I made an appointment with Michael and he completely rejuvenated my look (of course, this was after playfully scolding my lack of hair care!). Not only is Michael an incredible stylist, he is friendly and fun to spend a few hours with (without being intrusive). His attention to detail and keen eye make it really easy to trust him with your hair, he knows what will look good on people and what won't, and he isn't scared to disagree or tell the truth. Every time I go to see Michael I walk out feeling like a million bucks, and they are really reasonably priced which is a bonus. Highly recommend both the salon, and Mike himself!

Recently arrived in the North End of Halifax, I walked into Helen's Hairstyling near my home and…read moremade an appointment. I ended up with Georgia, and it was a lucky day for me and my hair! I had gone from dark brunette back to blonde 6 months earlier, and still had a little bit of brassy orange in my hair. Georgia blasted me back to a wonderful honey-blonde and layered my grown-out, messy hair into a stylish, face-framing cut. I look ten years younger, and this hairstyle is so much easier to keep tidy. Not only is Georgia a master of what she does, but she's also incredibly sweet, funny and highly sensitive to her clients' needs. I was an esthetician for many years, and I'm very particular and tough to please. Georgia got my new cut and colour spot on, and I had a fun-filled few hours in her chair and some good laughs. Her prices are very reasonable and fair when you compare her high skill set to nearby salons that charge much more. I can confidently say I've found one of the best hairdressers in Halifax, and I won't be having anyone other than Georgia do my hair services from now on. Thank you, Georgia :-D

Not to mention the cut itself which I'm so so happy with. Krista took away from the photo inspiration I brought along with me exactly what it was that I liked about the cut, and then went on to figure out how to translate that to what was doable with my thick, damaged hair. I'm a quiet, kind of niched conversation person and I really enjoyed myself. I got a super accurate book recommendation ("Ready Player One": dystopian future, video games, sci-fi.. check check check) and I'm relieved to have found someone within walking distance of home. Anyways, I'm so pleased and just wanted to say so.

Hoping I'd have a similar experience here I booked an appointment. It seems difficult to get an appointment here on the weekends, so I was super excited when she told me there were spots open. I came in at 7 on a Saturday and gave the girl doing my hair a very simple instruction: I want curls but curls tend to fall out really easily with my hair. This is what I tell most of the stylists who do my hair and it seems to work well. She decided to do round brush curls initially. Which didn't work very well and was kind of painful as she had to de-tangle my hair multiple times, and there wasn't much curl in the end. She then asked if I wanted more curls in it. I said yes and she put some curling wand curls in it. It looked ok. It was $50 with a tip. Ouch... My hair fell out 10 minutes later and I ended up curling it myself and doing a much better job.
