I had never visited Waiuku until last week! It's beautifully rural; with lots of dinky shops, livestock and poultry farms and a family-orientated community. I think we sometimes forget what it's like to be ultra chatty & knock-out friendly in the cityscape? I was fortunate enough to attend their annual fireworks display and night market 'Blast From The Past'. Apparently 15,000 people attend this event - however the rain & wind kept some people away this year. Waiuku is rather remote, BUT the picturesque scenery and great vintage shops are worth the trip alone! read more
