I found Guy the Painter on Yelp when I put out a proposal request for repainting my house; upgrading the lovely basic builder paint to get it painted where I can take a magic eraser to marks rather than having to repaint over the marks. From what I understood, I needed to get a specific type of paint and asking for that in my proposal, and also what I wanted to be able to do after having it painted. About 15 min after submitting my proposal, I got a call from Jennifer, letting me know to please even if I had not gone with them to let anyone quote me for that and to indicate a different paint type. Well, like any females, we got to just chatting for 30 min. Guy and Jennifer then came over and walked the house and of course I got on how frustrating the builder has been and what they hadn't done and also what my amazing puppy has also destroyed. Not only were they able to propose just painting, they were also able to price out helping me with some one off additions. After getting a couple of other proposals, comparing them and deciding we moved forward with Guy and Jennifer. Throughout the entire process, they were transparent and communicative. The team was efficient and very nice. Everyday they came in, and at the end of the day they would organize and put things together in a corner for the next day. They respected that I was working from home, and that was in and out of meetings. They allowed me to work in my office until it was the last day and they needed to get the office completed. We hired Guy to paint the interior of our new home and install baseboard throughout the house and he did a great job! Initially, he walked though the house with us and gave us an itemized quote for his work and we went ahead and decided to hire him. Guy and his wife Jennifer are good communicators, they're thorough in their work, and they even tackled some projects for us that popped up along the way - like installing a metal door frame, mud work along an area of our wall that had rotted out, and adding trim around a few doors. Guy and Jennifer have an easy going personality and we enjoyed their company and felt comfortable with them at our home. One of the most important things to me is communication, and it was super easy to communicate with Jennifer! She was extremely responsive and detailed in answering any questions I had along the way. Guy and his team painted several of my interior rooms on my house to prepare it for renting out. Guy and Jennifer did a great job on my project, which was to paint 3 walls and then put up a faux brick accent wall/paint/distress for shabby chic look. They did a solid job - great attention to detail - beautiful clean-up at the end of each day. I so appreciated that they were willing to go to Floor and Decor and pick up the pre-paid brick order. Floor and Decor was going to charge me $100 delivery fee. More accurate to give 4.5 stars because Jennifer first told me over the phone that the job would take 1 day -- then after they figured out that the faux brick would require mortar, Jennifer said the job would last 3 days. In the end, it took 9 days total. Slight inconvenience, but in the end was well worth it. I will use them again. As a wonderful bonus, their son Jonathan hired out to do some mall jobs around the house for me while he was on the job site. He washed windows and did some distress work on the painted brick in my kitchen. read more

We hired Guy the Painter to repaint the entire interior of our two story home. I researched painters in Dallas mostly from Yelp and Facebook reviews and decided to get quotes from them and one other business. Guy and his wife Jennifer spent a good amount of time on the first meeting looking at the entirety of the house, room by room, to size up the extent of the work before developing their quote. The other business I contacted was inside for less than five minutes and then requested I email them my floor plans to use to make the quote. The quote I received from Guy was significantly less than the other company. Between the better price and the warmer feeling we got from them, we decided to go with Guy the Painter. The crew consists of just Guy and his wife Jennifer. Both were very professional and also trustworthy, friendly, "normal" people. They got along great with our dogs who always seemed to be putting themselves in the way. If they were ever annoyed, it never showed. They buy all the paint from Home Depot as they have a business account with them which passed on a significant savings to us. They had them color match Sherwin Williams, so there was no problem getting the colors we wanted. We paid for the paint and initial materials up front, and the cost of any additional materials and supplies was added to our original quote. We also added a few projects (see below) during the course of their work, and those costs were added on as well. The entire project took a few weeks, so they had us pay a little each Friday until the job was complete then the remaining balance at the end. We liked this because we knew that they weren't going to take the money up front and abandon the work or slow the progress by doing other jobs at the same time. They are meticulous and perfectionists, which we really appreciated. They had to spend a lot of time in the beginning fixing mistakes that the previous painter had made when it was painted before. We had a strange optical illusion where existing trim and cabinet colors didn't seem to match, and Guy spent hours, if not a day, working to ensure that the coloring was matched perfectly. Another really great thing about them is that they moved all the furniture and paintings and other wall decor themselves. They even disassembled and reassembled beds. At the end of every day, they swept and cleaned and put everything back in its place even if that meant they had to move it again the next day to work around it. Guy does more than just paint. We had him close in a cutout area upstairs that overlooked the living room. The end result was great. He also repaired and replaced baseboard moulding that the dogs had chewed. His attention to detail also shone here as he spent hours visiting different shops trying to exactly match the moulding. He repaired and replaced door trim around a couple of doors, and he also rehung our bedroom door that wouldn't stay open. We were completely satisfied with Guy and Jennifer's work and will definitely use them again in the future. Between their very reasonable price, attention to detail, and trustworthiness, I would highly recommend them for any painting or other home improvement needs. read more

Guy and his team have done several projects in our home. His attention to detail and communication during the different phases has been phenomenal. I will say he is not the cheapest option, but you get what you pay for. I am more than willing to spend more to get the top quality he provides. He has remodeled our kitchen, one bathroom, laid tile in the front part of my house, and probably the most important project he has done was making the door frames wide enough for my wife who is in a wheelchair and to make sure we didn't lose any room in those areas he installed pocket doors. This is the only company I would trust in my home. Everyday before the team left the cleaned up the areas they had worked in and did their best to make it not seem like we were living in a construction area, which is no easy feat when it comes to any major remodeling! I recently bought a condo and hated the paint choices made by the previous owner. I was looking for a painter who could get the job within a narrow time frame. Guy and Jennifer came to the rescue. They gave me a quick estimate at a low price. When I decided to go with them, they gave me a list of materials that was easy to order at the local Sherwin Williams. My two bedroom condo (just walls) was painted quickly and the overall job was very good. Why did I give them 4 stars instead of 5? We had some scheduling issues that were unexpected. Guy and Jennifer painted the entire inside of a rent house for me: ceiling, trim and walls and I am very pleased with the results. The price was very reasonable and you are expected to buy your own paint so no added up-charge there. Also, Guy knows his paint and can recommend what brand/type to meet your needs. There was excellent communication throughout the entire process, and they did the work when they said they were going to do the work and were finished quickly. In addition, the quality of the work was very good with lots of attention to detail. For example, Guy painted all the ugly yellow electrical plugs bright white so they looked brand new and even painted one of the fans blades because they had been written on. They do more than paint though, so consider asking them to do those little odd jobs while they are there. Might be a win win. There is no question the property rented quickly in large part because the paint job made it look brand new. Overall I am very pleased and would use again. read more

I would not recommend this company to anyone who wants there job completed and certainly do not pay this man first . He has just left my home after being paid $5200 to Sheetrock tape bad and texture and paint and install all trim and base . The texture is not done , the wall paint is not done the trim is not done . I now have to hire another crew after paying this man $5200 over the holidays to hunt and party and do other jobs while on mine . All this and the man used all of my own tools and I worked side by side with him trying to finish his job , helping him knowing he was behind . Today I go in and he has a final bill, on the floor everything Gone , except my tools every thing unfinished and a bill . I now have to hire another texture person to try to match this Guy the painters . So if that's the worker you want you found him. Over 12,000 in business I've given him over 3 months . Wow. Thanks. I scheduled a job with Guy the painter for Jan 16. He said he would tell me what time he would show up. I took off work, bought the 2 gallons of paint he requested and told him I was ready and wondered what time he would be at my house. No answer...I asked again hours later, he finally texted back @ 9pm the night before he was due to work at my house. He said he wouldn't make it. I cancelled all my patients for the day, have paint, no painter! Very poor service...I wish I could give negative stars read more

I hired Guy and Jennifer in November 2018. I read through their mostly positive reviews on Yelp, noting that not everyone could be happy and gave the benefit of the doubt when I chose to move forward with Guy and Jennifer. I felt resolved that the number of positive reviews was enough reassurance that I was hiring the right contractor for the job. Guy came to my condo, providing me with what I believed was a very reasonable bid. After providing me with what I believed was a reasonable quote, I hired him on the spot despite the fact that he smelled of alcohol. He explained that he'd just gotten back from a camping trip and felt I couldn't judge him based on something we've all done at one point in our lives. The bid was to paint my entire condo (walls, ceiling, trim, doors) and to close off 1 of the 2 entrances to my bedroom. Since I live out of state and was only visiting for the holiday weekend, I expressed concerns at my physical absence from the job site, but he assured me numerous times he would ensure my ultimate satisfaction. After flying home, I received text updates with photos almost daily. Everything looked great in text messages. I was more excited to see the finished product on my return for Christmas. I flew in on December 18th, making a visit to my condo the number one priority once I got off the plane. Guy and Jennifer were supposed to meet me there to do the final walk through before I sent them the final payment. When I arrived, they weren't there yet. I immediately felt deflated the moment I walked into the condo, noting several splotchy areas on the walls and ceilings. Most of the trim was very light, the texture job not remotely close to the rest of the walls, bags of garbage left behind, and some of the doors weren't painted on the inside. The appearance of grit in the paint told me they painted over dirt/dust on my laundry closet door. I called Jennifer to voice my concerns and Guy picked up. I politely explained the issues I could see. He said it was no problem and they would fix the issues on the 21st. Guy texted me on the 20th saying he's not going to be able to make it because his other job won't be done. The new date was supposed to be on the 26th. No call, no show. I tried reaching them both by call and text with no response. As of today, 1/19/19, I have yet to hear from Guy or Jennifer on either completing the work or giving me a partial refund. It's going to cost me another $1,500 PLUS materials to fix and/or redo what they were hired to do. I would caution anyone considering Guy and Jennifer as their contractor. Guy is a great salesman and I made the unfortunate mistake of believing him. It isn't easy for me to write a negative review, yet my moral compass won't let me not. It's truly unfortunate that they overpromised and underdelivered. I'm hoping that one day they will realize that being dishonest and scamming people isn't the right way to do business, or a way to live. I'm so thankful that I was taught at a young age to be a good person. Not to lie, cheat and steal. I'm also thankful that I have the resources to pay another contractor to finish up the work and continue to pay a mortgage/taxes/HOA dues with no rental income. I want nothing from them at this point and I wish nothing bad on them, but I have no control over Karma. I would be happy knowing that they read this and change their business practices. Sleeping well at night is priceless... In the event you do hire him, I caution you in these areas: Estimate on materials, purchase of additional materials/supplies (which were extremely excessive, and all paid with cash - all items could easily be used for other jobs or returned) and if they get proper permits. Lastly, do NOT pay them completely until you're 100% satisfied. I'm confident they will ghost you as they did to me. read more

I have tried to schedule two different jobs with Guy/Jennifer and have been sorely displeased by their business practice and how they treat potential customers. Both times I had fairly quick communication with them as we discussed my jobs, and then suddenly all communication would stop after I sent them pictures of the space I would like painted. Apparently if the job is not up to whatever standards they have, it is not worth their time to continue communicating with you. So if you want to schedule service from them, be sure that your potential job is good enough to even earn an email back. Very unprofessional. read more

Guy and Jennifer spent a little over a week painting the exterior of my house (all wood, Cape Cod style)... there were several delays due to rain, but the finished product looks fantastic. Be very weary with this painter. He did a terrible job and left many areas undone and the attention to detail was not there. He left a lot of the high spots undone so I had to hire someone to come and paint all the areas he missed. Consistently showed up late and left for long periods of time. Said he was going to show up and then just didn't on at least three occasions. If anyone wants pics of the work he neglected to finish, I have them. Also he offered to do my laminate flooring. The work was terrible. He refused to give me a receipt and later tried to claim the contract wasn't with him. The floor started bulging a few days later after I had paid. It bulged so much so that the entire floor was moving with every step. I had to hire a true professional who charged me $1800 to completely take down and redo all the shoddy workmanship that had been done and in addition I still had to buy new material. I tried to fix this and asked him to simply refund my money for the original price and come check the work. By the way, he never came to check the work himself. The man I hired works for Lumber Liquidators and said it was the worst laminate job he had ever seen. The realtor who arrived basically said I could never sell the house in it's current condition. I spent thousands to fix all of his mistakes and would warn anyone even thinking of hiring this painter to proceed at your own risk. Truly, save your money and hire a professional and don't get stuck as I am hiring attorneys and beginning court proceedings. He actually stated that he did not want me to contact him again concerning the shoddy workmanship or the refund. He basically just took the money and ran. I contacted the police and we have video of how the floor is ready to rip apart at the seams and all the areas where he just didn't finish the work. Don't trust them and trust your gut instinct. Once he arrives, you will get my meaning. Please heed my warning and do not hire this painter. read more

We bought a home in Mesquite that was completely covered with wallpaper...bad 1980's wallpaper! We needed help, but I wanted to find someone who could handle all sorts of tasks - more like a real handyman of all trades. I wanted someone I could trust. I did some research and interviewed Guy and Jennifer and knew right away I had hit gold! I hired them that first day. I knew I could give them the key and leave the house in their hands. Sure, I could have found a big company who have a roster of ever-changing employees, and they could have completed the job more quickly - but I needed someone who would make sure the doors were locked at the end of the day; be certain that they knew what they were doing; AND that they would do a really good job because they take pride in what they do. I received a great estimate - clear and concise - and the results are breathtaking. Now, you throw in the fact that the faulty a/c starting leaking through the ceiling almost immediately and all the other unexpected things that happen when you buy an older home, but Guy and Jennifer calmly dealt with each event. I feel like we won the lottery. I found really nice people I can call on again and again, not just for painting, but for all manner of things, and I get to live in the wonderful house that is light and bright thanks to all their hard work! read more

You never know when they are going to show up. The project took longer than originally planned. They started other rooms before finishing a room. So we had many rooms going on at the same time. Their helper made more mistakes when they were fixing 1st round mistakes. We had to hire an electrician and plumber to verify their work. Too many issues to list.
