We had them remove two trees in our backyard in early November... Their quote was several thousand dollars less than other companies. From cutting down, to stump grinding, to clean-up, everything went great!! This is the second time I've used their company. Highly recommend, they are so quick and scheduling was very easy. I didn't bother getting another quote because I knew Harvey would give the most reasonable price, for great work with all the proper equipment. They took caution with their vehicles/equipment around power lines which was greatly appreciated. I had no damage to anything, and the tree was HUGE. This is the second time they've come over to cut trees. I can't say enough good about them! They cut a HUGE oak tree down, and ground the stump plus did all the preliminary work to protect my yard. They have all of the equipment for the job. I didn't even get another estimate because I know they're the best in town and they're reasonably priced. When a storm hits, tree cutters can be tied up for weeks. This can be problematic if you have scheduled maintenance tree work to be done. HA Irish is no different in that way. That said, on Saturday 4/20/19, we had a monster storm hit our area. One tree fell on our house. Another tree was dangling, ready to fall anytime. We were without power for 3 days. We placed a call to HA Irish. They showed up that same day with their survey crew. When HA Irish surveyed the tree that was ready to fall, they scheduled their crew for their first job Monday morning. They showed up and got the job done before further damage could occur to our (or our neighbor's) property. We had a second tree fall about a week later. Since this tree had already fallen and (thankfully) caused no damage, it was some time before HA Irish got around to clearing it. In both cases, HA Irish did a marvelous job of cleaning up our yard after doing their work. Their prices were reasonable and they furnished invoices which allowed our insurance company to pay our claim (on the first trees that fell 4/20... not the 2nd one which fell a week later. The 2nd one caused no property damage.) HA Irish is well known around our neighborhood. They do some of the tougher jobs. I don't know that any good tree service can get 5 stars because it's so difficult to get them to show on schedule when you have routine maintenance. The next big storm is always in the way. It's hazardous, dirty, dangerous work. That said, HA Irish is about as good as we've found for reliable, reputable tree service. read more

Harvey gave us a quote to remove a dangerous and dying oak tree at the end of our driveway, on our property line with our neighbor. We were pleased, accepted, and put on the schedule for a Saturday appointment. They never showed. We called when they were 30 minutes late, no one answered. We left messages. This was two weeks ago. After several calls to the office and to Harvey personally, nothing has transpired. No calls back, no rescheduling, no apology. Silence. Needless to say, this is extremely unprofessional and rude. We cannot recommend them, nor can we assume that this will not happen to another customer. Buyer beware. read more

Purchased 8 cord of firewood and was delivered 6. Two other friends received the same shortage. This happened 8 months ago, and after multiple promises to deliver wood or reimburse me, Harvey refuses to answer his phone. Incredibly shady, at best. We called for an estimate on a tree removal on a Sunday after a storm. We were given an acceptable estimate and scheduled in for late Monday or first thing Tuesday. I left a message on the owner, Harvey's, cell phone Monday afyernoon with a simple question. No return call, so I call the office at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning with the same question. I was told it would be forwarded to Harvey. No call back and no show by 4 p.m. Tuesday, so I called in to the office. No apologies, no recognition of being ignored. HA Irish arrived 90+ minutes before scheduled appointment and finished before that appointment time as well. Therefore no one was home to make the payment. Homeowner offered to mail payment when company called later that afternoon, but that was unacceptable. Credit card payment was made over the phone, incurring an additional 4% fee. Had company arrived as scheduled or called homeowner to notify of earlier arrival and completion, homeowner would have been available to make payment (homeowner arrived at work site at scheduled appointment time to find job already completed) and extra fees would not have been necessary. Truck ran over brush/bushes to access one tree, and if this was to avoid septic field, again, a simple phone call could have prevented the destruction of landscaping. Neighbor reported workers walking along their driveway and through their yard despite its distance from work being done and homeowner's property being accessible to all workers. There was no reason to be in neighbor's yard. Mountain Dew cans/bottles were left sitting on our deck. Job itself was done well as was clean-up of area (minus cans/bottles). Original price was fair, although higher of the two estimates received. HA Irish was chosen because of scheduling and response time. Would not use again. read more

The 3/8/17 wind storm took down our 50 foot tall pine. Harvey A. Irish gave us the lowest quote we received from 5 five different tree services. They came quickly and their workers were very courteous and friendly. They took great care not to damage our lawn. Their work was thorough and professional and the cleanup was spotless. We used H A Irish last week to remove 5 80 foot pine trees from our backyard. They gave us a quote last fall and still honored it this spring. Their crew showed up and in half a day removed the trees and cleaned up after themselves. They did a fantastic job. They let my four-year-old son help them clean up branches after they put their heavy equipment away. My son was in heaven. We had a great experience all around with this company. Russell was the gentleman that quoted our job. I would strongly recommend them for any trees you need removed. They were probably 20% to 30% less expensive then the other companies we got quotes from. We got quotes from probably 15 different tree removal companies. (Yes my husband wanted to kill me every time a new tree removal service person showed up to give us a quote!!) read more

This past winter HA Irish Tree Service did tree work at my home to my satisfaction and I paid in full day of the work. When they did the job they had to drive over the lawn which was covered with snow. Upon the melting of the snow there were huge tire marks to the tune of 20 feet long ruts along my grass. I have called the office a minimum of 5 times over the last 3 weeks and I spoke with Lisa and Wendy. They assured me that they have left a note for Harvey Irish. I have yet to hear from him one way or another regarding the matter. Needless to say I am very disappointed with the lack of courtesy that has been extended to me. In ignoring my situation. I expected more from this company. Due to their lack of follow up to my calls I do not recommend this company. read more

My husband and I needed to get 15 very large trees removed around our house, for safety purposes and to let more light in since we live in the woods. I shopped around and got quotes from 6 different companies around the Grand Rapids area. H.A. Irish Tree Service came in THOUSANDS of dollars less and a day verses a week than everyone else!!! It really does pay to do your homework and shop around. Russ Irish came out, walked the property and talked with me about what we wanted, gave me a set price and stuck with it. He was here on a Friday to look at the job and came back on Monday and 6 hours later the job was done and the place was cleaned up!! It was amazing to see how 4 guys and 6 hours later the job was done. All four guys were very nice and very professional. I still can't believe how great of a job they did - WOW. I know that for ANY future tree work we need I'll be calling them! read more

We called on 6/9/14 to set an appointment to have four trees removed and trimming done on two others. We were told the estimator would contact us within the next few days. We called again on 6/16/14 and requested again to have the estimator call us. At that point the lady on the phone set up an appointment for him to come out on 7/8/14 at 10AM. When I asked if there was any way to have someone here earlier than 3 weeks out since we were very concerned about a large dead branch overhanging our bedroom she stated he was too busy because so many people call for estimates but don't carry through on having the work done. I told her we were referred by our former tree guy who has since retired and would probably have them do the work so she said they would try to come out earlier if possible. Three weeks later - storm comes through the area day before our appointment so on 7/8/14 at 11:20am I call to ask if the estimator will still be coming that day since he missed the 10am appointment. Was told he would not be coming and it might benefit us to call another tree service to try to get someone here sooner. My husband stops by their office to get the phone number of the estimator and complained about being dropped like that after already waiting a month. He states he could complain to the BBB and was told we can't complain to BBB because they haven't actually done any business with us. (Nice) He called the estimator, Russ (who was very nice on the phone) said if we didn't mind getting up early he could be here between 7 & 8am tomorrow morning. At 8:30 the next morning I get a call from Harvey Irish, the owner, to tell me they were not coming and would NEVER be coming so we should call another tree service. He said with the storm they were now booked out 5 weeks and those people took priority. I totally understood the emergency nature of the storm victims but feel the shabby treatment we received was completely uncalled for. It started with waiting 1-1/2 weeks to get an appointment set up, waiting 3 weeks for the estimator appointment and then the no call / no show from the office when they knew he wasn't going to be coming. The call from the owner was just the icing on the cake. Their website states "Need a tree removed? Embrace the luck of H.A. Irish by receiving our quick and efficient tree removal services". I think they need to change their advertising. read more
