more

I was recently looking for somewhere in Ramona to get a quick cut/style and saw the good reviews for Rida at Hair Etc. I liked Rida as soon as I met her...she's a bundle of positive energy! Rida listened to what I wanted (just a trim, still need to be able to pull back my hair)... she did exactly what I wanted. Her prices are VERY affordable. Soon after I sat in the chair, there were a handful of ladies watching me off and on ... some combination of wondering when we'd be done and admiring Rida's work, I think. As I left one of the ladies raved about my hair ... I was very happy, as well. A couple of my neighbors complimented me too and one started going to her regularly for a wash & style. Rida does BEAUTIFUL blow-outs! I am torn between 4 and 5 stars. Rida's work and the awesome price rate 5 stars. The salon is older and lacking in atmosphere, hence why I'm going with 4 stars overall. I personally don't care but I know so many ladies that do... and as my husband says, it's often about expectations. And even if you make an appointment, be prepared to wait. Rida is a busy lady! p.s. Even when she is busy, she can figure out times and how to rotate the customers. I was in conditioner listening to the radio she had on, and a man came in to "trim up the edges for his date that night". After she prepared his hair and set the timer, she came and rinsed out mine and dried it. She finished him (looked great!) then fixed up my hair. All within no more than 45 minutes! This is the go to barber in Ramona for a lot of the ROTC kids and I have to say, it's the only place I don't dread taking my son to get his hair cut. The lady that runs this place can cut a perfect fade in less than 5 minutes and you're in and out. She never turns away business and she's very reasonably priced. $10 for a men's cut and $7 for a kid cut and she really does an amazing job. She cut my three year old's hair today and she gave him her phone to play on and he was happy as can be. Very professional, very fast, very affordable and you can't beat that. If I could give zero stars I would. However, I feel that it should be known that this isn't the place to go if you are used to high dollar hair cuts and are trying to save some money. The $10 is definite you get what you pay for. I don't know the name of the girl I saw, but I told her that my stylist normally buzzed and then textured my pixie hair style. She buzzed it so short she couldn't texturize it and I look like a Marine. She wanted to go shorter and I said no do a longer number. I had to get her to do the texturizing before washing and she just clipped through really quick. I'm so upset. I have never in my life had such a horrible cut from someone that didn't listen at all to what I was asking. read more

I had my hair highlighted here and was very happy with the result. They looked fantastic. So I went back about a week or two later for a trim. I specified that I only wanted an inch cut off the bottom. I was very specific and Rida even showed me how much she would trim off. Well my hair is about 3 inches shorter now. I feel very mad, sad, bummed, and it's been a week already. I don't like my hair shoulder length or in a bob.I'm not the socker mom type. The trim is a huge disappointment!!!!!
