Apparently the residents of Trier don't know what they're missing: the food was delicious, served almost immediately (obviously the kitchen wasn't busy), fresh, flavorful, and high-quality. The menu is extensive and varied, and contains some Thai and Indonesian items in addition to more typical expat-Chinese fare. We had nasi goreng, Singapore noodles, sweet-and-sour chicken ("Phoenix in red sunshine"), Buddha's feast, and chow mein. It was all served family-style in chafing dishes. The table was set with knives and forks but chopsticks are available upon request. The decor is nice and the restrooms are immaculate. The staff were attentive and were nice enough to attempt to use English for the first time in 3 decades in order to communicate with us more effectively. All in all, this place was a very pleasant surprise. Highly recommended!

This is my favourite place to eat and have a few beers in Trier. Pizzasalat is a must, cheap and…read moretasty. Free wifi for 30 minutes. Should be free for a bit longer. The gratinned potatoes are freaking yummy too.

The last place I visited before leaving Trier. Got a little hungry and had sometime before the…read moretrain arrive so I popped into this place. Wonderful little cafe near the train station. Very little space but the service and food will have you coming back. I walked in and some university students were having a debate. I take a seat in the corner and do a little ease dropping. It's nice to watch motivated youth organizing themselves in something positive. I scan over the small menu and decide I needed some warm soup on this very cold night. My company decides on an non-alcoholic drink. The thought of leaving kept me from my meal for much of the time. The place is so inviting with the dark wood, comfy environment, and nice music. There's also a patio area, but I avoided that because of all the noise and large amount of smokers. Plus it was cold and the Florida in me couldn't take it. We just sip our drinks and take in the place while I try not to think about leaving the area. But this is the type of place you'd want to come back too. So, genug gejammert. Die leckere Suppe - sweet potatoes! (Soup is awesome!) Nice and creamy. Seasoned by not spicy. And trinkt dazu unbedingt einen Chai Latte and be thankful for the strong wifi connection. Wifi seems to be a luxury when in the area. This place is suppose to have a great breakfast but I was never here before the sun went down. Bathrooms were covered in graffiti as I'm come to know in some of the more popular areas. Lots of posting about events in the area if you are looking for something to get into but Klasse Service!

The Cafe is right across from the train station! Perfect for people coming into the city!! The atmosphere is real chill. I don't know how, but they are always playing dope music! It takes me by surprise all the time, like how do they know these songs!! However, I can't complain. I normally just get regular coffee, 'cafe crema'. My girl gets the chai lattes and swear they are the best in Trier! (They are pretty good). This is a great cafe to chill and study and catch up with friends. I definitely recommend it!

I spent a few nights drinking here, and one night having a full meal and drinks. The food was…read morefantastic, and the drinks were well made. Their beers brewed on site were all very good and provided a nice relief to all the lagers everywhere. Prices were what I considered very affordable, like 4 euro a beer and about 10 euro a plate on average I believe. I had the Schnitzel Cordon Bleu" and as I said, it was out of this world. The decor is very impressive as well. Sort of a rustic modern vibe to the place. You can see into the brewing room which is always fun, and the layout is very open, with a second story walkway around the rim of the room where the offices were located I assume. Perhaps what I enjoyed most about Saarfurst Brauhaus was how kind and helpful everyone was with me and my horrible, horrible German. They were patient when I tried to actually speak German and happy to speak English when I gave up. Also, the bartender taught me the tipping customs in the area so I didn't continue to look like such an ignorant American. Two thumbs up!!
