If I had known we wouldn't be receiving the photo, I would've just taken it myself. My daughter has no group photo with all her friends on her 5th birthday. I also had inquired about the gift they mentioned in their package that the celebrant receives and the lady over the phone had no idea about it and dismissed it as if it wasn't a deliverable and we're just supposed to shrug it off. Very strange place…read more We were looking for a gymnastics place since my daughter expressed interest in returning to a gymnastics class now that things are open again. The closest ones to us are Bayshore Elite and this place, and Bayshore Elite had no spots for her age. My husband and I visited this place in person since we happened to be in San Carlos for shopping to understand their classes / signup process better, since the website didn't have a schedule of when the classes would be (of course, if the days of the week / time doesn't work for us, we can stop considering it). The facility is in downtown SC. They don't seem to let people in through the actual storefront address, so you go through this somewhat creepy alley attached to either a hotel or apartment complex and end up at their back entrance which is apparently where parents drop their kids off. I was appalled - the area is gated by a chain link fence and a badly maintained tarp, and looked like a garbage dump that I felt very leery about leaving my child at. I asked the adults in charge (coaches I guess?) who I could speak to about classes and they directed me to a grumpy woman who was very standoffish and flat out rude. She insisted that we had to sign their waiver before we could take a look at the facility (for general cleanliness, ventilation, upkeep), which was beyond odd since we were not getting on the equipment or trialing a class. Ok - I then requested a schedule so I could see if their classes even work for us. I don't know if she assumed we were suspicious people because we didn't have our child with us at the moment, but she then told us to go to the front of the building to get let in. Then, while we stood in front of the building as directed, she stood at the front desk not doing anything and proceeded to ignore us for over 10 minutes. I understand the concern for safety of children, but as a business owner, she could have also answered our question about class scheduling and with COVID still a concern, I definitely want to make sure any facility doing close contact sports is clean and has decent air quality - even before my child comes here for any evaluation. In fact, I'm curious what they were hiding by not letting us see the facility in person. Well, only because pickings are slim in the Bay Area for any child activity spots, and worse since COVID, I get home, get on their website, and grudgingly complete their waiver which asked for tons of info that I wasn't dying to give out if I didn't know whether I wanted to even engage further with this place. We didn't hear back beyond that, after they collected all our info. Hell, I also filled out the evaluation form to see if I could get her evaluated and again, didn't hear back. Anyways, rude staff, bad condition and SMALL facility, and I honestly wish the peninsula had better options closer to home.

The coaches here are into child development and so good at balancing fun and discipline. They know when to laugh with the kids and when to be like, "Alright, time to nail those flamingo trots on that beam." The atmosphere is warm and supportive. They make the kids feel good about progress. My kid didn't stick the cartwheel at first, but they were so hyped about his progress it got him trying unfazed. Coach Lisa, the owner, is amazing with my younger one. She keeps him pumped, challenged, and giggling. Plus, the place is surprisingly clean for a kids gym. We love our experience at Rally, knowing our kids are always having a blast and developing real skills that go beyond the mat.

My daughter and her friends had a great time tumbling, climbing, swinging, and eating cupcakes and pizza. If you want fun, energetic, and patient staff who make sure the kids are having fun while learning something, this is the place. The staff are well trained to enthusiastically greet and remember every child, so the kids feel seen and important. The classes are usually pretty large and noisy, so sometimes it seems like they're herding cats. They positively redirect children when they get distracted or become disruptive. However, if kids are doing anything dangerous or being too disruptive, parents/caregivers are asked to intervene. This place has just the right balance of letting kids be kids, learning classroom skills (listening, observing, waiting in line, taking turns, trying new things), and learning beginning gymnastics skills. If you are trying to develop a future Olympian at a place with strict teachers expecting perfection, this is not the place. If you are looking for a fun place where your child will feel welcome and can learn classroom and gross motor skills, this is the place!

No frills gym, great foundation for future athleticism…read more My daughter's been going here for a couple months and I'm pretty happy with how it's going, and she enjoys it a lot more than other classes she's done. Pros: Huge facility. Tots are separated from older kids who are obviously training for serious competition. Kids get exposure to using all types of equipment. Teacher is structured and has good control of a very wiggly group. More than one tot class runs concurrently and all of them are orderly which is absolutely key for safety. The little kids are in a separate room from the main gym but still occasionally go into the big gym for short use of big kid equipment. For those with older girls, they are strict against taking pics in the facility overall and I appreciate that. Ventilation is decent. Price is average for activities in the bay but worth it for the amount of learning packed into 45 minutes. Cons: Not gonna lie- it's a dated facility and smells like a gym sock. It's either a converted warehouse or industrial garage so it's either cold or hot. This is a real-ass gym, not a cutesy fun house. Only the little kid annex has like cute murals. I would not recommend it as a party venue unless they only use the little kid part, but I've not attended any parties held here. No auto pay for monthly bills, it seems. Parking is tough - their own lot is small and street side can be challenging due to pump it up being across the street.

At the other places I've been (not naming names, as I'm sure they're fine at what they specialize in), the instructors will show you how to do a move and then shrug if you can't do it. Here, they'll show adjustments or a previous progression and help you figure out how to do a move with patience and encouragement, and they won't leave you adrift feeling like you can't do something and not know why. I can't recommend Ascend highly enough!
