DO NOT GO HERE!  DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR W-2's or sensitive information.  I dropped off my taxes 2 weeks ago and now they refuse to finish my taxes.  Details:  Nancy pushed me to drop off my taxes with incessant calls, something my gut told me not to do, but since Corona was in full effect, I didn't know when the office would be open so I decided to finally drop them off. I spoke with Nancy two weeks ago and she mentioned I'd need to procure some pay stubs for a particular job. Since then I've had some other questions that EDD has needed from me and she has never called me since and not returned any emails.  Finally she calls me on a SUNDAY and its pretty clear she doesn't remember me or anything about my paperwork. She calls me asking if I've received the stimulus? UHHH what does that have to do with anything? After I jog her memory about my case, she doesn't remember anything about needing additional paystubs and for what job. I pay for my taxes because I want 5 star service and so I don't have to deal with the headache to doing them myself.  We leave the call saying she will mail my papers and I can approve the taxes online.  Monday morning, I spoke with the Manager, John,  to ask if he can double check her work because I don't know that they are done correctly. He says she never received any calls or emails. He basically told me they are NOT going to complete my taxes and that I can come pick them up, he also said, "We can't please everyone".  I was shocked to be treated this way and to hear a buiness manager/owner speak to a customer this way but this is the epitome of Nevada County mentality of "we don't need you' and lack of customer service. I hate to go down the hill but the services there will be 5 star, which I am happy to pay for. read more

I went in with humble questions, knowing that I wasn't totally prepared to file on that day, but I was met with condescending, rude, insulting service. I was basically patted on the head and sent on my way like a child. I'm sure there was a professional/polite way to answer my questions so that I could prepare better for a future appointment, but I wasn't offered anything like that. Turned me off H&R Block altogether. I don't recommend this business unless you want to be treated like an idiot for not understanding everything about taxes. Seems like they should be here to help, but that's not the case. read more

We had a large annuity that had rolled over so we went to H&R Block to be sure it was reported properly. The 1099R was in our package but our tax preparer, Nancy, only glanced at it then put it down. It didn't dawn on us to question her--she was the expert and that's why we were there. A year later the IRS sent us an enormous bill because the rollover wasn't reported so it looked as though we had cashed it in - but we hadn't. It was rolled over into two new accounts. My husband had two strokes over the issue which took 7-1/2 months to finally clear. Needless to say, we've never gone to H&R Block since especially after the error was reported to them and nothing was done. Oh, I forgot, they offered us a $25 credit on our next tax return. read more

We have had nothing but good things to say about this H&R BLOCK. We love Jan Evers and Sue Gillming as they are amazing tax preparers and super patient when it comes to my sometimes unpreparedness. Since we have more complicated taxes with my husband being self-employed it is more time consuming as well as costs much more than I would like. Almost $500 it cost us this year!? The prices have gone up each year for the last 3 years which is quite irritating. Nonetheless I've been happy with the results and we always get a quick refund, within 2 weeks of filing. read more
