If you follow my reviews, you know every 3 months I come into NYC on a Saturday so my wife can get a haircut. To pass the time, I usually walk around Chelsea Market with an espresso in hand and window shop. This particular weekend, I decided to drop her off and then zoom to midtown for a 90 minute hot shave / scissor cut. Walking into Chaps & Co has a more 21st century modern feel. You won't find a barber pole inside, instead there is a coffee bar. I was introduced to Brian, my barber for the session and sat in the large barber chair. If you've never had a hot towel shave, I suggest you treat yourself. Your face is your biggest asset. The barber uses exfoliating products to revitalize your skin. Then wraps a hot towel to let the products work their magic. Look at my picture, can you believe I'm 77 years old? Haha After my relaxing hot towel shave, he starts to cut my hair. As with any good barber, they have to be a good conversationalist. It seems like I struck gold, this guy was a car guy! We start talking about his car and I mention my old Chevy. The conversation kept going for over an hour. The end result? A fantastic shave & haircut. After I get up to pay, the front desk made me a latte to go. I've been to high end hair places like bumble & bumble. Chaps & Co has the process down, it's a great spot for a gentleman to get a hot towel shave and a haircut.
