This pub was nothing short of awesome, but that had a lot to do with the atmosphere. Like, it had some awesome beers on tap, the service was wonderful, and not only that but there was a huge beer garden out the back as well. Honestly, I have to say that I really did love this place.

It's hard to pin down the ambiance as the areas of the Hotel differ; all in a good way. The "BAAA" is a great example of rural Australian bars: happy and inviting with live bands often playing. Meanwhile, it's eclectic and relaxed in the penny bar area, and the beer garden has a family friendly vibe. The standout for me on this visit was the dining area. It's relaxed but more restaurant than pub-like; in a good way. The service was very good, the staff friendly and prompt. But the best thing was the food. As long as you are happy to go beyond today's typical Australia pub food, and instead try some gourmet style traditional pub food. I had the slow cooked lamb shoulder with vegetables and light jus, while my partner went for the Mediterranean Chicken salad. Both were excellent, but the lamb was next level. Despite being well satisfied we could not resist the sticky date pudding. And we weee both happy we did not. Great experience all-round. The prices are higher than pub meals, but for that you get gourmet food that you will remember for a long time. Worth the little extra for sure.

This place certainly gets pretty packed, but then again I probably shouldn't be all that surprised…read moreconsidering that it does happen to be one of the main pubs in Hahndorf, and one that certainly focuses on German Food. Not surprisingly, they also have German beer available, though I should point out that the German Beer is only from a single brewery, and also seems to be much more crafty than the ones at the other pubs. Still, this is a pretty cool pub with a great atmosphere, and the staff are really nice as well.

Came to the hahndorf inn originally for their cellar door, which had a tasting of ~7 local wines…read morefrom the Adelaide hills region. We didn't have a car and didn't want to Uber separately to various cellar doors/vineyards so stopping here was a nice alternative. We got to try a bunch of local wines and also learn about the region. The tasting was only 5 Australian dollars per person...can't beat that!! Later in the day, also walked into the hahndorf inn pub part for a drink and quick bite before catching the metro bus back to the city. Split a beer tasting flight with my husband and the pretzel/2 dips appetizer. Delicious pretzel with a red pepper dip and then some type of rocket/bean dip. The flight showcased 4 classic German beers. They were mostly light, crisp, and refreshing with the exception of a darker ale. Nice spot to grab a beer and bite to eat if you like German pub fare.

I would complain about the limited beer selection at this pub, but honestly, it is a country pub so…read moreyou should really expect that. Well, not quite country, but it is located in a town that is generally not frequented by the tourists, even though it is still technically suburban Adelaide. However, the thing I liked about this pub was the service - it was amazing. Yeah, it really made me feel welcome. Oh, and they had an outdoor area set up out the front, and it was in a tent as well, which was pretty cool.

Visited this place over the weekend for my mums birthday lunch. Lovely atmosphere, wonderful staff…read morewho were extremely friendly and helpful and the food seemed to be good. The only complaint I have is a constant one, I understand its a pub lunch and its great, the food was amazing for everyone but myself as I am a vegetarian. Whilst some meals could be made vegetarian such as the ceaser salad (take out the bacon, anchovies and you get a generic salad - not exciting), there was not a singular item on the mains menu that was strictly vego. So i ordered the trio of dips and some chips. I noticed there was Haloumi on the menu so asked the waitress if I could also have a side of that. However, when it was brought out....the Haloumi was not cooked It had been cubed and was raw. I regret not speaking up but I had already had to negotiate and so I just went with it. It wasn't very nice. The servings were great and I felt full but all I had was carbs so it wasn't really a happy full belly. My suggestion is to pop something on the menu to suit vegos and vegans. Something other than a risotto, lasagna or vege stack. We're people too. Sometimes its not by choice but for health reasons. Include us please! And stock up on soy milk guys, its not hard! And Haloumi should always be served cooked. Always. That's the point. Its fried cheese.

A comfortable motel to stay if you're planning to explore the Adelaide Hills or just stay the night…read moreand wake up to the delights, sights and sounds of Hahndorf. We stopped here onced to pick up a light lunch of salad and sandwiches. The food was relatively moderate and enough to keep you full till your next meal. Then again, there are plenty of eateries and bakeries along Main Street to fill you up, should you go hungry again. Apart from the food and accomodation service, the building is a photography favourite as it has a huge horse head wall sculpture with an iron metal bell next to it.

I really like the set up inside, there is an upper and lower dining level which creates a really nice atmosphere. Last time I went to the stables I had the vegetarian risotto which was fantastic, big serving too so I couldn't get through all of it. I also had two latte's which were also above expectation their star barista must have been on shift that day. I didn't even realise that this cafe was part of an accommodation service, there certainly don't advertise that part of the business in the cafe, so I can't really comment on the cleanliness of the bedsheets,; but if I ever get hold of an ultra violet light I'll keep you guys informed. There is an outside seating area available as well and the great thing is that there is a window set up where you can get bar service from outside too, this is great for the lazy in you.
