I did some research prior to booking, as I have very dense curly hair. Typically when I walk in, stylists are intimidated because not only is my hair EXTREMELY curly, it has about 3-4 different curl patterns. I explained to Brenda that due to all of this, my haircuts are uneven. Most stylists prefer to blow dry my hair straight (versus cutting it in its natural state) to make it easier to cut, but with my curls being different textures, the cut never comes out even. I wear my hair mostly curly, so cutting it straight kind of defeats the purpose. She said no problem and got to work! First she shampooed me because my hair had been in a pony tail. She cut my hair wet and took her time ensuring the cut was even and balanced throughout. Once she was happy with the shape, she rinsed my hair again. During the entire appointment she spoke about her family, and in turn I spoke about mine (which I never do since I'm very private). We laughed and the vibes were just there! At the end of the service, I could SEE my hair was cut correctly. I went home wet, styled it in the way I like it to be styled and this is the result. I went to Costco the same day and people were stopping me in the store to tell me how beautiful my hair is. It's definitely all because of this cut! I was very impressed with this Hair Cuttery Team. First, Mariah did a great perm for me. Second, the entire team (Mariah, Amanda, Brenda, and young man....I can not remember his name and another really funny black lady sorry I can not remember her name) made a great environment for several hours long perm! They helped each other. When one would finish a service they would ask another team member if they needed help i.e. unrolling curling rods, sweeping, cleaning etc... Third, the other customers were just happy with their services and I heard them say they were happy and would be back! I will continue with this Hair Cuttery! EDIT: Thank you Tiffany for fixing my hair. If you have curly hair, she is your girl. Picked out my hair, cut it dry. Was very communicative about what she was having to take off to correct what was done on Sunday. Once my hair grows out a bit, I'll be back for trims ONLY with her. I have very curly hair, the girl started off great by cutting my hair dry, after we spoke about what I was wanting, then more and more and more was coming off. I had below my shoulder blades length hair, came home missing 4 inches after I asked for the shape to be rounded out and some long layers put in because it was heavy on the bottom. An inch maybe two. I look like a poodle. I'm not happy. I can barely even put it up now. This is the whole reason I haven't had my hair cut in a year. I will NOT be coming back here. read more

I really feel very upset. I went to get a somewhat modern color change and I told the specialist that I wanted to lighten my hair. She recommended that I use highlights or a balaye and she showed me a photo of a nice light blonde in balaye and she told me If I liked it, I said yes and he started doing it. After washing my hair and taking me to the mirror, I was surprised that my hair was not blonde, but orange throughout almost all of my hair, and I told him, "I can't leave like this, my hair is orange and he told me that he was going to use a toner so that my hair doesn't look like that and I told him I'm doing my hair to look good for Christmas and my hair is horrible and it doesn't seem fair to me and he told me not to worry that with The other toner that he will use will be fine and I told him that I would not pay the same price since my hair was bad and he said ok that he would give me a discount for the inconvenience. In the end he did what he said, he washed me and my hair was almost black. I arrived with medium brown hair and some highlights at the ends and my hair was ugly, super dark and he told me that he wasn't going to take any more and that I said it was orange and that's why he corrected it. I was super upset and disappointed to see myself like this. I really wanted to cry out of helplessness and I told him to cut a few ends at the front since it looked burnt I didn't want him to cut more and he didn't even dry my hair he left it wet and to charge me at the end after having ruined my hair he told me to He was giving a 10 percent discount and I told him how are you going to make me pay only with that discount, look at how my hair is and that you have to pay the amount of 256.00 dollars already with a discount, I am still upset and helpless, there were a lot of people and I I didn't want them to see me cry with indignation at seeing my dark and damaged hair and I paid that amount to be able to leave. All my friends and family tell me why pay if my hair is damaged if they didn't give me the service I asked for. This salon does not know what time management is. I had scheduled an appointment, but didn't get in the chair till 30 min after my scheduled time. She cut my hair in 10 min (?!), ripped out my hair and then decided to wash my hair, but only used conditioner and wet my hair. I can't believe I tipped! Worst haircut ever! This is the third and final time I'll ever try this salon if you can even call it that. The ladies were fighting and they were rude. I waited for 2 hrs just to get my hair hacked at in 15 mins to the point I was in tears. My layers look so choppy and my hair is uneven everywhere. I told the girl I was unhappy and she just said "This is what you asked for. I don't know what to say?" Then I asked to speak to the manager and she said "the manager isn't here." Then she said " so I guess you're not going to tip me right?" Ommm NO! I didn't even want to pay because it was so bad but I did and left. Never again!!! I use Hair Cuttery for my 3 year old son's hair and they do a fine job. This is not the kind of place I would have my own hair done because the skill level varies greatly from person to person. Despite the corporation not being a role model for other like corporations by pushing stylists out of a job if they ask too many questions, the stylists at these chains are typically very well versed in cuts, styles, and color and work very well to please their clients. Some of these stylists have worked in expensive salons or for Walt Disney so it doesn't mean they aren't good enough to do adult hair. You get the same excellent talent at a Disney salon for example, that you will get at the Hair Cuttery. Skills are skills. If you aren't happy with one stylist, please try another. I've been going to The Hair Cuttery for 3-4 years, I've always asked for "Angie"...BECAUSE she is the very best hair dresser I've EVER had the pleasure of meeting up with! One other hair dresser did do my hair, one time, because I needed my hair done...quick, and Angie wasn't available, and she too, did an outstanding job... so sorry, I forgot her name...she too, was amazing! Angie is quick, precise and imaginative...and the prices are surprisingly less than one would expect! I get so many compliments on my "do", afterward! I had a DRASTIC transformation the first visit...my hair was long, and it was cut down to 1-2''in length, I DID look lot's younger when I left, than when I got there! When I do go there, I really NEED a hair cut and style (I don't go very often), so every time I do go, she does amazing work on my hair, which turns everyone's head, that knows me! I recently visited this Hair Cuttery around 6 PM on Friday evening, September 27th. I checked in online. It said 0 min wait. By the time I arrived, understandably seemingly people had come in and were having their hair done. I visited only for eyebrow waxing. I was greeted after a couple of minutes of arrival by a gentleman who only does hair, not waxing. He said it would be just a few minutes. This led me to believe it wouldn't be long, and the lady stylists were nearly done with the hair they were doing. I was thinking 5 - 10 minutes? I lost track of time, an ended up waiting for about an hour. Nobody followed up with me during this long wait or even acknowledged my existence. When one of two ladies finished doing hair, they cashed out the client, went to cleaning their station somewhat, then chatted with the other stylist, then also counted up her tips, and chatted and cleaned some more. By this time, the other lady stylist was finished with her client and starting to check her out, and also did not acknowledge me. I expected an update of that I would be next, the time, something. As I went to walk out the door and give up, one of the lady stylists said "hey you're next" and I responded, "no thank you." I felt like they didn't really care for my business and were pretty rude. I went to a nearby nail salon for eyebrow waxing where I was greeted right away, taken in right away (not that a short wait it a big deal), and given excellent service where I was acknowledged and chatted with (not the staff only chatting amongst each other except when they need to chat with clients). This is very frustrating as I had received good (not excellent) service up until then at Hair Cuttery, and liked that they are more gentle and easier with eyebrow waxing than nail salons, and a similar price. This place is a mess. Although the staff is usually inviting...the turn over is ridiculous. Every time I find one of the stylists I like the next time they are gone. I have had many bad haircuts from different stylists here...the motto seems to be quantity over quality. read more
