Gurrane National School was our school of choice when our eldest boy was heading down the educational route. As a new Mom to the area I found the school to be very friendly, welcoming, and the staff to be warm, interested and very caring of our wonderful children. Since they have started through the system, our kids have really come out of themselves and are getting the best education we can give them. The resource time and teaching has really helped and our child has improved in leaps and bounds. I really can not speak highly of both the staff, pupils and the great social side to the parents association who have and are working flat out to keep the school fitted out with the best of equipment. Well done and continued success to Gerry and his team in Gurrane National School. read more

An adorable small primary school close to Crossbarry which places an emphasis on small classes, lots of 1-2-1 teacher time, family involvement, and encouraging an all-round caring atmosphere. We parents are proud of it, and even though politics has prevented us from getting a school bus, we have wonderful Car Pools and parents that will help anyone out who would prefer to have their children in a small class. We encourage families new to the area to call our School Secretary on 021 7331481 for an Information Pack. read more

I see the Crossbarry gang are out in force! and don't forget Kay's Busy Kids. M and C went there and D is starting in September. I always had fierce time for Kay. As for Gurrane, great school. Glad to see the awareness is growing. Amazing so many people in Crossbarry don't even know where it is!!! And I' a Kildare man! PS It's Gurrane National School, not Gurranes. Anyone know how to change this thing? read more

Well said, Lu. I wouldn't worry about a bus, as you're hardy going to put a little 5 yar old on the bus anyway. And sure we have the car pool social life! We chose it because of the small class size compared to some of the others (very good too, but a bit full). Ours went to Marie and Bernice in Giggles and they got a brilliant start I have to say. read more

More parents needed for the Reading Club. Any takers? Call the secretary if you're available.
