I found B&A after an exhaustive Yelp search and speaking to a few tax preparers on the phone. Of…read moreall the ones I spoke with, B&A seemed the most "with it." I worked directly with David, who was all business and answered every question I had. David's a bit old school (likes to work with paper, which is fine) so just make sure you connect with the office's admins if you want to send your documents electronically in advance of your in-person meeting with your tax preparer. Note: In prior years I used Turbo Tax, but as my taxes have gotten more complicated over the years, I had less confidence that I was doing them correctly via TT, so I felt a lot better working with a real person at B&A. If you're willing to pay a few hundred bucks to have your taxes done right, B&A is the way to go in the Arlington/Alexandria area.

ALL the people I called helped me with kindness and sympathy. Enter Mitch Brandt. Not kind not sympathetic. I will never forget the day he said abruptly ... what did your brother do? Sorry to bother you Mitch! I paid him over $1000 to prepare my brothers 2023 taxes and the IRS still hasn't processed them. Mitch won't return my emails. All I can say is DO NOT do business with this man. He is unkind, unprofessional, and expensive. Virginia you can do better.

I will try to balance this review with pros and cons…read more Pros - He is extremely knowledgeable and truly knows the tax laws like the back of his hands. His early assistance was prompt, thorough and he also is very experienced with various tax issues. Cons - He has the capacity to be highly unprofessional once his comfort level settles in. I have been on the receiving end of him yelling on the phone, and attempting to scare me into thinking if I didn't hire him and his tax attorney for assistance (for a few thousand dollars) that I could end up in prison. I could go on and will spare you the details, but the bottom line is after several weeks of his subsequent unresponsiveness, I lost a lot of time. The good news is I successfully managed on my own without help and received a favorable response from the IRS in the end. The bad news is I wasted time and experienced unnecessary stress related to Rich's exaggerated 'scare tactics' about my tax situation. While I appreciate Rich's early assistance, over time his professionalism eroded. But don't take my word for it, just take a moment to review his response to the other less than stellar review on here as he illustrates my point himself with perfection. In fact, I suspect he may take aim at me personally as well after reading this and take the same approach, so just a heads up. This review is not to steer anyone reading away from soliciting Rich's services or to imply that others' experience may mirror my own because you may very well receive issue-free service as many other reviewers seem to have had, but as this site is dedicated, largely, to providing a forum for honest reviews on service providers, I am sharing my experience with others so they can make an informed decision.

He send me some messages via his portal and some Junk mail about his blog/videos. When I message him thru his portal, he tells me that unless its Top Secret just text him. That makes zero sense. Anyways moving on he come back and tells me $350-$380 and that he offer all this other service with it at no additional charge. Well I had came from a wonderful lady who has prepare my taxes for the last 10 years and she had passed due to COVID19- If i was to move forward with him, I had some questions. 1. Base off what he saw how much I made, would i be getting a return or owe in general obviously he wouldn't know but he as in SME in taxes should have an idea. 2. His estimate seem high and about 3x what Ive been paying. Anyways he send me back this ridiculous email about how you cant get turbo tax for 1/3 of his price. Price is key but Customer service beats all. If you cant answer questions and get mad easily this was a transaction that Im glad I didn't go thru with. He seem like a Grumpy old man. Dont let his profile pic full you.
