27 Feb 2021 Our first time with H&R BLOCK and we had the good fortune to also get Brian N for our tax consultant- the guy is great! We own rental property on the mainland and tried doing our taxes with TurboTax and they said we'd owe. Brian went over everything slowly and we ended up receiving a small refund which is better than owing! They're COVID conscious and exceptionally professional - even though our appointment didn't start on time, the young lady explained what was going on, encouraged us to walk around the mall, and called as soon as Brian finished! He in turn was exceptionally apologetic and got right down to business, completed our returns quickly and we left extremely satisfied with the way we were treated and the quality of work performed by Brian! Brian N. cost me an expensive audit! His deduction suggestion was thrown out by the IRS and I ended up paying more taxes plus interest and penalties! And the "Peace of Mind Insurance" is bogus: There are many loopholes so they don't have to help you. read more

I screwed up and didn't read the countless crap reviews already posted about this company, I could have been spared by just the common curtesy of a few welcoming questions before typing a good portion of my info into the system and them her telling me the what cost was going to be. I opted not to file my taxes with the company after a hour of giving up personal details about me and my husband. I woke up at 1am with a horrible feeling like I just got identity scammed. We have been going to H&R for 7+ years. Brain has always done our taxes and even fixed it for free when there was a problem. Well Brain is no longer there. We thought because they have insurance it would be ok. So we proceed to make an appointment. We saw their senior advisor, Henry. We sat down and asked a few tax questions. Which he proceeded to advise me to seek the answer elsewhere. He also said that customers where giving him "pressure". That should of been my first clue. I figured let's try asking him easy questions; like the maximum refund policy for H&R. When he said I retire next year and couldn't explain their policy, we decided to leave. I hope our experience can help others. Maybe another location and Tax professional might be better. We also tried calling another location. We explained what happened they tried to accommodate. We had to call about 6 times to get someone on the phone. Do not recommend!!! read more

Do not go! Go elsewhere! They rush you, don't go over each question, you have to stop him/her from just Rapid clicking through the screens. I read each one, and would tell her stop, what was that? And she seemed to get frustrated that I wanted to read it, and said "you don't get qualify for that!" I said but I want to know what that means, and I hate when sentences start with "basically......." because basically that means generalization thought or basically I don't give a shit so stfu. Also if I hadn't stopped her, I would have missed my deduction (which is why I had a wad full of receipts which she saw but didn't ask about them) and she was more irraz that she had to input it. I am sorry, you do not need my social security number over the phone just to make an appointment. The gentleman was polite however there is zero necessity to require a social over the phone to schedule an appointment for anything. I am not sure if this is a rouge employee or policy but either way my business is going elsewhere. read more

If I could give this company zero stars I would. They have no concept of accurate tax laws and their piece of mind guarantee is a joke. We received nearly $500 in penalties for not filing appropriate taxes and when we approached them to get payment for the penalties they said they would need to file a Claim with corporate before we would see any money (in 4-10 weeks). They filed a claim for only 1 of the 4 penalties that were received that was only $50. Needless to say they are very incompetent and We will never have our taxes done by them again. read more
