Was on travel to Newport and they got me right in! Good vibes and a good cut!!! Location is also in a good spot, walking distance to a lot of eateries. read more

Hair Apparent is a veteran-owned Barber shop with high efficiency and quality. Both barbers were constantly busy over the entire day but were able to squeeze in my husband and son. Their work was awesome and they did an excellent job trimming and styling their hair. Great job! read more

Hubby has been coming here for awhile now, and has really enjoyed his cuts. Although the wait can be substantial depending on the day and time he arrives, he has always been able to leave with a fresh 'do. The barbers who work here are very good at what they do. I've seen a wide variety of hair cuts come out of their chairs, everything from a military cut to something very finessed with high end style and precision. Hubby likes something of a modified military cut, while also keeping as much length as possible. They do a great job of accommodating his specific request. Prices are good, seating is limited, and wait can be long. Biggest downside is parking and accessibility, with being on a one way street with very limited options. Also we have gone during their stated business hours and found them to be closed a few times, which also was pretty frustrating, but never the less, we keep returning for their great cuts. read more

Always reliable, Tony and D are ready to hit you with the best they've got. Put your name on the list, go for a walk and come back for a chop. Old style barber just the way it should be. Thanks for being great. I hope you both live long enough to hit your age in golf read more

The worst for being available or on time to open And rude to new customers Leave cell number and they will let you know when your turn. No waiting inside. Need to walk the streets read more

Jamie is a really excellent barber and good dude! Takes his time and cares about his work.

The woman working reception seemed to be intoxicated; heavily slurring her words and took her roughly a minute to notice people in front of her. She wasn't able to form any comprehensible sentences and was unsure of their hours and how their system worked. Otherwise the salon is clean and well situated. read more

The only reason I would give this place a five star rating is because they don't have a button for 10 star rating. What an enjoyable way to get your haircut. I walked in and sat down. Dave said it would take 10 minutes. His friend came in to sit a spell. We talked basketball for 15 minutes while I got my haircut. This young man is nice, good manners and an excellent barber. I mean who's got it better! read more

My boyfriend and I stumbled into this barber shop while having a stroll around town. We came in right before close, yet the owner/barber did a thorough cut that my boyfriend was satisfied with. So great he didn't do a rush job! Also, he gave a proper neck shave with an old school razor and cream. The barber was friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions since my boyfriend and I are from out of town. My only slight complaint is that the place smelled a bit like cigarette smoke. read more

What a cool place to get a cut. There were a few people ahead of me but I was in the chair in about 10 mins and had a great convo with Dave while he gave me the exact cut I was looking for. The beer line was down during my visit so I hope there are a few people ahead of me next time so I can grab a cold one! read more

Best men's barbershop on the island, probably the state. Very fair prices (more than fair) and Jamie is a top notch barber, and he is a barber in the true sense of the word. This is not a haircut factory. If you want a proper man's cut, this is your place. read more

My son doesn't like to get his hair cut. So I tried to find a reputable place that he'd feel comfortable with. We decided to try here based on the reviews. We decided to go this evening once I got home. We arrived about 35 mins before they were supposed to close, when we got to the door, we were told by the barber " he'd been standing since 10:00 and he was doing his last cut". The hours posted, closes at 6pm. Well, they have lost my business. I'm always looking for local businesses to support and I guess if the tone had been better and I didn't feel as if I was being dismissed, I'd try again but, i won't. read more

Amazing. They take walk-ins and did my hair perfectly and other then the super cool chairs it is a great place to go!!

Best and only barbershop I'll ever go to in New England. Dave and Jamie are not only great guys, but incredible barbers too. The attention to detail they spend with each customer and the relationships they build speak volumes. You can tell they're invested in anyone who sits in their chairs. I might be a little spoiled, I'll never find a barbershop like this again. Every time I leave, I'm telling myself "This might be my favorite cut ever." Highly recommend it to anyone in the area. read more

Jamie is a great barber. Showed up to Newport looking for a haircut and Jamie was right around the corner from where I was staying. Walked in sat down and he did an awesome job in about 20 mins. He does a high quality cut, one of the best haircuts I've gotten in a long time. Whatever you need trim, fade, and everything in between he's got you covered. Price is $13 but I just gave him a $20, cause it was much deserved. read more

Great haircut. Nice people. Walked in on easter weekend with beautiful weather and got a fresh cut. Thanks.

Went in 3 days ago from stopping in from work on a yacht. I called prior to coming because I read a review that said they don't work published hours. When I called on Tuesday they said they were open until 1. I went. 5 minute walk. My criticism is the lack of attention to what I asked for and detail of my haircut. I said I like my hair as is but needs a half inch to three quarters of an inch off everywhere. Well, the barber cut as he desired or didn't listen at all to my instruction He cut 2 inches plus all over and cut all my curls. I tipped and walked out like a gentleman but I was pissed. I hope you read this barber because you know this is true when I state that you said your sons' friend broke both his wrists falling or jumping out of a tree- you said this while giving me an undesirable haircut. Listen up dude. read more

I recently moved into town and was a little apprehensive about searching for a barber out here. I had a solid place in LA which knew exactly how to cut my hair and I wasn't sure Newport had much beyond salons -- not a knock on salons but more often than you get a sub-par fade. Then I found Hair Apparent on Yelp. Jamie didn't disappoint, he hooked up a really good low fade that was exactly what I was looking for. The cut wasn't rushed and the $15 price tag was more than reasonable. The only downside is he doesn't take reservations due to the constant stream of customers, so be prepared to wait an hour + if the shop is full; that being said, the cut is well worth the wait. I'll definitely be back. read more

Dave cut my hair today, he's a great guy with immense knowledge and incredible care for his customers! Get your hair cut here!

Hair Apparent is great local barber shop. Conveniently located in downtown newport, the shop is a welcoming place for anyone looking to get a great haircut. Jamie is an actual "Barber", not a factory shop that give a quick buzz and sends you on your way. He pays attention when asking what you're looking for and uses a straight razor and warm foam to clean up you neck for a clean finish. read more

Great barbershop with some cool dudes....if you can ever find it open. Never follows their posted hours in the window.

Jamie is the man! Takes his time and doesn't rush through your cut. Must go here if you want a professional job... Or fall back to Supercuts and see how poor of a job they do there. read more

Always a great job. Nice old school feel barber shop. Visited several times now and have always left pleased. Quick service.

Great cut in a friendly, low-key atmosphere. Jamie puts the customer first and listens to exactly what you want. Would strongly recommend.

Single chair barbershop in a small but cozy space. Jamie is a master barber and although the wait can be long to get in the chair (like over an hour), you will walk out of there feeling like a million $. Make sure to call ahead and confirm the shop is open, hours can fluctuate. Will be back. read more
