We have been EXTREMELY HAPPY H&R Block customers since 2005. We were customers in Kansas City, MO, Yucca Valley, CA, San Jose, CA, Watertown, CT, Southbury, CT and Miami Beach, FL. As you can see, we've relocated all across the USA due to our employment and NEVER felt unwelcome at any of their offices. We were greeted by the most friendly staff at each and every location and have made some friends along the way. 17yrs as a repeat customer speaks for itself and we've NEVER had a problem with our taxes. At times we've owed the IRS as much as $5,000.00 and we received a refund from the IRS for $15,000.00+. Just because one doesn't receive a huge refund isn't H&R Blocks fault, it's more than likely your own fault. I highly recommend you give them a try. After having been clients of the 29 Palms office for years, last years taxes were done wrong and this years haven't been filed yet as they have all our paperwork but haven't been open for us to come in and sign. we made an appointment to do so, we showed up to a locked building. we will be going elsewhere from now on. read more

Very, very over-priced for a 1040A tax return charged $275, Never told me ahead of the price.

A few major issues: First off, I don't know why H&R Block offices even exist. The guy took my returns and other paperwork, and punched them into a computer, which spit out my refund. I literally could have done that myself with tax software, for cheaper. Secondly, when I go into a tax place, I want them to be on my side. I'm not saying they need to break the law, but I want them digging into everything they can find to maximize my deductions. The way the guy here did business, I felt like he was on the IRS's side - not mine. Finally, and this is a big one, I got a second opinion after I went here. This place had me paying about $1500 more than I needed to. Next time, I'm just doing my taxes at home. read more

Hr block is the worst tax preparation company. They messed up my taxes and then refused to help me or take responsibility. I had to have them redone by another tax preparation company. I incurage everyone not to use hr block. read more

Make sure if you go to this office that you purchase the Peace of Mind plan. Our tax preparer made a huge mistake in not reporting something that we gave him and because we did not purchase the POM plan all he could do was apologize for his mistake and send us on our way. We thought we made a good decision in leaving our regular office Liberty Tax in Indio because it would be closer for us and better service as they claim but no. I get that people make mistakes but for us to have to purchase something that guarantees their accuracy is ridiculous. Now we have to deal with the IRS fees because of a mistake made in an H&R office. read more

I went to Liberty taxes in the Walmart first and two employees were guessing what to input in the system and then wanted to charge me over $200 in fees. I was not confident in their abilities and Googled H&R Block and came here. As soon as I got here I immediately noticed the difference in professionalism and knowledge with the staff. The employee who helped me, Nancy, was extremely experienced and polite she knew exactly what to input and filling out my forms was a breeze. The whole process was over in less than 30 minutes and they charged me $150 less in fees than what Liberty wanted. I will recommend Nancy to everyone I know and highly recommend you go there instead of Liberty! read more

Don't go there. Major rip-off. Had my daughter's taxes done. She gets In-Home Support Services and only needed to get reimbursed for taxes taken out in error. No deductions and they ripped her off for $214 fee. read more

H & R Block's incompetence and deception has cost me $1130 for one year and hundreds more for errors on another year. My 2015 taxes were done by this office. I then received a letter from the Franchise Tax Board because H&R Block had done my 2012 taxes incorrectly. I had to pay $1130 in back taxes and $438.99 in fees and penalties. The manager told me not to worry because I had paid for the Peace of Mind (POM) guarantee, so I would be reimbursed by H&R Block. She told me the deadline for the POM claim was October 15, 2016 so I paid the taxes and provided her the documentation to file the claim on October 5, 2016. She said she filed the claim and I would receive a check within 4-6 weeks. After 6 weeks and no check I called the office. A new manager told me my POM claim was never filed by the previous manager, so she had to file it. In November I received a check for the fees and penalties but not the $1130 guaranteed by Peace of Mind, for which I had paid extra. I called the H&R Block corporate offices and asked for a review of my case on December 2. Over the next 3 months, I got a different person and received a different story each time I spoke to H&R Block. I was told they were waiting to hear back from the field, then told my case was dormant, then my case was denied and closed, then the case was filed as my tax mistake, then it was open and would be resolved, etc. On March 7, 2017 I was called and told that they would not reimburse me for the $1130 in back taxes because the claim wasn't filed on time. When I again pointed out that I had been deceived about the deadline she said I'm sorry but they weren't going to pay the claim, even though H&R Block is responsible for what their employees do and say. Two weeks ago I was informed that H&R Block also did my 2013 taxes incorrectly and last week I had to pay $625 in back taxes and will have to pay hundreds more in fees and penalties for 2013.
