I decided to try this salon out because of the great reviews but noticed there were no ethnic clients' photos, which made me a little skeptical but I decided to have faith in their skills. The location is convenient for me since I do my grocery shopping and my nails within 0.5 miles from the salon. The interior is immaculate and modern; staff were friendly and genuinely concerning; prices are even better. Albeit, I was one of the first black clients in this particular shop, they exceeded my expectations and did a better job than my regular hair stylist (no shade). They were very attentive to my hair type and needs, giving honest feedback and suggestions. I can proudly say, ANYONE with hair that is told is "hard to manage", this salon does not shy away from a challenge, and will style your hair with love and precision. I will definitely be returning.

Different technicians have serviced me, but mostly it's Linda who helps me. Of course there is a language barrier, but that doesn't stop the professionalism and care from shining through. This is a multi- faceted salon: hair, nails, eyebrows, lashes and I'm hoping they start doing facials. While I don't go there to get my hair styled or cut, I do see the ladies who walk out with a prideful swag, swinging their hair back and forth. Since I come regularly, Linda and staff know exactly why I'm there. No fuss. No muss. The price for a regular mani- pedi, for me, is $31-$35, maybe a little higher on the weekends. Of course, I tip. My hair has never felt and looked this alive beautiful and healthy. I needed a color correction so badly and she truly was so knowledgeable and knew how to fix it in less than two hours!! I have very…read morethick long hair and it takes a very long time to blow dry, if you are not used to doing long African American hair on a daily basis. This is my fifth time at this salon because the salon I normally go to closed early today. However, I called JCity and asked if they would take me, and they gave me a late appointment which was fine with me. The lady who does my hair at JCity is always cordial, patient and kind. I am picky and she never shows an ounce of anger (but I am polite to her as well. I know people can get impatient with attitude, but kindness reaps kindness). I even ask if I can show her what I mean with the blow dryer or curling iron so she knows what I want and she does not get upset with me. I believe the more I go she will get used to doing my hair. I also recommended a thick wide tooth comb to comb out the hair after washing to make it easier. She found one and realized how much easier it was with my hair. With her patience and professionalism she always does a great job. The owner, Alex and the girl that work with him always joke that it takes over an hour to do my hair. They don't realize I spend a shorter time at their salon than I do at salons that do thicker, curlier hair. Other salons are usually multitasking with more than one client between, wash, sets, blow drying, styling, relaxers, coloring, etc. and we may spend 3 to 5 hours in the salon, not an hour (that is for people with straight hair, that is not so long, thick or curly). These salons are able to push out 3-4 clients at one time. I believe if he saw how African American or Dominican hair salons function he may be amazed. All in all, the young lady does a great job on my hair. I just love their patience and kindness. Alex likes to make jokes. He is very nice. The times that I went to JCity, I have not asked them to cut my hair because I am picky, so I will only let my regular salon cut my hair. But if you want a nice wash, blow dry, flat iron and bump under curl (or bump up), the young lady does a nice job. Be patient with her because her goal is to take care of your hair and do a good job. She works very hard to accommodate what you want. This is why I like her. It makes a difference when you have a kind hair dresser. So, if you need a quick wash, blow dry and curl under (or curl up), I do recommend JCity salon.

Mind you now there's 2 people working, 3 if you count the daughter who washes and blow dries hair. So there's always a wait but I mean it's up to you if that's ok.
