I have been going to Dr. Hermes since I was a little girl. Most of my entire family and extended family sees him. Aside from when I was away in the military, Dr. Hermes has been my Dentist and will continue to be my Dentist. What I love about this practice is they are extremely personable and they make it nice and enjoyable to be there, especially when going to see the Dentist isn't always the most enjoyable especially when you have a procedure to do. I enjoy that they like to hear about you and that they engage in conversation which shows they actually are listening to you. I trust Dr. Hermes very much with anything he has recommended for my dental work, I can honestly say that my teeth have been great since working with him and I have not had any issues at all. He provides a conservative approach to ensure your teeth do not progressively get worse. I have gotten fillings from him over 10 years ago and they are still good to go. I highly recommend giving them a try if you are looking for a Dentist, you won't be disappointed. He will be our Family Dentist for years to come. read more

There's a new sheriff in town... There's used to be just one Dr. Hermes but not there are two. This really solves the appointment availability. The father and son duo works because you can have more choices when scheduling for an appointment. I really don't recall my first visit but I have been coming to this place for a long time. I started seeing the older Dr. Hermes at 1st but I have seen the younger Dr. Hermes. I really don't have any preference as they are both good. They engage you when they can and give you a chance to chat/answer between cleaning or procedures. I would recommend giving this place a try if your insurance is accepted and now that there are two I am sure you will be accommodated or added to their patient registry. So what attracted me to stay? The friendly staff and the honesty. When a procedure is recommended it is actually a necessity and you will appreciate it in the long run by avoiding unnecessary expense and additional procedures. If you are a new patient they will make sure that you receive all the necessary care and recommendations are made as to make sure that your teeth are healthy. read more

My husband has been going to Dr. Hermes for a couple years and it just feels like they aren't very thorough. My husband has two cavities and now has a root canal that's gone bad. I can't exactly attribute everything to them but it just seems like they should have seen the issue with his root canal. We are going to a new doctor and with just one quick exam they see the root canal is causing an issue where his body is rejecting it. I did talk to the doctor in dr Hermes office and she explained they had an X-ray from 2021 and didn't see issues but I disagree I think this one is glaring cause the current dentist said he can stick his pic right into the bad tooth and get to the bone, so this seems like something that should be caught in an exam. Also they should probably do more up to date X-rays if you know you've got one from 2021, kind of weird to me but I'm not a doctor. In a previous incident they also referred us to a specialist who we were told was a family friend who was terrible and very unprofessional which I ignored that incident a few years ago but now it all makes sense. Maybe if you have really good teeth and just need cleanings you can go here but if you have issues like my husband maybe just be mindful and pay attention. I personally would never want to go to them. read more

I have found the front office friendly and helpful. Most of my family's experiences were good. Dr. Mark is pretty good with the kids. His father was a talented dentist who knew his stuff. But I personally had a particularly very bad experience one time. I was made to wait an hour past my scheduled time and then the work done was bad and very painful during and long after the visit. I decided not to go back. I also felt pressure to change fillings that I felt were fine, so I question their honesty somewhat, but since having other dentist, I would say they are more honest that most other dentists who are constantly trying to up-sell all kinds of crazy things from bite guards to whitening to tooth pulling to deep cleanings to laser treatments. Cleanings tore up my gums sometimes, but others by the hygienists were overly gentle and I left feeling it wasn't very good or thorough. My daughter developed a lot of cavities while in there care and hasn't had any since. Overall, they are ok and I might go back because I can't find a better dentist. read more

Had to get a night guard for teeth grinding and they were great about the whole process. Was fitted and the guard arrived in less than two weeks, tested and educated before leaving. Great practice, friendly staff, very knowledgeable and easy to make appointments. Highly recommend! read more

Hands down, the best! I have been a patient of Dr. Hermes since 1995. I now bring my kids to the other doctor, Dr. Mark. Both doctors are so nice, and do a great job. I have been happy with them. I get reminders every 6 months to go clean my teeth; which is great because I am busy and I would forget. I have met all the receptionists and they are friendly. I specially like Cindy as she is polite and follows up with me even when I ask her to call me back. I recommend this office to anyone looking for their forever dentist. They service is great and for what other dental specialist(orthodontists) have said, dr. Hermes has more advance dental degrees than others. Great service, humble personality! Doctor Hermes and his staff are truly amazing! 3 weeks ago I developed an EXCRUCIATING toothache and needed to see a dentist ASAP. After a sleepless night, I called my regular dentist first thing in the morning and was told that he is booked for the next 3 weeks (I explained that this is an emergency). I started calling around different dentists only to hear the same repetitive line "sorry, we're booked". Scrolling through yelp, I stumbled onto "H H Hermes, DDS". I read the rave reviews, crossed my fingers and called the office. I spoke with May who i must say is a sweetheart. Even though they were fully booked, May worked her magic, rearranged the schedule and managed to pencil me in for that SAME day. Incredible! after my arrival, I was greeted by May who is the sweetest receptionist I've ever encountered, filled out a simple questionnaire and was escorted to the dentist chair all in less than 20 minutes. Doctor H performed a root canal and I must say, he and his hygienist Noor are both fantastic and extremely talented. Doctor H and his staff are very honest and treat you as a friend rather than a $$$ sign. He even went out of his way to straighten my root canal tooth in preparation for the crown, something that was NOT required of him to perform but that's just the kind of guy he is. After my root canal, Doctor H advised me that there are a few critical issues regarding my teeth which need immediate attention. I explained to May and Doctor Hermes that I would like to take care of these issues however I will be leaving the country very soon and have an extremely hectic schedule regarding my move overseas. Once again, they both went ABOVE and BEYOND to rearrange their schedule and work around my schedule, even offering to come in on their day off! Doctor Hermes asked his hygienist Noor if she would like to come in on her day off just for me (1 patient) without hesitation, she responded "sure". TRULY AMAZING PEOPLE! read more

Unprofessional and unreliable services. Waiting could take you more than an hour and they are okay with it. If you need to call them for an urgent matter they will keep you on hold and sometimes the front desk workers would tell you " we will call you back" and they never call back. My family and I have been search for the right dentist for about 1 1/2 years now. Tried several in the El Cajon area. One day while picking up my son from piano lessons I saw H H Hermes and thought I should get a business card. That was the best thing I did that day. We first set up appointments for my wife and myself to see if this was a good place for our family. This is a father son business, I got the father and my wife got the son. We were both extremely impressed with the service and knowledge of these two gentlemen.
