Do not use these services ever. They completely screwed up my direct deposit and still to this day owe me over $1200. They keep telling me that I have to fill out forms to get my money but what did I pay them for? They're the ones that made the mistake now I have to jump through hoops to fix there mistake? Today, I called to check to see why I received a letter from the State of California Franchise Tax Board with a payment due and a penalty and interest due as well. Apparently, Ms Ulloa had assisted me for a fee and somehow I overlooked the fact that I electronically filed the tax forms and did not send in a payment back in April for the taxes owed to the state. This is something that I did and it did not arrive or I failed to send out a payment either by mistake and overlooking or forgetting that I needed to finish off my taxes with mailing a check. So I called to verify this and found out that you can file electronically and still send a check to the FTB. Ok. the two stars is for the man who answered the phone on behalf of the office. I had to explain five times that I needed to verify what I thought may have happened. He did not seem pleasant and he was the only one there. He had someone come in while we were talking and he said "I'm the only one here. Sit down". When we were done, he said. "OK" and nothing else. Strange customer service. I am feeling bummed that I paid for all this extra service via the website and then still ended up with a 50 dollar penalty and 17 dollars of interest. Warning to you. Do not forget to make the payment with a voucher after eletronically sending your taxes to FTB. read more

I just need to say that I would have appreciated a bit better customer service. I brought my Aunt in to help her do her taxes, and we both had questions about her case, so we hoped that a "tax professional" would help give us a little clarity or advice on some next steps. All the person did there was plug in numbers in a program, which seems to be something we could have done on our own, and then collect hundreds of dollars from us. The representative was Roger Moore, and I felt like we were being brushed off, and not given the proper respect as paying customers for this sensitive work. The main thing he did was refuse to email our tax return so we could continue our time sensitive business of buying a house. He just said: "I cant do that." with no explanation or empathy. I even asked if he could just scan the completed hard copy in their machine and just send it to my email. Again, he said he could not. After spending our time and money there, I found it very wrong for him not to accommodate a very simple request. If you want to feel secure and at ease with your tax actions, I cannot recommend here. This is not the first time their staff was not attentive and serviceable to me. A few years ago I ended up owing the IRS for a payment plan that I was not made aware of by my tax preparer there. She just rattled off info to me without telling me the consequences of the action. Be careful here. Roger Moore was very dry and unhelpful beyond doing the bare minimum to get us to leave. Save your money on Turbo Tax because here you will just get shoddy service and no help with even scanning a simple document, so what is the point? Thank you. read more

My tax pro Henry was very helpful. The problem I had with this office was that my taxes were put on "hold" because my husband needed to come in person to sign our taxes..fine no problem. I completed the taxes (minus my husband's signature) and paid over $300 then my husband came the same evening to sign our taxes. A week later our taxes still showed being worked on in our account. After me reaching out to the office to see what was going I learn my taxes were filed in the office instead of sent to the IRS. Ummm excuse me!? You don't follow up with paper work with important information on it? How does it just get filed! I don't even want to think what would have happened if I didn't call to check up on someone else's work. I have filed with this office for multiple years, but will definitely be going somewhere else next year. read more

Went here for the first time to file my taxes and paid over $300. IRS sent me mail advising I was missing documents. I returned to the office for assistance and they turned me away to do it on my own. Long story short I paid to have my taxes completed and they are INCOMPLETE. I filed in January. I manage a small business and filing online only costs me $50-$80 when I went to file online this year, I wasn't sure if I was doing it right so I arranged to go see an "expert". She didn't even give suggestions or anything then turned around to charge me $398!!!! I felt cornered and had to pay it. Never again very expensive lesson to learn. So I went to this H&R Block to get my taxes done because I haven't filed and I didn't ever receive my stimulus check I advise the people that and asked if the IRS would take it because I figured I would owe a couple thousand dollars they said no they will not take it they can't take it and I would receive it shortly after I'm done within a week or two that was a total lie The IRS did take it I never received my payments or a benefit card not only that I complained online about it I received it response from H&R Block telling me to call them and they would fix it my issue they did not they had no idea why I was calling as well as looking over my taxes numerous numerous mistakes I probably would not owe any taxes if they done it correctly they put me as single not had a household I am definitely Head of household I have for dependence and none of this was noted I left the lady my tax information because I had an appointment that obviously was not a real appointment it was just to get me in there there was a line I had to Wayton and she never called me for any information just pretty much filed it to get her money she told me it was going to be $130 and when it was done it being 160 something dollars totally unprofessional totally lied to me did not do my taxes correctly at all I owe more now I am totally pissed off I reached out to HR they said that they were going to make a claim and they were gonna contact me within the next day they have not contacted me no resolution nothing was done do not goTo H&R Block do it yourself online through an app you'll save yourself time money and all this hassle that I'm dealing with now because I am broke I have no money I told her that I gave her my last basically $200 to get my taxes done so that I would receive my stimulus I've received nothing and they took my money am I on my taxes horrible horrible job job read more

I admit that when they have done my taxes I felt confident that they were done correctly, however. . .the price is ridiculous. Over $300 and I am single with no dependents and I do not own a business or rental property. They give you nothing for loyalty, such as a coupon off for next year. How cheap can you be? BE WARNED: The individuals in this office DO NOT know what the hell they're doing. About a month ago, I went into this office with a tax issue. The "professional" who prepared an amended return left information out, so this required a follow-up visit. I met today with office manager Nabil. From the get-go, he made it clear he was not happy to be there. There was zero concern for my situation and was combative from the moment I sat down. He kept asking me questions I didn't know that could have easily been discovered had he read my paperwork (that was sitting in front of him). I questioned him as to his attitude, and he became defensive. Instead of trying to diffuse the situation by even the most basic of customer service skills, he chose to continue being combative. IRS sent in the mail a document i was apparently missing. when i went back to advise of the notice they turned me away to do it on my own. basically, i payed a lot of money for them to complete my taxes and my taxes are INCOMPLETE. extremely inconvenient. filed in January. of course there's a pandemic and this is prolonging what was suppose to be efficient. i want my money back. read more

I have done my taxes at H&R Block for about 7 years now, My experience at this location for my 2012 year taxes has gone from "bad" to "I will never go to any H&R Block ever again. Everybody knows they charge a high price for there service. I paid this charge because I trust the large company backing and fully believe that they would stand by their advise: WRONG! My experience was bad in that the person was brand new, and asked for help on every question I had. He clearly wasn't more of a professional than me doing them myself. But if he did them right, and had to ask a lot of questions in the process, I would have never wrote this on Yelp. I got a notice from the IRS that I owed money to them. I thought, "I've always had H&R block do my taxes, I'm sure I'll be fine". When I took this notice to H&R block, I found out that the employee who helped me was fired and had messed up numerous other peoples taxes in the short time he was there. We had brought in my wife's paystub from her most recent unemployment check along with all the other paperwork (W2s). We were completely misadvised that we didn't need to do anything with unemployment and didn't have to claim that. Me nor my wife had ever recieved unemployment in our lives, so we didn't know. That is why someone pays H&R Block $300 to do their taxes! The manager (Robert Scott) helped me make a claim to HR Blocks headquarters to get the tax preparation fee (about $300) and the interest I owed ($20) the IRS. They denied me! I paid almost $300 to have someone process my taxes who didn't know anything. They then place a claim and it's decided by someone in Kansas City! That person doesn't know that this employee messed up numerous other returns and was fired If you are going to employ somebody who doesn't know that you have to pay taxes on unemployment (H&R Block) then you are not worth charging such a high fee for that service and I should have been refunded the interest charged to me and the fee for that tax preparation! I will no longer pay top dollar to get my taxes processed because of this situation! H&R Block didn't do anything, even though they acknowledged there employee messed up things for people and he messed up my taxes. read more

Went in on Friday to make appointment and was able to get in on Monday. The employee told me it would run between $99-$145. When Habil finished, the bill was $325. He apologized and said he could take fifty dollars off, that's the best he could do. He then tells me that he was just filling in at the Antioch office and he was manager at the Brentwood office. He said if I come to his come to the Brentwood office and he would take care of me next year. I asked if you can lower it next year why can't you do it now? He said he was just filling in. I told him he just lost a customer,as he followed me out to my car apologizing and telling me to go to Brentwood next year! I will be calling customer service tomorrow! read more

Johan was awesome. I have a property in another state and I knew I was going to have to pay this year. I started to do my own taxes online and it didn't seem right. I was really stressed about the whole situation and she worked extra hard in any way to get that number down. She called me the next morning and I fully expected to have to fork over thousands of dollars (clearly this is my first year not receiving a refund) and she somehow managed to cut that number in half. What a joke. 1st, the lady who did our taxes wrote down the wrong routing number for my direct deposit, not by one number but by 4. 2nd, when we got a text saying there was a problem with direct deposit and that we would be getting a paper check in 5 days it took a week and a half. 3rd, when calling to inquire about where the check was we were told "you know how the mail can be" oh and my favorite "don't know what to tell you, we did our job." Uh NO...YOU DIDN'T! Your job is to input numbers and you screwed that up. And now 4th, when we go to deposit the check it is put on an extended hold and not available for 2 weeks. What is it about an H&R checks that makes the bank want to hold your check for 2 weeks? This whole process has been a joke but I guess it doesn't matter because you got your $250 for a simple tax return. Word of mouth can be quite effective and rest assured my mouth will be speaking only negative. read more

H&R Block does not know how to do a tax return for a Trust. Even their expert on Trusts gave me erroneous information. I wasted my time with regular and expert staff on two occasions. H&R price was twice the amount charged at a large, reputable CPA firm that I went to who were knowledgeable and experienced with Trusts. read more

Came here because it was close to my house... walked in with no appointment and was greeted promptly, asked a few questions and then sat down to wait. About 30 seconds later, Lois Yamakoshi greeted me and brought me to her cubicle. She explained every step of the way, helped me understand my deductions and really just brought me to a better understanding of how the whole process works. Worked with me and was able to assist me with retrieving my information for a direct deposit transfer, as i did not have a check with me. Quick, painless, and even a good laugh... On the receipt it Cleary states: after 5 days following completion of services, all purchases are final. I went in on a Thursday, went back Saturday because they were closed on Friday. They told me on Saturday that my purchase was final and non refundable. It does not state that anywhere. I didn't sign anything stating that either. They are scam artists in my opinion, that do not do anything to even try to meet the satisfaction of the customer. They say, you're guaranteed or your money back! That is a crock of shit! Rude ass Roger Powell is the preparer who helped me. He gave me a number to the district manager and I was told, "if no one answers, leave a message. There is no recorded voicemail. I couldn't leave a message if I wanted too! I don't even think the number is correct. He probably gave me some fake number just to get me out the office. I will be contacting customer service and corporate. I used to work at H&R Block. When ppl are unhappy we would issue a refund for unsatisfactory service. I won't be going to them again! That is one of the main reason for their decline in customers. read more
