She took her time, was honest with me, and cared more about the health of my hair than making money or rushing the process. That kind of integrity is rare. I'll show the conversation and pictures to follow. So she decided to quit me as a loyal cash paying customer accusing me of things I didn't do. She'd been trying to quit me for some time. But I didn't catch on until my hair went purple. Kind of hard to tell on the first picture. But plenty of people we astonished. What an embarrassment.

Unfortunately, what I would NOT recommend is coming to get a balayage treatment done. I have never dyed my hair in the past and decided to do something different for a change. Having coming from Manhattan, I was intent on trying something different for $200 as opposed to $500. I figured with balayag being a very trendy style right now, the stylist had to have a ton of practice. After all, It is pretty hard to mess up -- especially when I show you a picture before hand. When I came in, I was completely brunette. And when I left I did not have a balayage (where my brown hair would gradually turn into blonde) but on the contrary, I was completely blonde with dark roots. Really not at all like a balayage. In fairness, my hair is extremely long. And thick. The appointment itself took 3 hours. I feel that the error came from both lack of experience and also management of time. We ran 30 minutes over into the next client's appointment (poor thing) and I felt like it was a rushed job. She didn't end up actually styling my hair because she ran out of time. I suppose a little of this is on me because I should have ensured she REALLY LOOKED at the picture. I was like here's the picture. She very quickly relied "oh I totally got it! I can do that" This was several months back and the reason I write about it now is because I now am having to pay almost $500 for a color correcting and CORRECT balayage. Moral of the Story: salon dacota is great. Just not for balayage. If you are wanting to do that, splurge and go somewhere that specializes otherwise you may end up paying more. Hope this is helpful!

When I set the appt I asked for Taryn as that was who I was recommended to. She is a curly specialist and WOW was she knowledgeable. Overall my experience with her was top notch. Taryn gave me an overview of what would happen during the appointing and has a big focus on client education. She walked me through every step and every product. Note: I am sensitive to scents due to having migraines and she was so respectful of this. Taryn had me smell the hairbath and conditioner to make sure it was not too strong before we even started. Taryn told me about the products and how and why you use them including the order and what they do for you. She educated me on how to get your curls looking your best.
