The Rooftop Pool! Breathtaking views! November 2025.
Michele D.

This somewhat-new hotel was recently awarded a Michelin Key. If you don't know what that is yet, it's new and you'll need to look it up. ANYTHING that has Michelin is a highest esteemed award, global known. This is going to be an epic review, so hang in there and let's go.... When I first arrived at this interesting building, I didn't know what to expect. I had high hopes and expectations on my stay. I stayed at the Hotel Swexan, last month for 3 nights. Front desk at check-in was pleasant and smooth, no issues there. We were immediately given our room, upon checking in at 11am. The lobby is a bit on the smallish side, but had a charming fireplace. Very immaculate and modern surroundings. Nice and classic, is my take. You'll need your room key to get to any floor in the hotel. I'm impressed with their gym on the 8th floor, extraordinary views, very spacious and luxurious, with chilled water and green apples, with towels at the tidy desk. Well maintained equipment and very clean all around. Highly recommend, if you're a gym rat! Please see my reviews on each restaurant at the Hotel Swexan. Onto my room.... My room 1504, was clean and smelled like fresh linens. What a minibar!! Snacks, water, alcoholic beverages at a hefty price. But very nice. The bed was super comfortable with excellent AC, and the bathroom is divine!!! Huge walk-in shower that's rainfall magnificent. Excellent water pressure, and an area of privacy in the toilet area. Nice touch on the Le Labo toiletries. My only irk..... too many chairs in my room. I had housekeeping remove one! Very cramped with too many chairs. The very dark hallways are supposed to be mood lighting, but it's more hard to see where you're going. AVOID: In-Room dining.... Most I've dealt with were not pleasant, and your order will arrive in 2 hours or not at all. Very frustrating. My favorite..... the rooftop bar, pool, and lounge chairs. The drinks are well worth it! Blended to perfection! The smallish pool was refreshing, but the breathtaking atmosphere and views were just as pleasing to the eye, and epic at nighttime. Go at nighttime, and you'll see why!!! During my 3-days stay, I've had issues with certain staff members. Some were friendly and helpful and some gave attitude. And this is why this review is given 4 stars! I ask you ALL Yelpers this.... When you do stay at The Hotel Swexan, or have stayed here already, do you think this place is Michelin Key worthy??? Ask yourself that question. Would I return??? Maybe or maybe not. I've stayed at some very impressive hotels in my life, and I'm blessed. I have some serious high expectations, what I look for, etc. My overall experience, nice hotel. But for the price point, and what I went through getting hassled by certain staff members, I expected better. And there's my experience......

THE BIG: Located in downtown Dallas. This one michelin key hotel deservedly portrays luxury with its service, finishes, and ambiance. Valet parking is available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I stayed here for a night while attending a Dallas Stars game. The stadium was closeby and only took 8 minutes walking. Entrance sleek and there's five restaurants/bars in the hotel. I only went to one (Leonie's) and it was beautiful. It was on the top floor with views of downtown Dallas. There's also a michelin recommended steakhouse called Stillwell's that is on my list to try when I come back. Also for the afternoon tea type folks, there is the option of having that service given. As for the rooms, I got a suite upgrade and boy was it AWESOME. The room had big tall rooms with windows that showcased the downtown Dallas skyline. The gym was nice and modern. The bathrooms are awkwardly located in the middle of the gym, however it does have a steam room and a sauna located inside. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, this was a great stay with top notch service and amenities. I'll definitely be back when I stay in downtown Dallas.

I decided to do a solo staycation for my 26th birthday and it was the best thing ever! My room was upgraded so I had a beautiful view of uptown Dallas. I was on the 17th floor and got a corner room! I was messaging a worker there on how I wanted my room to be decorated for my birthday and my expectations were met! This hotel is so accommodating, I forgot my curling iron so I called and asked if they have one which they did and they also gave me a straightener! The room comes with a white noise and a speaker! The speaker honestly elevated this experience for me just bc music is a serotonin boost! All in all i recommend anyone and everyone to come here fancy occasion or not! I really recommend people to come for staycations and just relax the second day I stayed I didn't do anything but just admire the beautiful view from my room I'm so blessed to have stayed here and I thank everyone who helped me during my stay I appreciate you guys so much!

Overall no complaints, staff is very friendly and helpful. Easy to locate, valet parking and also a parking garage directly beside the location. There is a small lounge area where they serve drinks not far from where you enter.

Hotel Swexan is excellent. My work booked this for our team. I heard nothing but praises from them and I agree. This was only a few blocks from our office. Rooms were modern and spacious. Everything felt new as they opened about two years ago. They serve food and drinks by the rooftop pool if you have a room key. There's also a bunch of restaurants downstairs. Great job everyone at Hotel Swexan.

This is such a nice hotel. From the moment you arrive, the staff is kind and attentive. The check-in process was easy, and it didn't take long. Elevators work with room keys. From the minute you walk in, it smells nice. The elevators and room floors are clean. The room isn't huge, but it's well-laid out with a small seating area upon entry. There's a bar area with great selections and snacks, as well as a coffee area directly behind it, next to the closet. There's a desk with a chair that's big enough for working, and two additional chairs in front with enough space. A beautiful view of the outside is available from both sides of the room, thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows. There is also a fantastic view from the bathroom, located by the tub. And let me tell you the BED! It's so comfortable, which is a first for me. Usually, the beds in most hotels aren't great, but this bed and pillows are exceptional. There are also plugs and a USB outlet next to the bed on the nightstand, and the temperature at night was also good and remained at the selected setting. Now let me tell you about this bathroom. Everything you needed to wash your hands, hair, body, and shower cap, as well as makeup remover wipes, Q-tips, and lotion, was included, along with a bar of soap for hand washing. And they were all Le Labo, and it smells great after you shower. And the housekeeping staff was also very friendly. The note and the chocolate at night were a nice touch. I didn't get to try any amenities because it was a quick turnaround trip, but it's definitely a must if you can splurge. It's also within walking minutes to the American Airlines Center and other restaurants. Very convenient

Had a great experience here. Arnold, the valet guy even gave me a ride to Ross to get some swim gear. Super nice guy. The steakhouse was amazing. We weren't that hungry, but really enjoyed multiple apps..

Day one and, so far, Hotel Swexan is a pure delight. The staff is warm, friendly and professional. The rooms are gorgeous and well appointed - Frette linens, Le Labo toiletries, clever mini bar, extra pillows and new magazines. The high ceilings make the room feel spacious. We had cocktails at the pool bar which is lovely. Server Chris was cheerful and makes a terrific margarita. Very happy with our experience so far!

Happy Fourth of July long weekend We were looking for a family friendly, world class, wellness staycation and settled for this boutique, hole in the wall, like-new, hidden gem. What is this place doing in Dallas?! lol. The hotel construction is beautiful, the amenities are design and function driven, and the in hotel dining options alone are well worth the visit as hotel guests. We love that the Swexan supports people and families who eat together. In terms of this being a design destination, there is supposedly some Japanese and Swedish influences here also, but I had a hard time pointing anything out specifically. There were also a few hiccups with the hotel service after we checked in. Namely the in-room phone wasn't functioning properly and some of the staff don't seem that happy to be here (bummer). But we're having a great time with the best in-room dining and are jazzed to check out historic Neimans and Stanley Korshak. The wellness options are also a little old fashioned - the wet and dry saunas are clean and the roof top pool is a major plus in the summer heat, but there isn't a full service, in-house spa a la the Ritz or Crescent Court. What if you guys invested in a hyperbaric oxygen wellness chamber? Just a modern wellness thought. Aside from these very old-fashioned, historic Texas wellness compromises, we are loving our stay here and feel transported to a faraway land without having to suffer the TSA pat-downs, flight delays, and terrible airline seating we've been beaten into accepting as unavoidable in family travel.

Even if you are only stopping by for coffee/cocoa, this space is so warm and inviting. The Swexan's hot cocoa was an entire experience! Wow!!!

Stayed here and can honestly say the price point isn't really worth it, given the attitudes of the front desk staff and the customer service in general (not all but some). Also, the entrance to this hotel is very underwhelming to say the least. There were multiple issues with our room keys, which in my opinion is completely unacceptable...given we were only there for one night. However, the bathroom is marvelous and they do put out Le Labo toiletries. The view from my room (facing the Rolex building) was especially enjoyable at night. The rooms are rather small. The macaroon delivery to the room was a nice touch. The pool is really nice too and the restaurant 'Leonie's' on the rooftop right at the edge of the pool was pretty good too. The spot light was on my affogato which was amazing. The steak, potatoes and eggs were pretty good too. My friend had the short rib, he said it was okay, but would rather the short rib meat be whole instead of shredded

Although I was eligible for a room upgrade, it wasn't ready so I took a regular king, which was fine. I appreciated the ability to get in prior to noon as I was headed to the game. I didn't spend much time at the hotel but the service, lobby and room met my picky expectations . The king room was big enough for 2 adults along with my 70 pound boxer and small dog. My only complaint is no grass nearby. It is downtown so I get it but a small patch would be helpful. There is a pet area next door but it's dirt and let's just say my dogs need grass ‍ they aren't accustomed to using the bathroom in dirt so apparently they thought they were doing something wrong ‍. I fibbed I have a second complaint, the restaurant service was extremely slow and the silverware was gross I had to get multiple switchouts. Our event coordinator had already been in contact with each hotel's sales team regarding room blocks, but my fiancé and I wanted to personally see the properties before recommending them to 30-40 hotel room blocks. Although we arrived after sales office hours, Liz at the front desk was exceptionally kind. She walked us through the restaurants commonly used for private events, explained the renovation timeline, and invited us to take our time exploring before returning to the front desk to view a standard guest room. Unfortunately, our experience changed when another employee, who later identified himself as Clayton, a manager, stepped in. It appeared he had been listening to our conversation but had not introduced himself. He abruptly informed us that we would not be able to view a room. We explained that our event coordinator was already working with the sales manager regarding room blocks and pricing, and that we were simply trying to ensure we felt confident recommending the hotel to our family and friends. Despite understanding the situation, he remained unwilling to accommodate the request. His only suggestion was that we purchase a room if we wanted to see one. For us, this interaction spoke volumes. Hospitality isn't just about beautiful rooms--it's about making potential guests feel welcomed and valued. If this was the experience we received as prospective clients considering multiple wedding events and dozens of room nights, it gave us pause about what our guests might experience. As a result, we will likely to move our room block, welcome dinner, Saturday event, and Sunday brunch where we're met with warmth, flexibility, and genuine hospitality from the moment we arrive. The Joule is undeniably a beautiful property, but customer service plays a major role in our decision-making. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling that our business was neither appreciated nor wanted.

If you want to commemorate Tina Turner, nothing beats it. Lorenzo Hotel, let's stay together. The creative, quirky, and poetic 237-room boutique is known for being an eclectic and vibrant art gallery with a different theme for each floor. Floor 1 is a mix-up with Shakespeare, Alice in Wonderland, Poe, and Einstein. Floor 3 is Literature & Journalism (if you like old printing presses this may be your type). Floor 4 is the Music Floor (vintage audio). Floor 5 is Mid-Century Modern (1960s Dallas history). Floor 6 is "Dali" or Surrealism Floor. Floor 8 is Botanical & Nature (floral pops of color). Floor 12: Skyline / Skye Ballroom event level with massive floor-to-ceiling windows. We stayed in Floor 7, which is "Literary Noir" (drama and mystery). We had a broken, blinking Neon sign, a wobbly ceiling fan, broken blinds, matchbooks full of phone numbers, an unfinished manuscript, an ashtray full of cigarettes, and a dead body in the tub. Not really. But we did have a giant seven foot "desk lamp", a paintbrush and frame above our bed, and and a carpet made from Hamlet quotes in Room 704. Dining: Hamilton's is the main on-site restaurant and bar, with a host or hostess in the lobby smiling at us when we walked in. Taco Enzo and Kolache Korner are in the refurbished shipping containers in the massive parking lot. The lobby store is small and not cheap but it beats a vending machine, especially if you want an ice cream sandwich or fingernail clippers. The "South Beach" pool is saltwater, so it's softer on the skin, eyes, and hair and avoids red eyes, green hair, and pool smell. Location: Though the Cedars district is the industrial historic heart of the Dallas arts scene, it's a bit gritty and has *freeway noise*, with gentrification friction, being a patchwork of high-end luxury lofts sitting right next to dilapidated industrial warehouses, making it feel half vibrant but half abandoned. The Walkability Score is 73, thanks to massive railroad tracks, the I-30, current construction, and inconsistent sidewalks. Be warned this isn't a tree-lined, window-shopping destination like Uptown or Bishop. Finding food, a drink, and even a movie will be much easier than groceries or a pharmacy (though drugs is a different story). The pool was great during the summer, it's small but has many chairs and even cabanas that are great for lounging in. The onsite restaurant for breakfast was delicious! The food was really good - probably the best part of the entire hotel - and the service at the restaurant was beyond friendly and accommodating. The parking is $20 a night which is a crazy price, but there were always plenty of spaces. There is a lot of construction next door, so we could hear that going on during the day and proved for a quite terrible view from our hotel room - completely obstructed by a tree with the bits you can see through being just trucks. One evening our toddler pulled the plug for the lamp that is on the night stand and it pulled the entire outlet out which created a hot flash of fire and smoke - then live wires were exposed - this is crazy dangerous and very disturbing that a very small child was in such danger from merely unplugging something. We went down to the desk and they immediately said they'd send an engineer up and asked if we would like to change rooms. We said we'd see what the engineer said, he came up about 5 mins later and said everything needed to be replaced so I said to him we have to switch rooms as it was completely dangerous for anyone to be in the room with live wiring exposed. A minute or two after the engineer left the front desk called our room and told us to come downstairs to change rooms. We packed up, trucked everything downstairs and they switched our rooms to the room next door (which it would've been nice if they would have offered to help move our luggage or at least tell us to just move it one room over, not bring it all downstairs). The front desk was actually really passive and cold - I found the situation quite shocking and dangerous and they had basically nothing to say about it. I thought it would've been nice if they had said something to apologize for the inconvenience, to offer something in return. It is completely their fault for having faulty electrical equipment in their room and they just wanted us to move rooms and go away - I was just happy to move the room and not be near them since they were such bad vibes - I think other people would've felt disrespected by their behavior. Thanks for the food, won't be back.

Beautiful hotel, disappointing service…read more I stayed here Monday night for a work trip, and while the property is absolutely stunning -- modern, clean, and beautifully designed -- the service didn't match the setting. When I checked in early, my room was ready (a nice surprise) and the front desk agent was friendly. We had three rooms under my boss's name, and mine had my name attached as a secondary guest. The agent told me I had a $30 food & beverage credit because my boss is a Gold member. I'm actually a Diamond member (gifted through my sister, who stays with Hilton nearly 200 nights a year), so I'm familiar with the perks and thought $30 seemed high. I asked twice to confirm, and she reassured me it was correct -- usable in the market or minibar, and could be split between purchases. I hadn't eaten lunch yet, so I grabbed a salami-and-cheese snack ($12) and popcorn ($4) from the market. Later that evening, I tried ordering room service around 9:30 PM, but no one answered. The front desk said the restaurant was busy and would call me back -- they never did. After waiting 15 minutes, I went back to the market for another snack and a soda ($16 total). That put me around $32 total, which was fine since it was only $2 over the supposed $30 credit. The next morning, housekeeping knocked on my door around 8:45 AM asking to clean -- despite checkout being at noon. Not a big deal, but disruptive and unnecessary that early. Breakfast also missed the mark. We were seated quickly and given water, but it took 14 minutes before anyone took our order. It was moderately busy, not packed. When the food arrived, a manager dropped it off. We asked for salt, pepper, and preserves -- she returned with preserves, and when reminded about the S&P, snapped, "It's on the complete other side of the restaurant." Oddly defensive. Also, why isn't salt and pepper on the tables? Breakfast for two (just avocado toast) took over an hour. At checkout, more issues. I noticed a $35 restaurant charge that wasn't mine. The front desk said the restaurant only verifies last names, not room numbers -- a huge oversight. I asked them to move the charge to one of the other rooms in our group. Then I saw I'd been billed for three of the salami-and-cheese snacks even though I'd only bought two. The agent agreed and removed a $24 charge, but when she reprinted my folio, my "$30 credit" only applied as $4.33 and $10.67 -- totaling just $15, despite confirming it three times the day before. My Uber had arrived, so I had to let it go. Later that day, I realized I'd left my white sweatshirt on the bed. I called right away; the first front desk associate was kind, took my info, and said he'd check with housekeeping and call me back. No one ever did. The next day, I called back to check in and another associate immediately got short with me, saying I "should've filled out the online form." I explained no one mentioned that before. He rattled off the website quickly, then ended the call. I googled the Hilton Lost & Found site myself, found the link, and tried to submit the form -- but it immediately asked for a "client identification number," which I had no idea how to obtain. At that point, I gave up and counted the sweatshirt as a loss. The process was confusing and unhelpful from start to finish. I worked for Four Seasons for years, so I know what good service looks like -- and none of these issues are difficult to fix. Each one was avoidable: poor communication, incorrect charges, lack of follow-through, and dismissive interactions. It's a shame because the hotel itself is gorgeous, but the guest experience simply doesn't meet the standard the property deserves.

The room was immaculate, the Uptown location is excellent, and dinner at Fearing's was as good as its reputation. The people I met in person were the real highlight. Amar at the front desk, and Luis and EunSeo in the Club Lounge, were warm, attentive, and genuinely memorable. If my review were based on the stay alone, it would be five stars without hesitation. The reason it is not is what happened after checkout. I raised a question about my STARS credit at the desk and was told everything was fine, though no one could actually show me the line items. When my folio arrived, I replied to the accounting email exactly as invited. I heard nothing. I followed up a second time, then a third. Silence. It took a fourth email, sent directly to a general manager, before anyone responded at all, and the response contained a billing error that had charged one of my credits to another guest's bar tab. I only caught it because I reconciled the receipts myself. It then took a fifth email, with a timeline and check numbers, to get it corrected. To the accounting manager's credit, once he understood the problem he fixed it promptly and refunded the charge. But by then I had spent two weeks proving something that should have taken them one look at the account. For most hotels, this is an ordinary service lapse. For a property that markets itself on owning and resolving guest problems immediately, it is a miss on the very thing that justifies the premium. The stay made me feel like a valued guest. The weeks after made me feel like a ticket number. I will likely give the property another chance, because the in-person team earned that. But if you stay here, keep your receipts and check your folio carefully, because the follow-through may not.
