My Mother passed away July 2023, I had her taxes done at H&R Issaquah April 2024.....my taxman left out 2 very important documents so..here it is Feb 2025, and I am still not getting my refund from IRS. This is the second H&R Block to mess up our taxes. Got a letter saying that our 2018 taxes were messed up. It seems that their tax pro left out an important document. Not only that, lost it as well. We don't know where it went. Another person could have got it in their paperwork. As we were told by another person working there that this person makes mistakes. Our biggest mistake was trusting H&R Block Now we have to pay a lot of money. The person who did our amended return actually did it wrong. When we went to sign it we noticed it didn't look right. The pro that as there told us that they saw it wasn't correct but was going to let us sign it anyway. That is now 3 people at this location that messed it up. All the guarantees they try to back out of. They told us we didn't purchase them even though we did. I totally have no faith that anyone at the Issaquah location can do anything correctly. We had to have it correctly done at the Sammamish location. We are done with H&R Block. We will never use them again for anything. I will never recommend anyone else to use them either. read more

I have had some painful experiences filing taxes in the past and I realized it wasn't the tax process, it was the location and staff I was getting the service from. This year I came to the Issaquah H&R Block and was not once disappointed! I strongly feel that Lydia the manager is the reason why I wasn't a worked up mess this year. She was professional, smart, patient, and just a joy to sit with! I had to come in twice this year because some of my paperwork wasn't finalized by my company so I had the pleasure of chatting with her more than once. I am actually looking forward to 2020 already because of her! I appreciate how she was super patient and spent time explaining the complexities of homeowner taxes to me. HORRIBLE SUPPORT. No updates, long wait times, not keeping up to callback promise. Waiting for 20+ days. The receptionists are super horrible and far away from being empathetic. I also felt a terrible bias how they handle escalation when the receptionist transferred my call to an analysts of my ethnicity. VERY HORRIBLE BIAS!!! Basically, I requested help as I have been waiting for 20+ days and instead of having my concern addressed having a person of my ethnicity handle my case looks more racial. So does H&R Block mean to say only a person with similar ethnicity will be able to help me ??? And no one else would help?? This would be my LAST Time to use H&R Block service in ISSAQUAH. Horrible!! This is my updated 2/5/2023 review. I went today and I have to give them 10 stars if I could. Nira always is patient, knowledgeable, smart, attentive and detail oriented. I have to say that even though I had been on the phone almost 365 days this last year TRYING to get someone from the IRS to even talk to me, her instructions at least gave me one year back from last year when my ordeal began. Another year in, she is amazing. The entire event went through nearly 30-35 minutes to say transparently. I think with the fact I had all of my papers and the gentleman at the front desk was so informative about scanning everything in right at the front. I love this office. If you need someone to do your taxes, you should select them. Given by the horrific ordeal I had to endure the last 2 years, Nira is the best. The most amazing and patient. We came here to do our taxes and had Dawn for our agent. She is normally from the Tacoma location but thank goodness she is in Issaquah during tax season! She is fantastic! Not only is she super cheerful and friendly, she took the time to explain everything to us and showed us how to set up our taxes next year to our liking and get more deductions. For this year, she asked for several things we didn't have on hand but scheduled us for another appointment later that day so we could go home and grab the documents. Great service and everyone was super friendly. We will definitely be back to see Dawn next year! read more

Based on another review, I scheduled an appointment to see Dawn B. I am so thankful that I did! I feel sorry for the other reviewer who got stuck with an unpleasant/rude tax specialist because Dawn was AWESOME!! I effed up my taxes pretty bad the last 2 years, so decided I better get it straight this year. Dawn helped with my 2013 return, gave me pointers on how to make things better in the future AND helped me amend my return from 2012. When I say "helped me" I mean Dawn's a dang genius and did it for me. And she helped me figure out a bunch of stuff on the IRS website, made sure I had the right phone numbers I needed to deal with them, and helped us figure out a decent plan for paying off all of our tax debt. Dawn was so friendly, never made me feel like a moron (because believe me, I sure made myself feel that way...*derp*), and did basically EVERYTHING within her power to help us. She is a Tax Specialist sent straight from heaven. I hope she's still around next year! I would even make the drive to Tacoma if necessary! read more

I used H&R Block for the past few years, I went to the same woman every year because she made zero mistakes and was very accurate, friendly. Never had any issues. This year however I scheduled an appointment and I told them to schedule me with the same person as last year, they didn't and apparently my favorite tax lady is no longer at this location . I went along with it reluctantly and gave this other woman a chance. I was wrong to give her a chance and should of re-scheduled, she supposedly has 12 years experience but yet she got up several times to ask the other tax pros questions, she didn't communicate with me about much and didn't explain anything. I told her several times I didn't want my refund going back on the emerald card they issue, now she messed it up so all of it will be going back on that card vs my checking account which is what I actually wanted. I tried to go in again for help to see if I could change it to my checking and they said no. I'm not going back to this location unless my tax woman Kate Durkin the best tax pro around comes back. read more

This was not my first time going to this office, but it will be my last, Marina was suppose to be my preparer. well that did not go so well, she did not understand me, I did not understand her. She was verbally abusive and judged me because I do not make enough money for her? She decided after we were almost done to just stop, after my boyfriend stuck up for me, We stood up for ourselves so, she got mad, and stopped doing my taxes. If you are on any type of public aid, do not go there, they will treat you like a second rate citizen, she, the preparer told me I need to make more money!! I am a single parent, I do the best I can. Dawn was outstanding, provided such clarity with what was a messy tax return, absolutely thrilled with her attitude experience and professionalism. Dawn gets 5 stars, H&R Block gets minus 1 as after dawn moved back to her regular office our file was transferred to Bellevue where they promptly lost it, losing all of Dawns work, and providing one of the most incompetent and hard to deal with accountants I've ever met who had no interest in apologizing it remedying. This is my first time working with H&R,right from scheduling to the submission everything went very clear. The representatives were very professional on call support. I went up there and I see the front desk person who was very pro active did well. The tax specialist Cheronne Shafir was excellent, very calm women. She was very patient and explained me in detail about everything that she was doing. I had some issues with the insurance and W2 from one of the company. She had a double check with her senior and got the things to a proper way. She gave me couple of advises and suggestions which I think are important and to be noticed next time. I ended up paying $223.25 for pretty much nothing that I couldn't of done myself on Turbo Tax for $25.00. Technically, it's my fault for not confirming charges prior to initiating the service, but I still feel robbed. If I want to save money in the future, I'm just going to stick with Turbo Tax. read more

This particular HR Block is TERRIBLE!!!! We did our taxes with HR for years, until a few years ago when the accountant we worked with at this location entered the wrong banking account information. This was their mistake, not ours and not the IRS's as they have tried to blame both. Yes, whatever you do, don't take any accountability. I mean mistakes happen, but you need to be able to fix them, and a "sorry" doesn't hurt either. We had to jump through hoops to fix THEIR mistake and it took forever to get our money. Of course, they could do nothing because although their employee typed in the incorrect information, it certainly wasn't their fault. Since then we have been doing our taxes on our own. However, this year, our 2014 tax return became more complex. We called to make an appointment with obvious concern due to our last experience. They were beyond rude and completely unhelpful. Clearly, nothing has changed. Stay away, this place sucks! read more
