The blackberries and Marionberries, my fave. They are big, plump, and bursting with flavor. Plus, they are so much easier to pick at a farm where the bushes are staked to a trellis vs. the wild ones I pick on the side of the road. Don't get me wrong, I do pick the wild ones, but I'm usually covered in juice and my hands and arms get all pricked. When I'm here, I pick a huge bucketful so I can make pies. The berries are so sweet I just add a little sugar and lemon juice and the pies are perfect. Also pick enough so I can enjoy some plain, by the handfuls. Their blueberries are sweet and delicious, too! I make space in my freezer so I can have them throughout the year. If you don't want to pick your own, no worries, they sell containers and flats in their cute country store along with other food and gift items. This family farm is so picturesque! It's a lovely setting and it's well run with friendly staff. If you are picking fruit, definitely go in the morning to avoid the sun beating down on your back. And wear a hat!

There were still plenty of berries there, and of course one cheats and tastes while one picks, right? I can officially verify that the berries on each bush were spectacular. :) Also, for this city-kid, the process of picking is just awesome...I had a hard time stopping and ended up accumulating 10 pounds! The people there were so helpful and friendly, and the price was right...$2/lb. For somebody who's used to purchasing pints of dubious quality berries for $5.99 per small (plastic) container, this was just great. Nutshell: Lots of berries. Good price. So effing tasty and good folks, too!!

The bushes are about 5 feet high so there is a little shade (well if you're on the shorter side like me) while you're picking. Plentiful and really easy to fill a bucket within an hour with 2-3 people picking leisurely. We never make it to the end of the bush rows before our bucket is mostly full. Just show up and everything is provided! They have these useful buckets you can put around your waist so that you can use both hands while picking. They also have a food cart with goodies to snack on when you get hungry. They take all kinds of payments, so just

This is a third generation farm - their grandparents immigrated from Japan in the early 1900s. It's almost 300 acres and they've got apples, pears, peaches, cherries, berries, and probably more. The farmstand is open July through November. They've got a pick your own/U-pick options. They specialize in growing over 150 different varieties of apples, pears, cherries, and stone fruit. Their website is pretty up-to-date on which fruit are available at any given time. I really enjoyed stopping into the marketplace for a wide selection of pre-picked fruits, some of which had samples available. They were priced by weight and I was very pleased with the cost in the end ($12 for so many apples!).

And this orchard is so fun to visit in mid-October during harvest time. They have wagon rides, a big fort for kids, an apple variety tasting, and dozens & dozens of apples and pear varieties for sale. We filled up a box of cosmic crisps to take home, plus loaded up on a bunch of jugs of honey for the year - 3 lbs for $24 is a great deal. I also walked through the orchard and loved that they labeled all the rows of trees so you can see all the many varieties. They had apple cider and apples with caramel sauce as samples while waiting in line. While I'm disappointed that the apple tasting still costs as much as last year, the experience is otherwise great and I'll be back.
