I have been a customer & volunteer for Habitat for Humanity for over 15 years. I have swung a hammer building houses in Redmond WA for Habitat. I go into the Hilo Store almost daily as I just bought a house about 1/2 block away. Today my boyfriend & I bought a Rybko battery charged lawnmower. The sticker price was $190.00 with 25% discount special sale. It was explained to us by the cashier (whom is nice - I have spoken to several times since I am a regular) the discount is because there is no battery or charger. My boyfriend asked if other Rybko tool batteries & chargers were compatible with this lawnmower? She said "oh yes, absolutely you can interchange Rybko power saw chargers & Rybko batteries to use in this mower". I paid $151.45 via debit card. 2 min later we got home & tried to put the battery in the mower. NOPE. Tried to charge the mower using Rybko charger....NOPE. I looked online and a brand new Rybko Electric Lawn Mower is priced $225.00 at Home Depot including battery & charger. The battery & charger at Home Depot is $150.00. That would make this mower we bought at Habitat well over $300! We loaded the machine, literally 5 min we drove back to Habitat Restore & told them of the situation. he supervisor Brandalin Miyasoto came out, didn't say a word to acknowledge us, put in a battery & started the mower. I explained that wasn't the issue, that we were given false information just five minutes ago furthermore to purchase the battery & charger would make the mower $100 more than we could buy at Home Depot inclusive BRAND NEW. Amazon will NOT ship batteries. She looked at us so rudely, cold as ice, didn't give a crap that I am a Senior on limited income & said, "Our Policy is we do NOT accept ANY returns". We JUST BOUGHT THIS 5 min ago, didn't even remove the cellophane wrapping - we didn't go out & mow the lawn & we were LIED TO! She didn't care, she didn't smile, she didn't say thank you for being a good patron (I've donated many items to this store). NOPE. Rude as rude can be. My boyfriend asked for the supervisor and she said "I AM THE SUPERVISOR". Then I pressed and found out Patrick Henry in the Kona Habitat for Humanity Store is actually the district supervisor. I have left a message for him. Habitat for Humanity lost a very good patron and volunteer and customer today. She clearly should not be in this line of business as she does not have any customer service skills or empathy. I will NOT be back to the Hilo Restore. read more
