I would have rated you lower than a star if I could have. My…read moreexperience with this accounting office was extremely disappointing and frustrating. First, they charged me $250 for a basic filing service that most other professionals offer for around $100. Unfortunately, the inflated price did not come with better service -- quite the opposite. The office itself is filthy and poorly maintained, which should have been a red flag. The accountant simply gave me advice to handle my case with the Tax dept. that created serious issues for me and then completely disappeared. I tried to contact him more than 10 times over the course of 17 days with no response. My emails and messages were ignored until the deadline to submit my documents had already passed. Only after the deadline did the secretary message me saying I should solve my problems on my own -- because the accountant is on vacation. When I voiced my frustration about the lack of response, the secretary actually hung up on me. They were okay only until I made the payment -- after that, they acted like I no longer mattered. "the photo attached explains a lot." The accountant also carries himself with an arrogant, dismissive attitude -- as if he's doing clients a favor just by responding. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this level of unprofessionalism, neglect, and disrespect deserves to be called out. I would not recommend this office to anyone.

I was more than satisfied with their explanation and eagerness to earn my business and trust. I've taken them up on the offer to work with them so have updated the review initially and provide a final review once completed. ______________________________ Let me say the reason I reached out to Capitol CPA is because of their excellent reviews and they were my first pick. However, it's difficult to go with a company or trust them with your taxes when they can't even respond to you in a timely manner or at all. Let me detail my experience below: December 16, 2019: Send an inquiry through their website asking about availability for new clients. Receive a response from Steven that they're currently evaluating their capacity and will get back to me in a week. I respond immediately asking if I should follow up in a week or if they'll let me know? *CRICKETS* December 26, 2019: Ask for an update. Hear nothing, follow up with an inquiry through their website December 31, 2019: Receive a response from Steven apologizing for letting this slip through the cracks. They have room for new clients and ask for information. I respond an hour later with the information. *CRICKETS* January 19, 2019: Another follow up. Ask for an update. *CRICKETS* January 31, 2019: I give up. I reached out to three other companies and they immediately responded, asked for my tax information which I provided, and... immediately responded. So thank you Capitol CPA for wasting my time.

However this past year he dodged my emails/phone calls, my husband's emails/phone calls, and my elderly mother's emails/phone calls (we all file separately). He once picked up the phone and then pretended to be someone else when he realized I was calling for an update on my taxes. He lied to us about filing for an extension and took forms from my mother that he never returned. Ultimately he stopped replying entirely and we had to look for a new accountant, several months after the filing deadline. I just got a notice that I owe several thousand dollars in late filing fees because it turns out he also lied about getting an extension. I don't know what is going on and while I wish Steven no ill will, please do not work with this firm or him. I don't want this to happen to anyone else.

I have been using MillerMusmar for over a year now as an outsourcing accounting and CPA service…read moreprovider for my company (it was recommended to us by our previous on-staff accountant who had quit amidst the mounting pressure and heavy scrutiny). My main objective in using MillerMusmar was to demonstrate to the government customer that my company (besides being an innovator in artificial intelligence) has a sound accounting practices and proper procedures above and beyond of what was required to work with the DOD and to get us a Phase II contract (after several Phase I contracts) for developing the next-generation AI system. In general, these things could get very tricky (especially amidst the constantly changing government requirements and regulation). And we also had to do it while under heavy scrutiny from some government agents trying hard to stop small businesses from being able to compete. The long story short -- we have successfully fulfilled this goal and are now on a contract and in business. I am thus happy with the services provided.

From the beginning, the team at Miller Musmar has been professional and attentive. When I first reached out, I was dealing with some complicated tax issues that I'd been putting off, and I wasn't sure how to tackle them. They took the time to understand my situation thoroughly and explained everything in terms I could actually understand, which immediately put me at ease. What stands out most about working with Miller Musmar is their communication. I'm always kept informed about what's happening with my accounts and tax filings. They respond to emails and phone calls promptly, and they make sure I understand deadlines and what's needed from me well in advance. There's never any confusion about where things stand or what the next steps are. That level of clarity has been invaluable, especially during tax season when things can get hectic. The transparency they provide has also been impressive. They're upfront about costs from the start, so there are no surprise fees or unexpected charges down the line. They explain their billing clearly and I always feel like I'm getting fair value for the services provided. They've also been proactive about finding deductions and strategies that have saved me money, which shows they're genuinely looking out for my best interests rather than just processing paperwork. Their approach is efficient and thorough. They don't drag things out unnecessarily, but they also don't rush through important details. Everything gets done in a reasonable timeframe, and I've never felt like my work was being delayed or that the process was being stretched out for billing purposes. They're organized, detail-oriented, and they catch things that I would have missed on my own. What I appreciate most is that they take a collaborative approach. When decisions need to be made, they present options clearly and help me understand the implications of each choice. They never make me feel like I'm asking stupid questions, and they're patient in explaining complex tax matters. I feel like I'm part of the process rather than being kept in the dark. I called Dominion early in January and was able to get a spot as a new client. (I later learned that they only open a few new client spots every year, so I recommend trying them in December or January if you want to get a spot.) I called the morning of my appointment to make sure they were still open, since a snowstorm had canceled schools and many local business closed for the day. Not only was Dominion still open, but they were able to move my appointment to earlier in the day since other clients had canceled. As soon as Carson was done with his previous appointment, he welcomed me back to his office and we started going through the paperwork. Carson was so great. It's clear that he is extremely familiar with the tax code and entered all my paperwork quickly. He helped me access some additional information online when we realized I needed an additional piece of real estate paperwork. He even explained some deductions that we were eligible for that I was unaware of and allowed me to submit that paperwork later after I collected the necessary information at home. Perhaps the most amazing part of all of it is that Dominion only charges a $150 flat fee for your personal taxes. I thought for sure it would be like one of these chain tax places where the base rate only applies if you are filing in one state or have a single W-2. Their price is more than fair to know that your taxes are done right and you are getting as many deductions as possible based on your individual situation. I'll definitely be back next year!
