I popped into visit this organic farm while I was out for a run one day in the area and wanted to…read morecheck it out. I spoke to someone working out the front who directed me to the manager who was more than happy to talk to me about the farm and what they grow there. You can buy vegetables on-site or they also sell their produce at a farmers' market. He was preparing for a meeting at the time but offered to show me around the farm if I was able to come another time. As well as a range of organic vegetables they also have free range eggs and lamb. I have also since found out that Hamlin Farm provides work opportunities for people who have experienced mental illness and assisting their transition into the workforce. Awesome.

I had so much fun on this Trek and the scenery is unbelievable! Nicole was a great guide and told…read moreme all about the family farm while we were riding. I really enjoyed getting to see the farm animals up close and Nicole's pup Luke was a fun addition to the Trek. We took a quick break by the stream and her homemade German bread was a nice touch! My horse Sally was beautiful, and a bit of a troublemaker searching for food, but she was also safe and easy to ride! I would definitely recommend this horse trek as it is the perfect way to enjoy the NZ scenery!
If you are looking for something different for your kids next birthday party then I definitely…read morerecommend Clevedon Animal Farm. Its out in the middle of nowhere and you might go past the entrance once even twice but once you get there the little kiddies and all the family will love this place. You and your kids will get to touch and feed the farm animals and there are a good mixture of the friendly cute animals. The highlight of the farm are the Pony's and pony rides at the end, the kids just love it. And for the birthday lunch you can set this up under a lovely picnic area with plants overhead that have beautiful pink flowers during the summer time - makes for some gorgeous photos. This will be an unforgettable day out whether you come here for a birthday party or kids day out. Note: There are no set opening/closing hours you will need to contact them to arrange your party/day out.

Walk around the farm (which is huge) and see all types of farm animals; goats, pigs, a donkey, cows, chickens, etc etc. There's a rabbit house where you can go in and hold the bunnies, and sometimes they have bunnies to purchase. The donkey was definitely the highlight for us. You can go horse riding, which is included in the entry price, and go on a tractor ride around the farm. The staff are all friendly farm hands. There's a hay maze too which is fun. You can get feed too to feed the animals, which is especially fun for the young kids. It's open every day in the holidays.

I think we sometimes forget what it's like to be ultra chatty & knock-out friendly in the cityscape? I was fortunate enough to attend their annual fireworks display and night market 'Blast From The Past'. Apparently 15,000 people attend this event - however the rain & wind kept some people away this year. Waiuku is rather remote, BUT the picturesque scenery and great vintage shops are worth the trip alone!
