I was quoted $1100, which I paid $600 to start the process. I uploaded and signed the documents that were requested. I never received another phone call. Catherine requested I redo documents because they did not have them. I did get 3 emails at random times asking 1 question or to submit documents. This process went on for 1 month. I was unable to access their portal and had to send sensitive information through regular email. Once my taxes were finally ready my new quote was $2400. I received no tax strategy plan, no guidance, I could have went to H&R block. I will definitely not be using their services again.

Do I think he's good at explaining tax realities? Definitely. However, Mr. Owens seems to be laboring under a preconceived notion the IRS is a good faith institution. They are not. Founded during the Civil War the IRS exists only to hurt us. So I will eventually apply for a 72 month payment plan to handle the 15K penalty I was told I will be punished with for needing cash now. I will definitely not go out of my way to make a good faith payment to the IRS. That will not happen. Only a payment plan I can afford. "Render onto Caesar what is Caesars" sure. I believe he wants to do right by his customers, but... when it all comes down to it he really only wants customers who are willing to pay premium pricing for average (at best) services. THE BAD - For me, his kindness ended when I simply asked him why he charges almost twice as much ($500 for my personal taxes compared to someone else who charged me $300 last year) as other CPA's when he is doing the same calculations for your taxes. After spending an hour and a half discussing my tax history with Albert, I finally asked about pricing. This is when he told me about his high prices. So I let him know that for the sake of time I would be willing to pay him to do my taxes this year, but at that price I would likely not continue to use him year after year. To my surprise, he got defensive at this point and let me know that I should probably find someone else to do my taxes because it "wouldn't be worth his time" to do my taxes for one year. What good business person turns down easy money when you have already done half the work? THE SILVER LINING - Although this guy completely wasted my time, I'm happy he showed his true colors. I have plans to purchase a franchise or start a business in the near future in addition to potentially investing in real estate. I would hate to work with someone who feels they are "too good" to work with me on my simple taxes when I know my taxes will become more complex in time. Baity and Assoc. spoke to the IRS and eventually got roughly 60k of penalties and fees dropped and my payments cut by 2/3. They were professional and reassuring during the whole process and I shutter to think what kind of situation I'd be in without them. As for their fees - I've been to 3 previous accountants who racked me over the coals with fees and never delivered a portion of the service and peace of mind I have now because of Baity and Assoc.
