You have to appreciate a stylist who looks you in the eye and, with all the sweetness in the world,…read moretells you that silk press you so desperately wanted will look slightly crazy on your cute TWA and to come back when there are a few more inches of hair to "press". Yes, I thought I had enough hair for it to be straightened into a silky pixie cut resembling what I used to rock when my hair was relaxed. Stacey walked me through her silk press process and explained why my hair needed more length to achieve the look I wanted. In fact, her (somewhat) exact words were, "Honey, I'm not gonna take your money knowing you won't get what you want". I was grateful for her honesty and the dose of reality. So since I couldn't have a silk press, I asked for a proper haircut...and Stacey delivered - giving me a tapered cut that I was very happy with. As others here have said, Stacey is a talented hair stylist (able to work with relaxed and natural hair) with a wonderful spirit. I couldn't be happier to have found her.

I found though, that she did not really listen to what I had to say, as I found myself repeating the same information I gave her during my first appointment. The night before my relaxer and appointment, I put an olive oil concoction of peppermint essential oil and rosemary essential oil on my scalp. When I got to the salon, Stacey started asking me what relaxer my usual stylist used, I told her and she didn't know what it was because apparently "real" salons only use professional relaxer that burn your scalp. Less than 5 minutes after she began applying the relaxer to my scalp, my scalp was BURNING SO BAD. I asked her if my hair would fall out and she said no, and that my scalp would just be irritated. When we went to wash, she dug her nails into my scalp and washed my hair so hard, I thought it my entire scalp would come off into her hands. However, I didn't complain because I thought she was doing it to get the relaxer off. After that whole situation, she asked me if I had put rosemary in my hair and that it opens pores. She claims she smelled it while she was prepping my hair but said nothing, obviously, until the damage had been done. When I got home my head was so irritated and two days later, all the burns across my entire scalp started scabbing. The hair looked good though, but she put no product in it so it was very dry. I decided to give her another chance to do a protein treatment two weeks after my relaxer. She had me wait for hours. This review has been sitting in drafts for years trying not to tarnish her business.

Amanda, Megan, Wendy and Corey are the most talented colorist and stylist in the game. This review…read morehas been long overdue! Amanda and Corey are so so talented and amazing at their craft - you truly will not go wrong seeing either one of them. You are in the hands of true artists. I have been seeing Amanda for years for my color. She is extremely talented and has the ability to make what you want come true. She is constantly taking continuing education (actually they ALL do) and it completely shows with her technique and results. I made the error of getting my hair done by someone closer to home (I live in Gaithersburg) and while the look was beautiful my hair was completely fried. I put myself in Amanda's caring and talented hands again and she has been able to give me beautiful results without compromising the integrity of my hair. I will drive to her no matter where I live because she is that amazing! I highly recommend her! I see Megan and Wendy both for my hair. My schedule fits better with Megan's so I see her often. They are both extremely talented and I love that they listen to you with what you want done with your hair. When I came in after one year of not getting my hair done, I know bad, I just wanted a inch taken off and Megan was able to honor my request and still style and make my hair and ends look beautiful. They are amazing women, with amazing talent and love for their craft. I would give them all a chance if I were you as they work off of each other and work as a team cohesively. They are 100% worth the money and you will truly be happy with your decision to see them at their extremely cute and quaint salon!!!

With her, I always get the results I want -- and with others, I never quite did. Mae listens, she gets it, and she delivers every single time. I always end up going back to her because I know I'll leave happy and confident with my hair exactly the way I like it. Even after I moved, I still drive over an hour just for Mae to do my hair -- that's how good she is. When you find someone like that, you don't let them go.

I made the appointment for 1:30pm on July 26, a Sunday afternoon. A friend made a separate appointment for her and her daughter-in-law at the same appointment time. On June 26 I received a text from the salon inquiring about our hair length and thickness to make sure we were booked for appropriate length of time. Great! Confidence inspired. The week of our appointments, on Tuesday and on Saturday, I received emailed appointment confirmation requests that required me to click on a link to confirm which I did each time. The emails also advised if we were late or cancelled we would be subject to a $25 fee. Totally fine because this is for a wedding and important--not cancelling and certainly not showing up late. At 11:50AM on the date of the appointment, I get a text asking if we can come in at 1:45pm instead of 1:30pm. I replied that no-we really can't. We have a wedding. Whoever it was texting replied--no problem--1:30pm is fine! We all four show up at 1:30pm which was apparently far from "fine". No one started on my hair until 2:05pm. The other 3 had theirs in progress at varying times later than 1:40pm. At no time did the receptionist come over to where I was sitting to offer any kind of explanation. She walked past me multiple times with no eye contact, no offer to refill water. I am starting to go in full panic mode as we were supposed to bring lunch and drinks to the groomsmen, I still need to walk back to the Hyatt, do makeup, get dressed, get the food and catch a shuttle to the wedding that is 15 minutes away. My stylist apologized when she finally started my appointment and said she had to "finish another girl up." They had to have either squeezed someone else in knowing that there was not adequate time (hence their text) or a person showed up late. Either way, 35 minutes late to start my appointment that they confirmed several times and then told me "1:30pm was fine" is absolutely unacceptable. When I went up to pay, there was no apology, no offer of a discount. I didn't blow my top because at that point, why? There's no way I'd entrust them again with keeping a schedule on an important day. I had to have someone else pick up the food. And mind you, this was a military wedding. Do you know how often I get to see my son and buy he and his friends lunch on an ordinary day, much less on an important day? Not very often. Rare in fact! I wish I would have done my own hair and saved myself the stress! Nothing like paying someone for panic.
