There's plenty of parking in the lot in front, complete with a fountain and foliage. The inn is the perfect blend between inn and B&B. The owner checked me in with a warm welcome but was blessedly brief. He told me what I needed to know but unlike most B&Bs he didn't tell me his life story. I appreciated the ability to get to my room faster. I initially found this place because I came with my sister a decade ago and needed a place with two beds which this inn had. My room this time was on the second floor. There are no elevators so if you don't do stairs be sure to book a first floor room. Both levels have two cozy sitting places with comfy chairs. The first floor has a side porch with a comfy couch. First floor also has an honor bar with wine, soda, beer (spotted cow of course!) and a few little snacks. And a 24 hour coffee machine. The rooms are all nice. This time I had a ridiculously large suite because I booked last minute and it's all that was available. But wow! It was impressive. The sitting area has two sumptuous chairs thick enough to cozy my full body into with legs curled up, and arms wide enough to rest books on. There's a wet bar and the fridge works great. My ice packs even stayed solid in the little freezer element. The balcony has two chairs and is quite lovely. The shower is remarkably refreshing with nicely scented bath products. The sink is separate from the toilet and shower. Strangely the jacuzzi is out of the bathroom altogether and next to the bed which for me is a bizarre juxtaposition. The bed and pillows were comfortable enough that I slept quite soundly. The breakfast on the weekdays I was there was from 8-10a. The coffee was good although a little weaker than I make it at home. There's a menu and you can order as much as you want, all included in the room charge. Every morning included options of: orange or grapefruit, house made granola, variety of breads, vanilla yogurt, and a bakery item such as a muffin or slice of coffee cake. Then there were always three hot items such as scrambled eggs, ham, waffles with cherry. I loved the variety of choices and everything was delicious. I missed more fruit and would have like a banana or some in season fruit since it was summer. Everything was wonderful and this will continue to be where I stay whenever I visit door county.

What I thought was just a romantic weekend getaway turned out to be the happiest moment of my life thus far, and the cabin was the perfect setting. The breakfasts were delicious and delivered to our door in a picnic basket! The space was so tastefully decorated and clean and welcoming. I really could cry- there was no room for improvement. Honest Review We…read morestayed for a week at the Evergreen cabin for our honeymoon, first time in door county. First the positives: neighborhood dog Bruno is so sweet and well behaved. The afternoon cookies were delicious and the decor of the cabin was lovely. The cons: Upon our arrival promptly around check in at 3pm it was 84 degrees in the cabin because the air conditioning was not turned on. Took several hours to cool down in the middle of July. The smell of moth balls was a bit overpowering. We were shocked to find the entire downstairs locked (4 doors total). We paid $2700 to rent a cabin for the week. Upon check in we received a note from the owners that for an additional $1500 they would open the remaining rooms downstairs. Our only open door inside was our room and bathroom upstairs. We had to go upstairs to use the only restroom. No typical comforts to be found- blankets for cold evenings to be found in the cabin, robes. The whirl tub went off twice in the middle of the night, 2 hours after turning off in the bedroom. Halfway through the week we ran out of toilet paper from the two roles of low ply they provided. When we asked about their adorable neighborhood dog they sent a lovely message back right away. When we asked for more toilet paper, radio silence, never responded. We went and bought our own for the remaining trip. Not the honeymoon experience we hoped for.

The decor throughout the house is gorgeous and every room is very unique, so there's a nice variety to pick from all of the photos when booking online. We had the Jessie and it was such a treat having both a fireplace and jacuzzi in the room! The staff were lovely and fun to chat with, as well as hear more home history. The food was fresh and delicious-there was no doubt about who was making it because it was done in the same room. The Inn is right in the bustle of town so its easy to walk for shopping, different restaurants, going to the water (etc) but you never hear any noise inside of our room. Thorpe House is reasonably priced if you're celebrating something like we were. It was like stepping back in time but nothing felt dated. They fill up really quickly so get a room booked as soon as you know when your trip is! We will absolutely come back the next time we're in the area!

Our stay at Thorp House Inn & Cottages was nothing short of miserable. The room was freezing…read morebecause the bathroom heater didn't work in the middle of winter, which made the entire space uncomfortable from the moment we arrived. The jacuzzi tub -- one of the reasons we booked -- was filthy, clearly not cleaned properly before our stay. We also paid for a horse‑drawn carriage ride, which was canceled due to weather. That part was understandable. What wasn't understandable was the complete lack of communication about the replacement trolley ride being one‑way only. We were dropped off and left to walk back to the B&B in bitter cold temperatures with no warning. Breakfast was another disappointment. What was served tasted reheated and stale, like it had been sitting around far too long. And the truffles we ordered -- which should have been a special touch -- were stored in the laundry room and all tasted like detergent. For the price and reputation, we expected a warm, welcoming, and well‑run experience. Instead, we left cold, frustrated, and extremely let down. We won't be returning.

The front desk person at checking was great to chat with. The coffee shop it had attached is a nice amenity in this small community. The rooms were clean. What a cool overnight spot!! What a view - what a surprise!…read more The Square Rigger Lodge was wonderful. This newly renovated, family owned lodge has so much small town charm, you just don't want to leave. I woke just before sunrise to dim light, a slight overcast and quiet waves hitting the sandy beach just 40-50 yards from the back porch seating! There is a slight trail that will guide you past and around a local house that is perched right on the beach. Don't be afraid to walk past it, the lodge owns beach access and the neighbors have learned to live with it (We confirmed the route to access the beach [Right in front to us] with the lodge owner) Hubby made our plans to travel to WI just a week before we arrived! He tried to have us stay near or very near Lake Michigan and Green Bay. So, we embarked on five different locations for five individual nights. This was our third overnight, our second on the peninsula. What a wonderfully peaceful evening. The best word I can use to describe the lodge is just "peaceful". I say this to be clear-- People woke to just sit quietly out back amidst the view - but since I could not be quiet, I sought out someone to share the experience with. We found, we enjoyed!! Rooms seemed recently renovated- and that is my presumption since the owner said they just took over a year or so ago. Bathroom floors were new, as was the paint and the texturized walls. The decor is simple and muted, but not unflattering. The beds were comfortable and pillows extra fluffy!! Towels were fluffy and bed linens were super white and clean. There was a coffee shop on site called "A Little Bit of Coffee" which featured the Door County Coffee brand and boasted a variety of their flavors. We truly enjoyed this cute, little hotel and look forward to staying there for several days on our next visit to Wisconsin.

We rented a 2-storey townhouse unit through our owners membership in Club Wyndham Destinations. It's a beautiful unit with a dedicated garage, two full bathrooms with jetted spa tubs and large shower stalls. The fireplace is real and there are wood logs provided. The master bedroom is massive, the kitchen fully stocked (as with all Wyndhams), but for us the best feature is the enclosed, heated patio with a comfy 4-chairs/table set. It leads to an outdoor deck with a Weber grill. The Recreation Center has a good sized heated pool indoors and outdoor hot tub. You can rent cross country ski equipment or ice skates for outdoor Winter activities. The townhouses are truly young-family-friendly as evidenced by the high chair and booster seat in the front closet. Little Sweden is in Fish Creek, WI, a very cute touristy town. I knew this place would be great when I stepped into the condo and saw that my bedroom had a giant jacuzzi tub in it. Plus a fireplace in the bedroom and the living room! The coziness and luxuriousness was turned up all the way to 11 here. My condo also had a balcony that faced east and overlooked Lake Michigan. I visited when it was snowy and cold, so I didn't get to sit out on the balcony, but I loved looking at the sun coming up over the water every morning. The condo had a full kitchen: refrigerator, stove and oven, coffee maker, dishwasher, bar counter seating, all of the utensils and dishes and cups and storage space you could desire. It was like a home away from home. Plus, there was a living room, small dining room, and a big bathroom, with a shower that had great water pressure. If I visited during warmer weather, I would have taken advantage of the pool outside. But I visited when there was snow on the ground, so the pool was closed, obviously. They do have a gym here. I was able to visit the fitness center each day of my stay, and it also has a dry sauna! I didn't use it, but I love that they offer a sauna. Inexplicably, the fitness center also had a bookshelf full of books that you can borrow. The woman at the check-in/check-out desk was lovely, and gave me lots of good tips about the local Door County scene and suggested that I visit a local bar (Bad Moravian), which I ended up visiting and loving. The front desk also has a big bowl of chocolates, so make sure you grab a handful when you stay here.

We were told this was due to the building being so old, and that we should have called for maintenance every time we wanted to close/secure them. The doors didn't line up either making it impossible to open them fully. If you don't mind dealing with some of the issues that come along with an older building, this one definitely has a wonderful view and some convenient amenities.
