A lot, I'll explain. I NEVER walk into a hair salon expecting miracles. I am a ballerina but I am horrible at styling and cutting my own hair, when such styling and maintenance is needed. Jona, the stylist and owner I believe, worked near- miracles on my hair. I left a lot to her discretion (as another reviewer wrote, I am not very decisive on my hair), and she did not disappoint. She explained what she was doing and demonstrated knowledge of her art; friendly and kind while focusing on her work. Ok- the hydrogen, helium and neon? They are all what are called 'noble gases' on the periodic table; like people, have pros and cons on their 'traits.' But my hair AFTER Jona dealt her magic and these noble gases: hydrogen is the lightest of the gases, and my hair felt fresh and light, not weighed down and dull; helium-- don't inhale it!-- but it is used in balloons; my hair had this floatability to it. Neon-- my hair felt effervescent and 'shiny,' but NOT in an artificial way. I felt wonderful. Those aficionados of 1980s music may remember 'Don't Get Me Wrong,' the Pretenders, 1986. . . 'I see neon lights/ whenever you walk by.' While in that case the neon lights are referring to another person-- I felt like a movie star . . .at least as long as Jona's haircut and style Lasted. :) Never mind that my own lack of skills with tresses meant that I could not maintain the look forever-- Jona did a great job. The salon is well-kept and organized; bright and well-lit but not gaudy. In very good taste. She is wonderful. Prices reasonable; certainly no more than elsewhere. She pointed to a honey blonde color and the lady told us that she can only dye our hair a dark color because our hair was long and it won't cover my cousin's "gray hair". I told her our Groupon stated Coloring/Highlighting. She explained she won't honor it because they will only dye it dark and we had long hair. It didn't state anything like that on our Groupon! The end result was TERRIBLE. My cousin's hair was tri-colored (honey blonde on top and red all over with black spots) My hair, was fine. Although, you can't even tell I got my hair dyed as it was just a brown color and 4 strands of highlighted hair. Bad service. Won't honor Groupon. Not worth saving the $30. Go somewhere else.

You can even specify a hairstylist should you have a preference. Someone from the salon called to check in and ensure I had the best experience by asking a few basic questions about what I wanted for a cut. I was really impressed by the thoroughness in follow-up. When I got to the salon, check in was quick, the front desk kindly asked to hang up my coat, and there was no wait time (despite arriving slightly early for my appointment). You could also request a refreshment, and they have one of the most extensive coffee menus I've ever seen! The wash, cut, and styling were all done seamlessly, with my stylist periodically asking clarifying questions along the way. I paid at the door, and inquired when I should be back. Another staff member knowledgeably mentions about 6-8 weeks to maintain the shape of the cut. Everyone was so warm and kind. Not to mention, there's great parking in the front and in the alley. I spent 3 hours here just for a pedicure and manicure. I never judge a book by its cover I decided to give this place an opportunity despite the fact that they only had a small selection of dip powder. I understand completely the shop recently opened up. But do not display products if you do NOT have it at your location: That is false advertisement. I fell victim to the owner who was very polite however had no idea what she was doing with my nails she should just specialize in hair care instead of nails. Firstly; usually when I get a pedicure it consists of a massage,& a foot callus remover. She scrubbed my feet for less than 30 seconds, I still have callus on my feet. Second: The manicure was the most dreadful. I asked for a dip manicure coffin shape, and had picked out a green which I realized after didn't look like the display, so we switched over to white. She gave me egg shaped lemon soup nails and was extremely rough to my skin to the point my cuticles themselves were breaking off( I wish she put that energy into the callus off my feet) she even pointed it out that my skin was breaking from her roughness!!! When I asked her to just do 2 layers of dip powder because I didn't want them to appear thick she kept insisting to put on 3, and blamed the layer of powder as a result in why she couldn't shape my nails to coffin but rather an egg. It felt more like a surgical procedure than a relaxing spa. I hope this business thrives and the owner gets more clientele so she can gain more experience in nails.
