We decided to come to this Walgreens to see what options they had for charging blocks. They did have several options for charging blocks but I ended up getting a power bank so I could charge my phone while walking around. The line was pretty long but this was to be expected near the Riverwalk and the night before Christmas eve. The line did go quickly. On Alamo Plaza -- the street that has a little landmark on the other side of it where some…read morelegendary battle took place -- you really have to stand out to make your way in the gift and t-shirt shops along the way. If I were to whittle it down to one souvenir shop on the PLZ, I would recommend Alamo Drugs. They have both what you would be looking for (a countless collection of souvenirs) along with a -- shocker -- actual drug store in the back. If you need anything for that which ails you (pain killers, cold relievers, stomach issues) or toiletries are in the back. Up front is the souvenir shop. From crucifixes to Davy Crockett coonskin caps to Texas-themed ornaments to Alamo beer to t-shirts and cowboy hats to toys .. let's just say there's a little something for everyone. Cool stuff and low prices. I'll definitely remember the Alamo. Alamo Drugs, that is!

Obviously there's no actual pharmacy here since it's on the river level with no access to street parking. It's not even your standard CVS. Sure, they have the basics like snacks, cosmetics, etc, but what tickled me were the ducky plushies in cowboy and beaver hats. There are also post cards and $20 phone chargers, one of which I needed since I accidentally left mine at the hotel. Would I come here to buy anything otherwise? Probably not, but it was certainly worth checking out. And the cashier was also very nice. She did ask if I have a phone number with CVS (I haven't for several years now. I wonder if they ever actually close those years old inactive accounts). She also allowed me to simply use the reusable bag from the Alamo we already had with us to save the trouble. Oh and an entire aisle dedicated to Texas and San Antonio. It was a fun time. Also, the shelves could probably stand to be wiped down more. Lots of dust. And what's this? No kitty cats to greet me? Now I'm sad. :( I'd come back just to see them, and they're good for keeping rodents away. So for the cat haters out there, bear in mind they're smarter than many give them credit for as they hunt mice and birds to keep the river walk free of infestations.

Instead, she just looked at me, I told her what I wanted, and that was it. If you're that tired or unhappy to be there, maybe call out. A little kindness and professionalism make a big difference.

Have you ever been in the middle of flossing when all of a sudden the last string of floss exits…read morethe dispenser and you're left with no floss? That was the horror I experienced during my work trip. "Why didn't I bring backup floss!?!?!?!?!?" Kidding, who brings backup floss, maybe you do, if so, kudos to you. Enter the RiverCenter Drug Store inside the RiverCenter mall. I refused to pay $4.99 for a single pack of my favorite floss from the hotel store, so I headed to the mall to find a lower price and found it at this store for $2.67. Still overpriced than the usual $0.99 I find at Target but cheaper than $4.99 so I was happy. And, no spend limit to use a credit card like the small kiosk inside the mall who said I had to spend at least $4 to pay for my floss with them. The drug store is large with lots of stuff so if you don't feel like walking to the Walgreens or CVS this is a great option. And yes, I just wrote about buying floss for my first 2018 review! :) What a way to start the year!
