Reasonably priced, always on time. I'm a guy and those are two very important factors when it comes to hair cuts. Salons are nice and all, but all the "tiers" mean nothing to me. It takes less than 10 minutes to cut my mullet. That doesn't cost 30 dollars. And I certainly don't need my eye brows done. So I'm content with this change. I'm satisfied with this Hair Cuttery. Yah! This is the second time we've come to this location this month! Normally when it comes to hair, we always get it done in the dc area. It's one of those once you find someone you trust you don't go anywhere else. And in the past we've had bad haircuts in this area. My teenager needed a haircut so I happen to come across this place searching on Yelp and called them and explained that I needed someone who could cut curly hair. The person who assisted me referred me to Sharhonda because she specializes in curls. My son loved his cut and felt that she was easy to talk to. He showed her a reference picture and she did it exactly. Once my daughter saw her brother's cut, we knew she needed to go here. I didn't remember Sharhonda's name so I called and the person on the phone was so kind and found out what stylist I was looking for. He is very polite and super helpful. I never felt rushed on the phone and he genuinely listened to my needs. He was the same person who helped me book the first appointment (wish I remembered his name) Both kids felt everyone was nice, the place was clean, and they got haircuts that look like they went to a fancy salon (which btw I have tried one or two "fancy salons" around here and no one has ever gotten their hair right) Don't discount this place! I recommend just calling and explaining what you need and what type of hair you have and I'm sure they'll pair you up with a perfect stylist. read more

Everyone is so personable. I have been going to this location for 3 years. Rachael is our stylist. Recent visit took my teenage daughter to get color and cut. She wanted to go back to her natural color. Rachael ask her questions to understand what she wanted. My daughter was so happy with her color and cut. I got a cut with a gentleman named Stephan (I think that was his name, hard to hear with masks) and he did an excellent job. Checked in to make sure I got exactly what I wanted, checked on water temp in the sink while shampooing, checked on temp of the blow dryer, etc. the salon was clean and they are taking COVID precautions seriously. I recently had my first hair cut since the shutdown, and first trim in 7 months. As usual Nikki did a great job - better than the pricier salon I went to in the past. Not only that, they are taking COVID requirements very seriously and following the rules. Nikki came to the door (wearing a face shield and a mask under it) as soon as I got out of my car and asked me to wait a minute while she finished sanitizing. When I went in the salon was pristine. Only Nikki and one other stylist was there are not permitted to have more than a single customer each in the building at a time, and a max of 2 stylists. I kept my mask on the entire time because it did not interfere with my haircut. I'm not sure what they would do for someone who wants coloring or something like that. Nikki remembers my preferences, but checks to confirm what I want. Considering I had not been in for 7 months and usually only go in about every 3 months, that is impressive. I am happy with my cut and the care that was taken. I encourage others to support local businesses, make an appointment, and tip well. read more

I've taken my girls to this salon for years. Well, they just lost a good customer. I specifically go on 'off' times and ask when I check in 'how long is the wait.' (Appts shouldn't b necessary for a v easy kids cut...) After being told, 'only one person in front of you' - we were kept waiting 40 mins before we walked out. Stylists were arranging hair products instead of taking next customers, chatting in the back, then some guy slips in the back door and they take him ahead of us!! A guy in another chair was getting a buzz cut - took over 1/2 hour!! Wth?! You have people waiting. For you, time is $$. You will certainly not be getting any more of mine. read more

Please define "Salon Leader". My boyfriend's cut was done by the "Salon Leader". A week or so later, I am just getting more and more disgusted with the crooked cut, the jagged line, stray hairs. I've been going here for years. The stylists are all very friendly and talented. They don't rush through your cut when its busy like some other places. They use different products to show you new stuff but they are not pushy about trying to get you to buy them. I usually have Nikki cut my hair because its long, thick, and wavy and she really knows how to handle it. She always remembers whatever we talked about before which is really impressive because I don't go as often as I should (every 4-6 months). I recommend going at a time when you can make an appointment (they may not take them on weekends unless its a wedding or something). I would highly recommend this Hair Cuttery! read more

i have been coming here for years just for a cut, never anything amazing just a small trim. last light though i decided i would like my hair highlighted from honey blonde to platinum blonde. i asked the stylist (shay) if she could do it in just one time or if i would have to come several times to get it that color, I would've been completely satisfied if it took more than one time because at least then I wouldn't of been expecting something that wasn't going to happen. she said that she could totally do it in one time and that my hair was going to look exactly like the picture I showed her. I never been so excited she gave me my price $102 and I thought that would be reasonable if I was going to get exactly what I wanted, the platinum blonde highlights. she said that she didn't want me to see until she was completely finished I thought that would be even more exciting so I was there for 4 1/2 hours and by the end I looked in the mirror and saw that she had made no change to my hair at all. I was stunned, I was there for 4 1/2 hours and she had successfully done nothing to change my hair at all. That was my whole night and I spent it on nothing. then afterwords she still made me pay the full price which was $102 even though her and everyone else in the salon knew that she did a crappy job and that my hair looks no different and this was not worthy of $102. I walked out of there in tears for I have was so excited for my highlights and came out looking no different. When I went to school the next day and nobody noticed anything and that only reassured me that I hate hair Cuttery and shay. I was planning to drive down to Maryland the day after to see my cousin who I see only once a year and I wanted to surprise her with my brand new beautiful platinum blonde hair that my stylist promised to give me and that I paid for. that never happened. I just left extremely disappointed and so is my cousin when I told her about the situation she said that I should go back and get a complete refund but I know that the people in the salon would never do that because they're just about the money and less about the work.
