I had a good experience one year filing with them. This year I called and asked about the process…read moreto work with them and was informed they only do taxes online now. Thats fine, but the reason for the 1 star review is that the receptionist hung up on me without saying thank you or good bye. I said I prefer to come into the office and she said she would check to see if that is possible and put me on a brief hold and when she came back on the line she said: "We won't be able to do that." And then just hung up immediately. No closing salutation, nothing. I don't think I am being very picky about etiquette to say hanging up on a customer is beyond rude and unprofessional.

In April 2024, the NYS Department of Taxation sent a request for documentation regarding the Right…read moreof Return Credit. I provided this to you, yet you failed to respond. As a result, in July 2024 NYS disallowed the credit and placed me in collections. I have since met with you five times in your Jefferson Valley office. Each time you acknowledged the issue, but no corrective action was taken. Because of this, I now owe $490 in tax, penalties, and interest--a liability created solely by your inaction. R&G Brenner's own RGB Shield Accuracy Protection Guarantee states: "If you ever receive a letter from a taxing authority disputing a tax position, we'll help you rectify it. And if you are charged any penalties or interest as a result of an error we made, you're covered up to $2,000." My situation clearly falls within this guarantee: * I hired R&G Brenner for a paid, current-year return. * Your error caused the liability. * The amount owed ($490) is well under the $2,000 coverage. I am demanding that R&G Brenner immediately: 1. Assume responsibility for the $490 liability. 2. Submit a corrected filing to NYS to resolve the matter. 3. Provide written confirmation within 10 business days. If this is not resolved, I will escalate to the NYS Attorney General, Division of Consumer Protection, IRS Office of Professional Responsibility, and Westchester County Consumer Protection, and I am prepared to pursue civil action. This is how a simple transaction has been addressed.

We've always gone to another R&G Brenner location and LOVED our tax preparer. Unfortunately she is…read moreno longer there so we had to look for another location and came to Bethpage because we saw great reviews. Terrible experience there. We felt like our requests were not being respected and we were pressured to file one way because the preparer didn't want to spend more time figuring out the numbers for both married filing single and married filing separate. He literally sighed and said "thats going to take a loong time" and then proceeded to still not do what we asked, despite us asking multiple times. Spoke with Dan the second time and he was able to check both amounts within MINUTES with a click of a button. Customer service reached out and assured me that my amendment would be taken care of. However, when I went again in April (to a different location) the way that the first preparer did our taxes, it was NOT able to be amended. This mistake will cost me an extra $6,000 next year, which we cannot afford, on top of the $365 I paid to get my taxes done incorrectly (which I requested to have refunded due to HIS mistake and was denied), AND we got back $4-500 less than we would've gotten if he had done what I asked. I do not recommend getting your taxes done here. My husband could have done our taxes himself on TurboTax for 1/3 of the price, and saved $6k.

We had such a good experience with Lily the first time, we wanted to come back to her. I went in Jan. to inquire about an appointment with Lily to file our taxes, but was told she wasn't there that night and they tried to get me to file my taxes on the spot since I was there; luckily I insisted to schedule an appointment and do things properly, while being prepared thoroughly..... just to find out later on that Lily no long works there, when my boyfriend called prior to the appointment (because they seemed odd when I was there, and vague when I asked about Lily) Anyhow.... after being deceived ...I thought I'd try them anyways due to the overwhelming good reviews on yelp.. but the same lady with a stern face and glasses attended me 2-29-2016, was less than friendly; felt like a session with a stern catholic school nun .... not pleasant. Before I even sat down, I told her I wanted a quote on how much my tax refund would be filing with them...since H&R Block and another flushing CPA (Ruth Wu - Sr.Accountant of Liberty Accounting & Tax Services) provided me with their quote. All she was willing to tell me was that it's $50 to file, take it or leave it.... but they won't offer an estimation to let people shop around. So why have me sit down, and then look at all my documents??? I get more friendly faces attempting to file my taxes online with turbotax right now... they got cute pictures too and very user friendly platform... not to mention, cost less too. In short.... you're a paid service.... so how about learning some customer service skills ?? a smile? nicer phrasing when speaking to people? Ask Lily to give you some tips if you guys still keep in touch. She was so friendly about 2 years ago, we still look for her... Change how your customers are treated before you lose all your clients to online platforms. What a disappointment today. I was such an advocate of this place when they first opened too...tsk tsk

I've used their income tax prep services for about 3 years now. I like that the entire process can…read moreeasily be done via email, and via their secure website portal. When it's time for me to send them my information, copies of forms, etc., they first email me a document that contains about 20 or so items/questions that I need to respond to....things like my full name/address/SS....then info on charitable contributions...stock trades/dividends, etc. The usual. It's very easy to follow along and just answer the questions, save the document and then email it back to them. Uploading copies of 1099 forms, W-2's etc to their website platform is also very easy.
