Turns out the process wasn't left on long enough and I ended up with orange hair! I was so so upset. Went back and Lauren re-glazed my hair for free and it made it a bit better but was still orange. Went back again but to a different colorist and she said the same thing about not leaving the chemicals on long enough. She fixed my hair and it came out great! Went back to same stylist for a balayage touch up and again I was super happy with the results.

The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere and décor is warm, inviting and comfortable. To be honest my hair is important and in many ways defines my style, so it's comforting to know that the Christopher Moore Salon uses only the very best in hair care products and equipment...that's what initially sealed the deal for me. The plaza it's in honestly doesn't do the salon justice, but don't let that fool you. The space is chic yet timeless and the decorator did a really great job designing the space. Everything is super functional yet pretty and comfortable. Environment -- I always like to talk everyone's ear off when I'm stuck in the chair for an hour at a time. From the receptionist to the stylists, everyone working in this salon was super friendly and professional. There were complimentary snacks and beverages, the bathrooms were large and clean, as was the waxing room. Service -- As you'll see in my photo, my hair needed a serious upgrade. I went to see Joanna who is truly a master stylist. I don't trust anyone else to color my hair. Badly damaged with roots 4" long, I walked in struggling. I left absolutely glowing! She used her skills to turn my sad, neglected mane into fabulous and healthy hair. An Asian girl with blonde hair is no easy feat but she always pulls it off. If you're craving a color change, please go see her; from subtle to drastic and everywhere in between, she is an adept stylist with a master's knowledge of color, chemistry and end-result. Price -- It was $190 for the color, cut, wash and eyebrow wax and worth every penny. I'm honestly not the greatest judge though...You get what you pay for and I don't take any chances with my hair! She was thus denied a wig until she agreed that they outright shave her head. The owner obviously has these strings attached publicity stunt tactics as his goal is to put himself on a pedestal for social media responses, he does these 'acts of charity' for personal gain and self-admiration. He calls himself a man of the Faith, so he would know the Bible's philosophy of giving, yet his left hand most certainly knows that his right hand is doing the giving (for again, constant personal praise on social media). He has his followers (knows how to cover up with very pricey 'sheep's clothing), but he needs to truly be less self-serving (he's now running for political office to no doubt continue to serve himself) and self-loathing when folks call out that degree of narcissism. It would be great, ideal in all reality, if he changed his mentality - to actually assist others - without the attached strings and the self-serving/extremely self-righteous side.

I felt like my old salon wasn't listening to me and when I complained about the condition my hair was in it was attributed to my nerves and diet not to the multiple mistakes my hairdresser made. Helen was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. She told me the only true way to get rid of bleach damage was to cut it out. I was nervous but I gave her my ok. I wound up with the cutest neck length haircut!! It looks good straight and curly and thanks to the cut, conditioning treatment and recommendations Helen gave me -- my hair looks and feels so healthy. She even gave me a make to tone down the brassiness (I had colored it on my own). I am so impressed and have definitely found my new salon.

I went to the salon for a long overdue root touchup and highlight touch up. After consulting we…read moredecided to do balayage. The hairdresser Kayla told me that she had to glaze my hair two different ways, melt my roots as they call it and whatever else. The total was going to be $370 which I was more than happy to pay as long as I walked out of there with what we had discussed. Instead 4 hours later, I leave with a black route, a band of color right under the route that is green and then the rest a very light bleached out color with the ends green again. I called the salon owner and she invited me back to fix it. I had to leave work early the next day, drive 35 minutes, spend another two hours for a different hairdresser to fix it. The second hairdresser Rachel did a good job repairing the mosh posh of crap that the previous stylist did. However after 6 1/2 hours, two days, and $350, I am completely dissatisfied with my hair. It is nowhere near what I wanted it to be. It has about four different shades of blonde in it and as of last night it was completely damaged, frizzy and would not curl. The owners solution was to offer me my next service (of adding highlights to my hair in order to ATTEMPT to get it to what I originally requested) for free. Meanwhile I never want to step foot in that salon again. So I'm left with spending the money to look a certain way but needing to now walk around for two weeks dissatisfied and then go pay someone else to accomplish the original goal. To say that I am beyond disgusted is an understatement. The young lady that owns the salon needs to go back to get a second- degree in customer relations and go to cosmetology school so that at the very least she knows what questions and expectations to have of the hairdressers she hires.

Finding a great stylist at an affordable price is what makes the successful ones possible. I've had a few stylists at Revelations, and they are all top notch. They will help you decide what you want to do if you're on the fence. They will give you alternatives if what you want is not totally within your "hair potential." If you want to chit chat, they will. If you don't, they don't force it. I've been seeing Jamie for quite a while now, and it's a great partnership. I come out looking better than I expected which isn't an easy feat at my age. She's earned my trust. It's best to call for an appointment because they are usually busy. But if you do walk in, it doesn't really matter who you get because the caliber of the stylists are high at Revelations. They carry decent product lines and my hair is always soft and shiny when I leave. I also make my home product purchases here because I can trust they are authentic. I have been to other salons in Philly that are also excellent, and I've paid a heckuva lot more for the services. I hate including this in my review, and it is one of the reasons I've parked my hair there, but I think they could charge more for their services and not lose a lot of clients. I'm lucky that they are pretty close to where I live...but they are worth the drive if that's not the case for you. Note: Don't be discouraged by my travel photos!
