This place is good for bar food but nothing special…read more We got here about 1 on a Sunday, not very busy, but the hostess walked away as we walked up and it took a few minutes for someone to seat us. When we were seated, we were offered 3 different table choices instead of being brought to a table. A general area was indicated and since neither of us had been here before, it was a bit chaotic. Had to wait a few beats for a server, but she was friendly when she arrived. We started with the potato skins which were all topped inconsistently - some had more cheese, some more bacon, and some skimpy all around. My friend got the burger and she said it was delicious. I got the steak grilled cheese which was salty and the meat wasn't easy to consume. I was under the assumption this would be more of a grilled cheese, but it was really bread with melted cheese and steak stuck in between. We both got fries and we did enjoy those. The decor is of Wilkes over the years which was pretty cool. I did notice the sign above our table had Wilkes misspelled - I don't know if that was a typo of the town had a different name previously. I'm unsure if I'd choose to come back here again. If so, I'll probably try a burger.

It was probably mid 80s in there.. Service was not great. They acted like we were an inconvenience to the three of them. They were at the bar talking. They came when they had to, but didn't seem too thrilled about it. The food was average. My burger was OK. The shrimp taco had two shrimp in it. It was OK. Definitely won't be back and it's unfortunate cause it had the possibility of being an interesting theme and kind of a nice look, but it really wasn't. It was pretty sparsely decorated kind of garage sale. Like. won't be back. Good luck to him.

The price was a bit much for such a small sandwich, and the sweet potato fries were a "premium" side and cost extra. I love meat alternatives, and they did a good job with the flavor and texture of this sandwich. Service was fine, we went for a very early dinner. We might return at some point since the Wilkesboros don't have a lots of options for vegetarian entrees.

So maybe we just had higher expectations than we should have, but we were disappointed…read more We came in and only 1 other table was occupied so we were happy to be sat and served quickly. The server would hardly speak to me and even my husband commented that he didn't know what her issue was with me specifically. They were out of their daily special of chicken dumplings because the other table apparently ordered the last bowl so we had to pivot, which wa fine. We ordered a mozzarella stick appetizer, a bacon cheeseburger and fries, a chicken club and fries, and a regular hotdog "all the way" with fries. We also all 3 had tea. My son and I got 1 scoop of ice cream each at the end. The girl who scooped the ice cream was way over to us than our server was. The sandwiches seemed to be pretty good, the fries were good, my hot dog was the worst hotdog I've ever had. There was so much mayo (which I don't think usually comes on a hotdog all the way but each place is different) that all I could taste was the mayo and bread. The bread was hard on one side, the hot dog was tiny and over cooked to where it was tough. Our total was right at $70. We would have went to Applebees or Olive Garden if we had anticipated spending $70 on a lackluster dinner that I didn't even eat but half of and the server never even asked if everything was okay. All in all everything would have been fine if the hot dog hadn't been inedible and if the price wasn't that of a chain sit down restaurant

I absolutely loved this place! I visited during the Brushy…read moreMountain Apple Festival and was looking for a coffee pick-me-up. This is more than a coffee shop its a huge space that used to be a general store of sorts in a former life. They have all kinds of fresh made coffee, tea, refreshers and more. I had a cappuccino which was quite strong so I added some extra creamer in it. Perfection! It also has a food menu if you are looking for more of a bistro experience. The menu peaked my interest. We sat in a huge area that was decorative and comfy. There were paintings, books and lots of odds and ends to look at and or buy. This is a place where everyone is friendly and very helpful and even though they are busy they take the time to talk to you about the building and tidbits about living in the area as well as answering your questions with no hint of rushing. I would return anytime and wish this place was near my area as this would be my 2nd home!

Yuminess: 8/10 Allergy Safety: 6/10…read morePrice: 4/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 Service: 4/10 Overall: Food was solid, but not a lot of allergy-friendly options (dairy or gluten). Price was definitely high for the portion size, and service was... interesting. Not the friendliest or most helpful. However, the atmosphere is 10/10; it's cozy with plenty of local products available. Likely wouldn't return on my own. In-depth: First, the atmosphere is the best part of this place. It's a large, cozy space with artwork everywhere, games (like chess) to play, and local products to buy. Perfect for reading, working on a computer, or a family day out. Food was also pretty solid. I got the spinach quiche and cloud 9 latte, both of which were delicious, though the latte was a bit too sweet and they did forget to add the whip cream. However, the price is definitely high for what you get. The latte was around $7, and the quiche was $10, even though it was pretty small. I also didn't see many gluten- or dairy-friendly food options, though they did have milk alternatives for the drinks. Now, my biggest gripe: the service. I went last week, and the manager was operating the register. He didn't seem very happy, but hey, not everyone is all smiles at work -- it is work after all. However, he was nice enough when I asked what quiches they had. This is not where my complaint comes from, though. I visited with my friend, and as she was walking back with her spinach pie, she sadly dropped it right on the floor. This is definitely her fault, yes. But how it was handled left a bad taste in my mouth. She cleaned up the mess herself and went to tell the workers. The lady pointed to the manager and told her he would handle it in an offhand manner (although she was nicer later, so maybe she was just busy). When we went to the manager, she told him what happened and asked if she would need to buy a new one. He rolled his eyes, sarcastically said, "Oh no!" then deadpanned, "Yes, you will need to buy a new one," and that was that. While many other restaurants may offer to pay or offer a discount, we 100% understood it was her mistake, not theirs. So, it is fair that she had to repay. What wasn't great was the unnecessary rude attitude. Overall, I might come back if someone wanted to meet here, but I would definitely hope no issues come up that would require me to deal with the service. Beyond that, I wouldn't come back myself.
