So I called for an appointment and was told she could see me on August 18 (today is July 2). I have prescriptions that have to be monitored and maintained, and I also have a very painful issues with my arm. I don't think either can wait for August 18. They are two separate appointments and they won't combine them: one is "to establish care" and the other is an illness visit. Once I see her as a "wellness visit" on August 18, I would be able to "get in quicker" to see her in the future. For now, if I'd like to be seen and monitored by "someone else" who has more availability in their schedule I could do that. Well, I've had a terrible experience with a doctor in Chicago that left me with ongoing medical issues that could have been prevented. So I did my research and selected someone I felt I could trust. I was so very lucky to have that in New Orleans (from where I just moved) and I just wanted that again. I don't really want to see "someone else" that I don't know anything about and waiting 6+ weeks to see a doctor I researched heavily. So while I can't really rate Dr. Boyd herself, this is a warning to those who are looking for a doctor: even though her site says she is accepting new patients, I don't think she really has time for them. Be sure you can wait six weeks before seeing her if you choose her. I get why she's busy -- she's good. But why advertise that you're accepting new patients when you really don't have time for someone who needs you?

Truth be told, I prefer younger, female, Family Docs (as opposed to Internal Medicine) - just as personal preference - but she's absolutely lovely. Kind. Attentive. Concerned. All the things you want in a GP. Oh - and one last thing: At my previous practice, there would be a HUGE wait - I mean, HOURS. (But heaven forbid you be more than 10 minutes late...they would cancel your appointment.) Not so with Dr. Boyd. I never feel rushed, either. She's genuinely a good MD. Seriously.

The possible bad news could require months of rehab and overall Hell! I was seen right away by her and she could sense that I was nervous because when she walked in the stool by the checkup table had me standing on it with a cord around my neck. She's like "Omg what's going on here are you ok?" I was like "oh oh I'm sorry this must be wrong room I'm the electrician just checking the light fixture" Then she says alright so since your here looking at the imaginary light fixture maybe I could look at your imaginary left leg for you?  Yup! She talked me off the ledge and put me at ease. On a serious note, she's extremely intelligent, thorough, informative, helpful, caring. Now even the best of the best are missing at least one of those attributes but not her. Able to quickly secure an appointment and confirmed in advance they accept my insurance…read more Unfortunately, things soured from that point. It has been 2 weeks since contracting poison sumac. Sought treatment because the rash had continued to spread and was now on my face/chin. 1) Tried handing the receptionist my driver's license and insurance card, she refused and handed me a tablet to complete the registration myself. I completed the forms, scanned both documents, then had to type much of the same info in add'l fields. (this is taking self-serve to a whole new level) 2) Returned the tablet to receptionist who indicated they probably could not see me, my insurance is from out of state. I am from out of state, but I have United Healthcare - website says they accept UHC. 3) Decided they could see me and put me in a room. The doctor arrived shortly but only provided a lecture on histamine reactions and offered to print out information on the same. No compassion for how miserable I felt or that the poison sumac had migrated to my face/chin. Questioned whether she was going to do anything and was told it simply needed to run its course. No offer of steroids or a prescription creme to ease the swelling, itchy, and general miserable situation. An aggravating and complete waste of time.

I had an emergency and was hospitalized once for a few days and when I came to, he was right there at my bedside and I didn't even tell anyone about it! The WORST experience in an emergency room. All the front desk clerk did was ask for my phone…read morenumber. That is all. Then he handed me a pad for me to fill out pages of forms and even take photos of my ID and medical cards MYSELF! What is he getting paid to do? What if I was in deep pain? I would have had to do all that myself? In the past the front desk clerk would scan my ids and ask for my info. Poor service! Then, I was taken into the treatment room twice and the second time, I sat there for thirty minutes without anyone checking in on me. Never saw a Doctor and my issue was an immediate emergency as I had an issue which needed immediate attention and could have caused permanent damage to me if not dealt with immediately. Very sad that there is such awful service in an ER.
