This review is for the store near downtown Dripping Springs. Like many others, I don't understand why this store is so much smaller than the others, but they do a great job with the space they have. Being the only grocery store in Dripping, it's always full of people, but the employees are always working hard to keep the shelves stocked. Understandably, this isn't always possible, especially around holidays or if a storm is on the way. The employees are friendly and helpful, and there's almost always a manager near the registers trying to keep things moving when it gets really busy. One issue I've had is the apples must get thrown around a lot because I often get bruised ones. It's too much hassle to drive there and return them, but I do wish they'd train employees, including the cashiers and baggers to handle them more gently. I spent 15 minutes going through piles of apples to find a bag with undamaged ones, only to have the cashier slam them down after she scanned them. I also don't understand why they're continually out of Daisy low-fat cottage cheese in the large tub. We use this in smoothies, and there's a space for it, but I rarely find it in stock. However, I also understand how limited space is in this store. I've driven to the Nutty Brown store a number of times, only to find they don't do nearly as good a job of keeping their shelves stocked as this smaller store does. The frozen fruit is almost always nearly bare, along with some other staples. It also takes a lot longer to checkout, even though they have more registers. I've stopped going to this store. It's not worth the drive. Overall, H-E-B is the best grocery store! I was so happy to find we had one here in Dripping Springs when I moved here. I think this little store in particular does an outstanding job with the resources they have. Hopefully, the store will be expanded someday soon. read more

HEB is the bomb... all you other grocery stores need to take notice! Lots of selection, a huge produce section, fresh flowers, great service, wine and beer selections to beat the band, and just a plethora of items. Usually... This was our first trip back to a HEB since leaving Texas about 8 months ago. I was shocked at the bare spots in the shelves. Whole sections wiped out... was there a pandemic I didn't know about? I'm telling you it was crazy the stuff that was just sold out... pop tarts! Some sodas, and various chips just to name a few things. It was like the Super Bowl was happening or something. I got most of what I needed though and the service was still stellar! HEB is that daddy of all grocery stores for sure! read more

I purchased a bag of HEB's "organic" apples the weekend of Thanksgiving 2024, and the stench was AWFUL. It smelled like they had been thrown into a trash bin, then retrieved and put back on the shelf for sale. Last week, 2/12/2025, unable to get fruit at farmers market, and assuming that the prior incident was a fluke, I bought 3 more bags of HEB "organic" apples. When I got them home, it was the same, but worse. The stench actually permeated my perfectly sealed refrigerator and has filled my entire house with the most nauseating stench. I called HEB corporate, and of course got a ridiculous run around including the "supervisor" not knowing the origin of their produce. HELLO? You don't even know where your produce come from? Let's get this straight - You work in the corporate office of HEB, AND you don't even know where their produce comes from? Hmmm...That's convenient when faced with the need for transparency. Newsflash to all the unassuming consumers out there who think they can actually believe a multi-billion dollar food corporation and their equally expensive advertising - their produce comes from China from China's "organic" farms. That stench? No doubt the decrepit, parasite-ridden bottom of the more than likely NEVER WASHED ocean liner it arrives to this country on. But go ahead HEB. Prove me wrong. Why don't YOU tell your consumers where your produce is actually from, and why it smells of death? And consumers, if you're wondering how "organic" produce can look so good if it has to travel so far it's because it's grown with plenty of govt approved synthetics, is gas ripened for the journey and often times, gassed enroute to assure that it looks good when it gets here. I live about 1.5 miles east of the Dripping Springs store (290) I purposely drive 6 miles to the Nutty Brown store because I hate going to the Dripp store. It is the most congested store I have ever been in. Produce section is a disaster. The isles are always filled with pallets, personal shoppers etc. I am happy to find out today that this store will be demolished soon and replaced with a 125 sq foot store next door read more

Parking lot needs to be repaved, refrigeration does not work, going on 5 years, low or no supplies, but plenty of excuses to give, poorly run store, time for management to retire and let someone with the right energy and hard work make changes, this store is the worst HEB in Texas. read more

This is really a sad store. I think HEB company usually does a decent job to decide what size and type of store plan fits your community. This was a huge swing and miss by HEB. Wow I can't believe how much me and my family love H-E-B! We have only lived around Austin for about a year and a half but it is so refreshing to have such a well-run business with great attentive employees and the feeling that everyone is a team and really. Most places you go to employees kind of seem like they don't want to be there but H-E-B is like a well-oiled machine. We love the bakery department and the wine selection. I am only giving this particular location this review (Dripping Springs location close to RR12 and Hwy 290). Most of the staff is less than friendly seemingly very unhappy working here and make the atmosphere uncomfortable. Cashiers/baggers often (like almost every time) don't get all your items in your bags or cart -no idea where these groceries continuously disappear to as never see them left behind but they will admit that they did not bag them or place them in your cart as they do keep a written log and one manager was able to track how the cashier ignored 5 of my items last week via a video (that is what he said -via a video)...but of course you will be charged for your missing items. They do not make an effort to stop you before you exit the store to give you your paid for items either. It's better for them that way as they can keep making money on someone else purchasing the same exact items as you so what do they care? Often produce is packaged to look great on the top of its see-through packaging but when you turn upside down is a slimey mess. These are strategically placed in the most trafficked areas (not in the produce section)so you will hopefully buy the rotting produce as an after thought and rid them of the nuissant inventory. There's an arrogance and unaccountability with most management when you call or visit the store in person to try to remedy and a strong reluctance to understand how this is a serious inconvenience for you as their customer. HEB has a monopoly in the grocery market in Texas which allows for these sorts of things to happen over and over and over without them giving a hoot or considering the customer's inconvenience with their time, money,effort, mileage and gas. If you have to grocery shop, do yourself a favor and go to any other location such as Nutty Brown or Wimberley ( a smaller store but far fewer problems with). Or better yet, give a more deserving store your time and money. HEB ain't what it used to be. read more

(2018) I love living in Dripping Springs and I'm a very big Central Market + HEB fan. But this HEB is one of the worst locations. Can't cook half the meals I'd like to because they don't carry the needed or fresh ingredients. Hoping they will catch up with the areas growth & needs and update this HEB or add a Central Market nearby. (2023) I wrote the above review in 2018 after living in the area for 6 years... 5 years later, the HEB Dripping Springs is still the consistently worst stocked and depressing HEB that underserves the growing community surrounding it. I drive into town 30 minutes to Central Market to avoid this miserable store. The produce section is sad. This store prioritizes processed food stock over fresh produce options if you want to work towards a life filled with obesity, high blood pressure, or diabetes. We call this location "the HEB of Dripping tears" because I can never cook a full recipe because they either they don't carry ingredients, or they're out of stock or in poor quality. Our neighbors won't buy fish from this market anymore (we never have) because the salmon gave them food poisoning. Please update this HEB!! The HEB Wimberley and Bee Cave and other area HEBs outshine Dripping Springs by leaps and bounds and it is long overdue for a COMPLETE upgrade (not just a little fluff upgrade to the wine department). read more

Even though I've mostly figured out where everything is now, if I get to the register and have forgotten something that is in the new section, it is such a walk to get to it. I really enjoy the Dripping HEB the majority of the time. The place is kept clean and always has a good selection and variety, we are always able to find everything we need grocery wise when we come in. They've got a lot of very nice staff members and a few who are kind of rude every once and a while, depends on when you go in. That can probably be said for most places. A lot of the HEB brand foods are GMO now, they say "Contains bioengineered food ingredients," not "GMO". Not everyone is concerned about that understandably but we are, so we have to spend a lot of time reading labels now, to avoid it. We are a little disappointed that HEB "Sold out," and started using GMOs but a lot of places are doing that now because it's a more affordable way to mass produce food, so we understand. We still love HEB. My husband gets angry sometimes because there will be a lot of the young employees standing around at the front, seemingly not doing anything and nobody is bagging groceries. It doesn't bother me as much to bag my own groceries but it peeves him because the young individuals are being paid to bag and don't seem to be doing anything. It doesn't happen every visit, we have some visits where there are always baggers. Probably depends on who is working when we're there, if they're short staffed, etc. As I said, I am a fan of this HEB for the most part and I think they are doing the best they can and doing really well as a whole. read more

Stopped in to grab some quick snacks for our trip to the falls. Glad we were able to stop in after seeing these all over the place. Nice variety of everything. We settled on some to go items which were fresh and reasonably priced and of course could not walk out without a dessert catching my sons eye. Bought three Mexican cookies. Delicious all of them and super fresh. Cashier seemed a little bit annoyed at I was bagging my own stuff. Not sure whether they did it or I did it, so I just did. Last week, I was having car trouble and had a small issue getting out of the parking lot. These two gents, glowing of management material, Dylan and Caesar offered a hand in my time of need, literally --multiple hands in fact, gave all they had-- and threw in an extra umph of core strength to really ensure the job was done as swiftly and efficiently as possible. I do believe the service is very good. The food it is better brand recognition then Walmart and Kroger. If you want to have better food come to HEB. The atmosphere is really good. I believe the store can probably can 3000 people gas station can probably handle 3000 gallons of fuel read more

This HEB needs to retrain half of their employees on Customer Service. Been twice in 1 week and bad experiences both times. I LOVE MY HEB, I've missed it being out of the country for the past 3 years. I was very disappointed. There's a handful of rude employees that have the attitude, "That's not my department." when you ask for directions to a specific item. This afternoon, I walked in to where the rotisserie chickens are normally found. Didn't see them so I asked the 1st employee I saw. Her exasperated reply, "Well they're NOT in the Bakery Department." Mind you, she was up front, NOT standing behind the bakery counter, I had NO WAY of knowing she was STRICTLY Bakery Dept. Normally it doesn't matter WHO you ask at HEB, they're always willing to help. She then told me to go to the deli dept, which I did. The gentleman there informed me, "They're not available yet but when they are we put them right in front of the BAKERY DEPARTMENT." I needed help finding another item, found some employees that were socializing. I was still polite & waited for an opportunity to ask. They were clearly annoyed & then sent me to the wrong aisle on top of it all. Honestly makes you wonder if HEB is slacking on their Customer Service training. I actually witnessed an employee behind the register who was over 65 years with Parkinson's who had been told by management she could not wear a mask, or gloves, because HEB did not want people to panic or get a negative 'vibe' during the virus. HEB continues to be our family's favorite palace to shop! Their produce section is continuing to grow, especially in the organic selections, which we love. The meat counter & seafood crew is always on point and helpful, the bakery always has fantastic fresh bread, their floral department is gorgeous, and they support tons of local businesses. Staff is always friendly, polite and welcoming. They also have been super respectful of individuals rights when it comes to masks etc. never making anyone feel uncomfortable, out family is extremely grateful for that! We love heb! A great place to visit if you're feeling nostalgic and miss grocery shopping circa 1980. Not sure which is worse, the layout, the selection, or the checkout experience. I just spent 20 minutes grabbing some items, would've been less if ALL of the tea were in the same aisle as coffee not just the single serving tea. Took a few extra minutes to figure out that tea bags are actually a few aisles down from there. Topping off 20 minutes of shopping with a 25 minute sentence to the checkout. And there were only 2 people ahead of me on line! Watching the cashier run items over the scanner onto a belt rather than placing them directly in a bag like other chains have been efficiently doing for 20+ years, before moving to the end of the belt to bag my groceries. You'd think if you're committed to this antiquated approach you'd at least hire enough staff to assist the cashier with bagging. Instead I think they're expecting the customer to do the bagging. Some advice ... get some folks from corporate on a plane up to any northeastern city that has a Wegmans. Spend about 30 minutes taking notes on how to run a grocery store. Come back and do your best to imitate as much of their way of doing business as possible. Then sit back and be proud of running a grocery store worthy of operating in 2019! read more

When I moved to Dripping Springs 2 years ago, I was delighted to see an H‑E‑B here. I didn't realize it was the ONLY grocery store in town. Normally, that wouldn't matter because HEB is always my first choice, However, this is the tiniest HEB I've ever seen, and it's inadequate to serve this area. The result is it's ALWAYS out of stock of many items. The dairy section is pathetic. Sometimes, it's almost completely empty. HEB has started using bioengineered ingredients in their brands, which are often the only choices as they don't restock brand names as quickly. I realize this area is growing, but there's plenty of land around this store, so why not expand? Since the Nutty Brown HEB opened, this H‑E‑B has been less crowded at times, and at least I can usually get milk there, although heavy cream is still out all of the time. Rotisserie chickens are like finding treasure. They've now started cooking less of them in case they don't sell out! Really? For all this time, they've been selling out because you're the only store, and now that customers have another choice, you stop making as many. I don't really want to drive an extra 15 minutes to the Nutty Brown store, especially when I only need a few items, but unless the Dripping store starts trying a little harder, and soon, I will be shopping elsewhere. Maybe H‑E‑B Corporate doesn't care, since we have NO other choices that shopping at an HEB here. At much as I dislike Kroger, I'd shop there if they built one out here. read more

I really liked this store compared to my typical HEB location. The store is quite large, clean, many options for food and friendly. We also happened to be there during prime sample times. I love this store. It is big (which suits the culture of Texas) and it has a large variety of materials. I like that they have a well sized Asian section in the market. My only complaint is that they have something as exotic as a dragon fruit, but they do not have any red chili Pepe of any kind. Overall, it is a great market. read more

We go to this HEB when we are not closer to south austin (Slaughter/ Escarpment) as this HEB is a bit smaller (and just different). However, tonight, I noticed that they dont make cheese bagels (like the HEB slaughter does??)...seriously? Have you had Cheese bagels ? SOOO GOOD! They also had 1.00 "fresh bread" at one of the checkouts and the bread loaves were about half the size of what we are used to buying...perhaps their oven wasnt working right or we got the "short ones" ? However, the customer service / speed at self checkout was AWESOME. Breanna was on top of it all and working quick to get customers helped, etc...so they could get in / get out quick ! Overall, a pretty good experience though.....still missing my cheesy bagel though !! read more

I came to this store because it was the only store with a opening for my daughter's wedding date on October 20th. At first conversation Veronica seemed to be knowledgeable enough. But after many phone calls and emails she still didn't have anything together we talked about on the consultation. She never returned phone calls or emails. She just was not up for the job. Today she finally calls me and has a quote, but then wants 320 dollars for a 15 mile Delivery Charge. Needless to say I don't have flowers for my only daughter's wedding, and now I have no idea what I will do read more

Dripping Springs HEB is a very clean and friendly place to shop. I just love that they have a section for people who are on the go and makes it easy to eat healthy and still save time and money. I just love the small fruit cups and there complete salads to go. They are the HEB Shake, Rattle & Bowl. They have several types to choose from and they are always fresh. Will recommend this HEB every time. read more

Not quite as wideranging as Bee Caves, but closer drive for me and a good store. IMPORTANT THING that isn't really obvious. They DO have meat cutters and butchers in the back, and if you want some custom butchery you just have to ask. Just because they don't have a walk up window like the sushi guy and the seafood guy doesn't mean they aren't around. Sometimes a man wants something custom for his grill or smoker, as ya know. HEB is actually an EXCELLENT grocery store. I love them. However, I can't rate seem to rate HEB home delivery separately and that's what this review is about. More specifically, HEB's purchase of FAVOR delivery. HEB is now using Favor drivers (and infrastructure for HEB home delivery). They broke a good thing IMHO. Did any of HEB's biz dev guys look at what they were purchasing?? WHY would HEB (a highly successful, CUSTOMER focused company) purchase FAVOR delivery which has a 1-star yelp rating and many, terrible 1-star reviews on yelp and google and any other place they are reviewed. HEB's home delivery has really suffered since they brought Favor in. Too bad. read more
