I had a terrible experience at another optometrist in San Francisco which cost me a lot of money despite a second try without charge. Two prescriptions and they both gave me terrible headaches. One of my eyes can read up close and the other cannot and the one that can't read up close can see distance but the other eye that can read has poor distance vision. After speaking to a number of other businesses and not finding anyone I felt comfortable with, I decided to come home to Brooklyn and try Eyedrop Optique. Dr. Ancona was immediately warm and welcoming, (the kind of hospitality one finds only in New York City if you know what I mean) and of course I felt comfortable because of his ability to listen and understand the problem. He explained with helpful metaphor why the prescription I had in the glasses were not beneficial, and he gave me a choice of correction because of the differences in prescription in each eye. There were no choices with the other optometrist. Not only did he give me a prescription that doesn't give me headaches, he also had the tint of the lenses matched, which was not typical but something I had spent time perfecting on Affinity Photo. To top off the working prescription, due to COVID, I decided to return to San Francisco sooner before the glasses were ready. I offered paid packaging to have them shipped, but Dr. Ancona insisted he take care of it. They arrived today with a generous supply of satins and some lens cleaning solution. Thank you, Dr. Ancona!

The staff of opticians were amazing, they all tried to help because I have a serious problem making choices and they had lots of options. I'm not sure why so many $$$ are on other reviews, I came out of there spending $500 LESS than I did last year with glasses which fit well and I liked much better. I don't recall ever spending so little, the specialty lenses were extremely affordable. They detected a problem with the current progressive lenses I'm wearing which was a relief as I thought my vision was getting worse! I am assuming they have a system that when they punch in your Social Security number it shows your health coverage, because I NEVER mentioned my primary insurance to them.

I had two previous eye doctors, and well, they are not anymore. In these days and times with what is going on now, nothing will stop Dr. Nachum from helping his patients. I write this review with disappointment…read more Dr. Nachum suggested that - for a pair of eyeglasses which I would be wearing *all* the time, to have the blue-light blocking coating since I work in front of a computer. I accepted the advice of the doctor, and opted for the $90 more option to do so. In the past year after continuously wearing these eyeglasses, I noticed that I was not sleeping well as before, and also felt increasingly lethargic. It was only after conducting an eye-exam with a different doctor did I discover that it was an *absolute mistake* to wear blue-blocking lenses all the time. More egregious is the fact that this is common knowledge - that no one should be wearing blue-blocking all the time - it disrupts circadian rhythms and moods. It is difficult for me to presume that Dr. Nachum did not know about this. I am saddened to think that Dr. Nachum - who so casually asserted that the glasses he prescribed are fine to wear all the time - did so to go after putting an extra charge on my eyeglasses. Greed is a terrible vice, doctor.
