Late Sunday night around 11pm, I started desperately searching Yelp for salons near me with great reviews. I kept seeing amazing things about Lox & Hue Hair Salon, so I decided to trust the reviews. Using AI, I sent messages to three salons -- including Lox & Hue. I heard back from another salon first, but first thing Monday morning I received a message from Jaimie, the owner of Lox & Hue. She told me she was on her way into the salon and would let me know if they had any openings that day. She was immediately on it. When I explained in my message how upset and devastated I was about my hair, Jaimie went out of her way to work me in. I was already so grateful before I even walked through the door. I ended up seeing Kathleen, and the second she smiled and said hello, I just knew I had found my salon. She is so sweet, incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and so easy to talk to. She took the time to go over everything with me before doing anything at all -- explaining the plan, asking questions, and making sure I was comfortable and confident with every step. When she finished... I'll admit, I cried again -- but this time happy tears. My hair turned out beautiful, blended perfectly, and better than I ever expected after what I went through. I am so thankful to both Kathleen and Jaimie. They didn't just fix my hair -- they restored my confidence and completely saved my New Year's. I will forever be grateful and will absolutely be a loyal client going forward. If you're on Yelp searching and wondering where to go -- this is your sign.

Your salon, Crimson Rose made a grave error failing returning a new business request especially, when I, the customer personally visited your salon which you are quickly blaming your customer for your faux pas, as the owner, Trista losing the Crimson Rose's "notebook" your salon directly instructed writing my contact information succinctly explaining my hair salon request; however, I will refuse your request not removing my review. "FYI: I have reported your written conversation you wrote to me with YELP Headquarters and Yelp Elite despite, you find directly attacking my character by which, you deemed wise and prudent." Moreover, my YELP review remains status quo: I will never patronize Crimson Rose Salon due to no customer service rendered despite, writing my hair salon request in the Crimson Rose's notebook in late December 2017 which was inadvertently lost by your hair salon, Trista-you never called me nor gave a response until May 14, 2018: I summarize you read my recent May 2018 review for another hair salon! As a prospective salon customer, I deduce I gave more than ample time responding to a patient customer's hair salon request; what I find more repugnant is Trista, the owner of Crimson Salon personally attacking your Yelper's review and character as wise and prudent via personal YELP messaging is egregiously unacceptable, business behavior.

I have been torn about writing this review for several weeks. I had my hair cut by Alyssa, after…read morehearing great things about her. She was very sweet and personable, listened closely to what I wanted, and was cautious in her approach. I just think she either did not have experience working with the type of precise bob I wanted, or maybe didn't have experience working with my hair type (thick coarse Japanese hair). The first round, the cut was longer than I had asked for, which I totally appreciate her erring on the side of caution, especially with a new cut and new client. When I mentioned the length, she had no problem going back to take it up some. Then, I noticed one side of the cut was substantially longer than the other side. I mentioned this as well, and she did her best to fix it. At this point, I realized she probably just didn't have the skill to do what I wanted, so I cut my losses and called it a day. She didn't use any product to style and didn't seem like she was used to using a flat iron. My hair is still pretty uneven in several places (and not like in a cute, funky way. Like the way when your mom takes you out to the garage for a "trim" to save money) It wasn't thinned out so it doesn't lay right. I ended up making an appointment with my old stylist in Sacramento to fix it, and I am counting the days until then. I feel bad leaving a negative review, but I also don't want someone else to end up in my shoes. It seems like she would be great for color jobs, or basic trims/shaping on long hair. Because I have hair that can be hard for less-skilled stylists, and definitely had a less than desirable first experience, I won't go back.

How very disappointing. I made an appointment a week in advance and when I arrived the door was…read morelocked and nobody home. I waited 15 minutes and called but the voicemail was full. Manicurist Kacie Pickard…read more530/313-0663 Kacie Pickard is a member of the cooperative: Dynamic Images. She was suggested to me by a friend who recommended her quality manicure and nail rehabilitation. A previous manicurist had damaged and further aggravated by my naturally frail nails. This seems to happen too often in most shops I've visited over time. Kacie is clean, observant and sensitive to detail; she maintains an especially clean environment, uses clean tools, and maintains excellent ventilation--i don't smell fumes. She's not overly talkative (which is a ++) yet bright and pleasantly social. I use Kacie's services for UV silicon polish, which she does tastefully, without damaging surface layers of my nails with files or other abrasives in preparation for polish.

When I moved here, my BF's sister referred me to her amazing stylist. I went to see Jackie and…read moreloved her work but I hated driving to Sacramento to get my hair done. So, when Jackie raised her prices from $120 to $150, it was time to shop around. Dynamic Images in Placerville was less expensive, closer to Cameron Park, and had good reviews. I kept getting their voicemail when I called so I left a message that they could call or text my number, whichever was easier. After that, Donna & I were able to connect. Their website prices are: 1) Partial Highlights are +$50 and if you add a Base Color (+$60) underneath then the total is +$110. 2) Full Highlights are +$95. When I spoke with Donna, I told her I had mid-back, thick, blonde hair but it had been 5 months since I had my highlights done. I was open to option 1 or 2 to refresh my color. Donna told me if I picked option 1 or 2 that her price was $120. I cancelled my appointment with Jackie and went to see Donna at 12:45 PM on April 10th. When I arrived, Donna was working on another client. For about 15 minutes or so, I looked online at blonde pictures and screenshot the ones I thought were closest to my color. When we sat down together, I asked Donna which picture looked most like my hair color. I went with the blonde color Donna picked thinking it was the easiest, most realistic color for her to achieve with my hair As I put on the smock, Donna changed the price to $170. I'm still getting the same full highlights at $120 and the picture just gave me an idea how the highlights would turn out so why the $50 increase? Donna doesn't really explain and I'm feeling like I should walk out. If I hadn't cancelled Jackie, I would have left. But now it would take weeks to get back in with Jackie so I said okay to Donna. Donna put in the foils and then left the room. There was no opportunity to get to know her or talk with her about my hair. I ended up talking with the ladies next to me about Yellowstone's 1923 finale. After the foils were done, Donna washed my hair. I was surprised my hair was darker, almost muddy. Even though it was wet, after so many years of highlighting, you know when the color is right. I hoped the blow dry would prove me wrong. Oddly, Donna air-dried my hair instead of giving me a blow out. So I couldn't judge a $170 color job because my hair was frizzy from air dry. I tipped Donna 20% because I thought if I gave myself a proper blow out at home and ended up loving the color then I'd have left on a good note to come back. As soon as I got home, John said, "Why is your hair brown?" It bothered me that I walked in with blonde hair, paid $200 total for full high-lights, and walked out with brown hair. So, I texted her. Donna said she quoted me $150 over the phone, which isn't true or I would have stayed with Jackie at $150. Donna texted me she would give me "a FEW highlights" between clients, "no blow dry" (leave with wet hair), and I had to come in at her schedule "within 2 weeks." Sensing attitude, I asked if it would be better if the owner fixed my color. Donna replied that I would have to pay if someone else fixed her work. Donna told me to arrive 11 AM April 24th. My car battery was dead that morning so I sent her a video to show her I wasn't making it up. I got the battery replaced at O'Reilly's by 2 PM and kept trying to reach her to reschedule. Donna rescheduled for 9:45 AM May 1. I arrived 15 minutes late. Donna came out to my car and told me that she wouldn't fix my hair. This felt like deja vu when Donna quoted me $120 over the phone for full high-lights and then flipped the script when I got there - except now she's been paid. When I said she was 15 minutes late the first time we met, Donna smirked, laughed it off, and made no offer of help. I honestly felt this was the FU moment Donna had been waiting for. Because I had rearranged my schedule to Donna's and drove to Placerville so she could fix her work and ended up with nothing. I went inside and told the owner, Fay, that Donna wouldn't fix my hair. From behind Fay, I saw Donna walk forward, see me, turn around and hide. The owner repeated Donna's version, which not only was untrue but shame on the owner for not reaching out. No help was offered so I told Fay I would write a review of my experience citing "the lack of kindness." In conclusion, if you are new in town and looking for a salon, do not go to Donna unless you're a glutton for punishment. For $200, girl, you deserve a better quality experience.

Kelly cut my hair for over ten years. I've always loved her work, which is why it pains me to say…read morethat I won't be using her any longer. A few weeks ago my young children had their first appointment to get their hair cut by her. They stopped by my office a few blocks away on the way to their appointment. I didn't know, but my nanny had gotten the appointment time wrong. Kelly texted me that my family never showed up. I was with clients and didn't see her text until over an hour later. There was no subsequent text or call to say that they had arrived. About the only explanation that fit those facts were that my children and nanny had been abducted. I was still with clients, but called Kelly in a panic. She didn't answer, so I left a voicemail telling her to call me. I then spoke with another stylist at the salon, Kaley, who informed me that Kelly had left and she had cut my kids' hair. When I asked Kaley why nobody thought to call me about this she rudely replied that that wasn't her problem. Later that evening I got a text from Kelly saying she was glad that everything worked out. I replied that I certainly didn't consider this "working out" and asked that Kelly call me at her convenience to discuss what had happened. It was important to me that she know it isn't okay to use text messaging to tell a parent that their children are missing! Something that important requires a phone call. She refused to call me, just replying with text after text saying that my kids missed their appointment and there was nothing else to discuss. After five text exchanges of me saying it was important to me that we speak and her saying there was nothing to discuss, Kelly left me a voicemail telling me to stop harassing her and to never contact her again. So I'm writing this now, a few weeks later, as I use Yelp to find a new stylist. I give Kelly Austin five stars as a stylist, one star as a shamefully poor communicator, and averaged the two to give her three stars. I'd rate Kaley with the same three stars, an average of three for communication and three for the quality of the haircut she gave my kids.
