Took over 5 months to finish my simple personal taxes. Do not recommend it at all. Go use Turbo Tax or any other licensed CPA do to your taxes. Since my taxes were late, due to them, I ended up having several hundred dollars in late penalties I had to pay out of pocket since they couldn't get their act together. read more

Please do not go here, first they continued to switch my appointment from 1 to 4 to 6 and then 7, then called me and said actually we're not seeing people can you just drop it off. I came to drop of the document and the entire office smelled like an ash tray. The 2 people in the front were arguing and didn't know how to run a check. Then they told me it would take 2 weeks to hear back from a preparer. After I said never mind I want my things back, they were refusing to return it. Horrible horrible experience. read more

I had set up an appointment online this year. I had cancel meetings and rush to make my appointment. Upon arrive the receptionist was rude, mean and unprofessional. I stated I had an appointment and she said no only "drop off". I told her nothing online stated anything about a drop off and that it scheduled an appointment. She said not sure what's going on, but it's only drop off. I said fine give me a few minutes let me put everything together and I'll give it to you. She said this will take at least 3-4 weeks before we will get back to you. I WASTED MY TIME AND CANCEL MEETINGS TO BE TOLD THAT THEY WILL NOT GET BACK TO ME FOR A MONTH!!!! I would give this place a zero star if I could. After doing my taxes myself year after year, I decided to give "professionals" a chance. I got an appointment online and went to the office. The person who was assigned to me took my paper work and told me it would take a week. A week passed and I did not hear from them so I called back. The lady told me that since she is trying to save me as much money, it will take another few days. Another week passed and after I did not hear back, I got an appointment online to see what was happening. An hour before the appointment was scheduled, I got a call from someone who told me that my taxes are still not done and that they have been assigned to someone different now. I had enough and went there and got my paperwork back. They just gave me my paperwork back and said Bye; no apology, nothing. This is one of the most unprofessional experience I have had. I guess the only silver lining is that I filed my taxes online again using TurboTax (last couple of years I used H&R Block Advantage online), and it cost me almost half of what H&R Block had quoted me... I cannot say enough about Michael Carlo. He is an absolutely delightful man. He is honest, knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. Having him prepare my taxes brings me peace of mind and I'm certain that I'm getting all the deductions that I can legally claim. Everything started out well and I had my questions answered and was ready to move forward with filing. I had homework though, so I went home and dug up the remaining documents I needed. Emailing 2 of them and hand delivering a third. After that I could not get the person assigned to me, Gail, on the phone, or to reply to phone messages. The person who answered the phone said she had questions and would call me when she came in. No such call ever happened. This is the worst customer service experience I have had in recent memory. I called today and let them know I was coming to pick up my documents. Making an appointment with someone else tomorrow. Maybe they will act like they want my business. Update: I admit I was not surprised to see the canned response below but I figured I would see what "Make it right" meant. I was on hold between 5-10 minutes and the person on the line had no idea where I would have gotten the number and the only thing she seemed able to do it act like I was an idiot and offer to make an appointment at a different location. Honestly wouldn't go back there again. I've filed with HR block every year since 2011 and this is the first time I've felt dismissed by my tax consultant. I wanted to sit and review my tax documents again, but basically told there was no need too "Come in and pay". ::shrugs shoulders:: maybe Liberty or Jackson Hewitt next year. After having had a satisfactory experience w/ our 2017 taxes, which included the sale of our home in McLean, we were somewhat surprised to have a terrible follow up. Gail, who is a senior tax preparer, was extremely unprofessional to the point of being rude & insulting. She was virtually impossible to get on the phone & was heard to say at one point, "I don't have time for this?!" Clearly, her temperament is not conducive to this line of work & I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere for your tax preparer. read more

It's that time of year again and no one, no one, loves to do their taxes! Our experience with this H&R Block location was painless. We had an appointment and were seated almost immediately upon arrival. Our tax preparer Gina, was very friendly, helpful, and most importantly, knowledgeable. The time flew by and we were able to be in and out of there within an hour and a half. If you come prepared with all your paperwork, the process should be painless for you too!So, if you still haven't done your taxes and are looking for a place to get them done before the April 15 deadline, consider this H&R Block location. read more

I walked in to inquire about getting my taxes done and was greeted with a finger to tell me to wait. Then the woman said they were too busy to do double checks and when I then inquired about pricing about them doing my taxes she simply said " what's the problem, why can't you just do your taxes?" I believe that is the wrong thing to ask a tax customer. She would not give me any pricing information either. It was a terrible experience. Would never return. read more

Last year they did our 2014 taxes. We made an appointment with Michael who didn't bother to how up and we ended up with someone else who did our taxes wrong. We had to refile. On that visit to fix things and refile, we met with Michael. He did okay and saved us some additional money. But he also gave us some incorrect information on filing the state taxes and we ended up paying some penalties. Okay, fast forward one year. Let bygones be bygones and try again. We ask Michael for an appointment to do our 2015 taxes. He gives us a few times to choose from. We choose one. We spend a week trying to get him to confirm. He never bothers to respond; and yet, he books that particular day solid including the time slot he had given us in an email. I would not recommend using these people at all. We are going elsewhere. Just like last year, we will be contacting the branch owner/franchise owner to voice complaints. read more
